  1. poor villagers using washing machines............huh?

poor villiagers eating at food stalls is a luxury they cant afford.

pop makes 220 baht a day. tv and mobiles phone? must be the least of their worries.

My ex, never married but lived together 11 years, and she still works for me, I bought her parents their land in Bkk which was about to be reclaimed by the landlord, they promptly lost it to a money lender.

They took my ex from school at 11 years old and made her work tiling roof, I am still helping the parents, against my will, as she wants to win favour I would have them go for what they have done to her

    Little River Band

    Etc.

A bunch of 2nd rate movie, TV , and music stars that I met staying in the different hotels that I worked in. :o

Craig T Nelson became a good friend of mine when they filmed the killing fields here, one of many that would remember me well

  3. Many fresh and salt water fishing places here, in fact one nice bar on the river where you can do both according to the tides, and the owner is well worth catching too

  4. Apart from all the technically correct Thai practically an inch is an English inch as in wood measurement and everything I have seen is measured with a tape measure in inches and feet unless using metric especially in the building trade.

The Thai inch is a legacy unit.

I don't recall seeing any real use today.

The only time I saw it used was years ago, in a certain meditation method taught by a certain monk, where 2 inches was referencing the Thai inches.

Actually this unit is still used widely nowadays but you might not notice about it.

Thai people often use คืบ and ศอก when saying approximate measurement.

I do believe it is used medically

As for land, even the official term วา as in ตารางวา is in used. 1 วา = 200 เมตร

  5. I once made some ice cream from a cross section of my fowl from quail up to goose I had to use a local whipping cream instead of a nice fresh double cream but I still dream about the taste of that delicious ice cream no comercial brand could come near

  6. We eat duck eggs because we have ducks. It's amazing just how many eggs they lay. My wife gives the extras to her family members.

Actually laying type ducks lay more eggs than chickens per year they do not have the same cycle

  7. I have recently purchased a Hummingbird GPS fish finder for my boat, I normally go from the mainland near to Koh Samet/Koh Mun there is some good fishing around there especially going out to sea a little farther some monster swordfish Spanish mackerel and shark, I have been told there are also marlin around there.

When I find an area that has great fish I can record and return to the spot but as yet I cannot find a download of maps of the area to install on the unit, does anyone know?

Also I used to have nautical maps of the area from the admiralty which I bought in Amsterdam those are gone does anyone know where they can be purchased on line?

  8. I love oysters around the world all have a different flavour, I think Bluff oysters from New Zealand are the best, it seems strange to have such a beautiful delicate food deep fried at the local chippy. Portuguese come a close second.

Doyles restaurant in Sydney have some great cooked ones I seem to remember Kilpatrick, Mornay and a couple of others. Does anyone know the recipes for these.

Thailand also has some very big oysters but certainly here, like big crayfish they are hard to find as the big hotels/restaurants buy them up first.

When I think of Whitstable oysters 20 years ago were £1 per beastie and here 40 for 50p.

There is a place a few miles north of Pattaya famed for it's oysters I used to call in every trip from Bkk to Pattaya but I will need to look at a map to recall the name
