sorry to disagree but there's no such thing as perfect marriage, all have ups and downs and mostly downs.... have been married 4 x to 4 different ladies from 4 different countries, all from different education and wealth backgrounds, it all started well but than down hill, most here are making jokes and claiming to have fantastic relationships, good for them but would be nice if they were honest and told it how it is or better yet, should ask their partners opinions, quite sure we would have some funny surprises

Agreed.  Ive known a few over time who boast perfect marriages but in reality it is the complete opposite.  Drunks and layabouts who are always out of work, owe money all around town with no chance or will to pay it back.  And when they do manage to have money it is spent on booze, drugs or whores while the little woman is stuck at home in a miserable rut trying to make ends meet because she is now resolved to the fact that she is too old to find another husband or it is too difficult to leave especially when kids are involved.  There is also the old cultural aspect where Thai women are taught from an early age to be subservient to males of the family and would rather live a life of misery than be seen to not strive to take care of their father, husband, and children.......and thus they take on most of the burden by often having second jobs or part time businesses etc to make ends meet.

Anyone can be the author of their own history but some refuse to admit they are writing fiction because in doing so they would be admitting to failure.

It doesn’t only apply to UK licenses I got mine with an Australian licence both car and motorbike as have several of of my Aus expat friends with none of the tests you refer to.

Although I have never checked I understand that it also applies to other countries as well.

Yes ditto for me too with an Aussie drivers license and also no tests but the officer did whisper to me that he usually told the Brits they were the only ones because they think they are special!

It makes it easier for getting driving licence ect that needs proof of residence, rather than going to imm every time for a proof of res letter.

That may depend on what driving centre (DLT?) you attend.  Whenever I have made inquiries I have been told the yellow book is not acceptable.  Seems a waste of time to me.

  4. I believe nowadays they are too well fed.  Back in the day they were on you like flies.  Take a girl out and others would be begging to come too.  Nowadays I dont think they have that same drive to take care of their family.  I also think with high lady drink prices today they seem to me to prefer to stay in the bar and squeeze drinks from customers.  Many have farang bf who send them money as well.  I still like to cruise bars from time to time....nostalgia I guess??  but thats the feedback I get.

And yes, I am not the young hansum man I was so that may muddy the data a touch.

why don't they pay the cops more?  at the same time improve their training.

It was explained to me some years back that if they were paid a decent wage they would just go home or to their favourite bar everyday.  By giving them a low wage it forces them out onto the streets and even if they are only taking back handers they are still upholding the law.   Thats the theory anyway.
