Some news for you...anyone who thinks that they don't need to change is likely bordering on narcissism. Everyone needs to continue to improve. If you think that you are always right and don't ever need to change, you are looking more and more like what you accuse your ex of, each day. You cam up with quite the rant. All because you are unable to tell the whole truth. You wrote one thing, but claimed that it meant something else altogether. Even your new interpretation makes no sense at all. It's literally just nonsense. You literally wrote that Thailand only has those little BBQ sticks for when it came to BBQ. Only after I challenged that assertion did your meaning eventually change to one of Americans having millions more very specific American design BBQ devices. It's an unbelievable turnaround. Instead of admitting that you made a mistake, you've twisted and turned and wriggled in every way, to prevent admitting that you got it wrong. I'm definitely not the only one who sees that you claim to NOT EVER being wrong, even when it is blatantly obvious that you are and were. Then you later claim that you have been right in every discussion. It's laughably...insane. Your claim that are always only ever helping people, doesn't stand up to ANY scrutiny. I don't think anyone here believes that your ex partners were narcissistic. You might have had a few sympathetic with you in the past, but after seeing evidence of your particular behaviour time and time again, I think it likely that no one believes you. The problem was almost definitely you. That's likely why your ex doesn't want to do a deal with you. If you were such a great guy, she would do her best for you and the kid.

That's quite a narrow purview. In my own experience, a Pad Kraprow cost from 35 baht. But to buy the individual ingredients would by far exceed that. You are assuming that everything is already in place and working on a per portion basis, using economy of scale. Otherwise going out to buy each ingredient individually simply would not be viable. But if you are cooking daily, you'll use up the ingredients over time, making it overall cheaper.

All I can do it to try to steer him in a good direction when appropriate. We don't always see it ourselves and so we takes cues from the things around us.

We bought from a simple street vendor, looked like their home. I guess it's more than just the food for you. If you had a good overall experience, the food will be part of that. I also had a pleasant experience overall, though had more interesting food experiences than Banh Mi. So I don't seek that as stimuli.

Yes. But you won't notice if I agree with him or at least when we don't disagree. I was actually thinking that his behaviour had improved considerably since he got back from his trip to the USA. I think your dialogue with him pushed him over the edge. Now he's back to acting defensive, rather than so easily acknowledging that he might have not expressed himself adequately in the first instance. But what seems like 'normal' behaviour to me, doesn't translate to it being normal to someone else. I read the statement and don't have the same perspective. So engage the writer in conversation in order to discuss our different perspectives. That's a far as it goes for me. I might concur with something he writes on another thread. His problem is that he starts taking it personally and becoming abusive, so it colours the experience to a negative one for him. It keeps returning to him. For me, it's not personal, it's questioning his statement in order to discuss our perspectives on the matter. This is normal for me. But I accept that it is not normal for everyone. Doesn't mean that I will curb my natural curiosity. He will see the situation in his own way. He describes it to us here.

But you aren't going to buy those amounts. 2 baht of rice? Really? I'm not disagreeing that at scale it is cheaper, but realistically, you aren't going to buy for one meal and get it cheaper. The school has the benefit of economies of scale. They buy in bulk.

Why not take the opportunity to agree on something?
-
Thailand was not better 20 years ago
Why are you arguing with someone who is agreeing with you?

Thais that cook will have all the ingredients to hand. If you don't have them, that adds to the cost. Restaurants have economies of scale.
-

I go to them every day. I didn't say that you cannot buy that amount, I asked, will you buy that amount? Okay, so then lay out the ingredients for a Pad Kraprow and we'll price them up.

Shall we lay out the ingredients for a Pad Kraprow? Are you going to go to a shop to buy 50 to 60 grams of meat? Will you just steal the basil, chillies and the garlic? You need to have a lot of ingredients to hand, otherwise it's going to be a relatively expensive endeavour. It's cheaper if you cook generally anyway, as you will have lots of ingredients to hand. Your costs will be less overall. But to buy everything just for one dish, it will be relatively expensive. Depends on the living situation.

I've travelled Vietnam from South to North, I think I might have found a 'real' Banh Mi place along the way, don't you?
-

I think it depends of where you are beginning. I, for instance, have cupboards full of ingredients, so I can knock up most dishes for less than restaurant cost. But if you have nothing and want to buy everything for say, Pad Kraprow, it going to work out more expensive. So it seems the OP's cupboards are bare.

I really don't get the whole Banh Mi thing. It's just a white bread sandwich. Perhaps for the same reason why I didn't 'get' Subway. I enjoyed lots of different kinds of foodstuffs in Vietnam. North, Central and South. Banh Mi and coffee had no impression on me.

I 'took it wrong'? I read exactly what you wrote. What you claim now is not at all what you wrote. Can you admit that you might have written it better? 😊 At what point can you admit that your behaviour plays a part? Do you really believe that you are infallible? 😊 For my part, there is no attempt at distraction, deflection, defensiveness et al. I haven't delved into your past. It is you doing all of that. I'm simply discussing the prevalence of BBQ here, contrary to your earlier assertions of there not being extensive barbecue facilities throughout Thailand, beyond grilling little sticks of meat and seafood. Which is exactly what you wrote and are now claiming that you meant something completely different from what you actually wrote. Weird. 😊 I can speak for others, as they are saying exactly the same thing about you. So it means they have noticed too.

I have been in this dialogue with you, so I am clearly aware of the direction and tempo of the conversation. You changed the meaning throughout the conversation and now you have finally settled on the latest version, pretending that is what you meant in the first place. It's just dishonest and gives claim to the people who assert that you are the real narcissist and your ex may or may not have been. That is the perception here, whether you like it or not.

Vindaloo is a fusion of Portuguese and Indian... often described as a Goan dish.

Can you point to even a single lie or exaggeration? If you are a psychiatrist, you would demonstrate that to me, to convince me that you are telling the truth, therefore helping me to understand that the problem is one of my own making. So, show me the lie or exaggeration.

You statement of what you claim that you meant has changed enormously since Page 9 of your original statement. Blaming others for you not writing clearly what you meant in the first place, merely demonstrates your own poor character and inability to communicate. Why did you not write exactly that on Page 9 or Page 10? I'll tell you why...because that is not what you meant. You have just changed what you meant to fit in with now. That's what you do, change your story to fit with what you want people to believe.

Wow...it's really muddled in your brain, isn't it? Hookers and Russian women? What has that to do with anything? Are they against BBQ? Russians love shashlik and Thais and even ex-hookers like a BBQ too. I have a friend up-country inviting me there to experience a more natural life style. So I'm acquainted with many walks of life. It's always interesting for me to observe the kinds of creatures that inhabit this earth. You have been an interesting case study.

Adapt an oil drum or have one adapted for you. You been in Thailand years now, singing the same song of how you are going back to the US and yet... So why not create a smoker of your own and have some fun with it, instead of continually looking for negatives in Thailand?

😂 hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahaha... Moving the goal posts AGAIN. Why would they use a shop bought American style grill, when they have so many TRADITIONAL styles already? Fire pits, vases and various types of charcoal grill. That's a lot already, isn't it? Why on earth would you bring up the lack of a gas powered MODERN(adapted from oil drum designs) American style grill as a point or reference? It makes no sense at all. You are just WEIRD 😊 Are you okay, freddy? Freddy, are you okay?

Thai girl was totally shameless
Chook dee is probably not appropriate 😊 Especially as you mean it in a perhaps, sarcastic manner. As in "good luck, you are going to need it". You are quite correct in your post. But they are both not very nice, IMHO.

I think some people were saying that at the beginning. A male viper meeting a female viper would feel completely normal to each other. In his world, it's all completely normal....or at least he fights to convince himself of that being the case. It's unusual to watch snakes encircling each other in the wild, so people came to observe the behaviour.

Men give their children an allowance. You'll be paying her a salary. The money will NOT be spent for your household. It's specifically money just for her. You will also be paying for everything else. You are the Sugar Daddy and she is the Sugar Baby. Of course you need to spin it in a way that makes it more acceptable to you. Understood. But for others, your 'girl' leaving you to run back and have sex with some other dude would be unpalatable. You need to pretend that it's a delicacy. For me, it's a stinking rotten fish. No thank you, but you are welcome to it.
