  1. Really - I have three Thai bank credit cards and have never paid upfront, even when issued. Signed the documents and the cards arrived a few days later. Makes no sense as if you deposit does the credit card not now become a debit card?
  2. Only 700 illegals. Thats a shocking number. The Cambodians, Laotian and Myanmarese are slipping. They need to get some advice on how to add to their illegal number. Maybe Thailand could give this advice considering there are over 100,000 illegal workers in South Korea. Thais seems to be experts at working illegally in foreign countries.
  3. Awful analogue. Basically you have said one law for thais and one for foreigners. Which is not how the law works. BTW. Do you make visitors to your house pay tax, room and board or provide your family members with jobs??? Terrible analogue.
  4. My comment was in response to the Swiss man and Dr incident on a Phuket be. Thanks.
  5. If that's your best reply a; poorly structured insinuation based on nothing more than your imagination. You don't appear to have anything more of value to add to this thread.
  6. Mike - I was refering to the Swiss / Dr incident in Phuket. But don't let that get in the way of your anger. IMO she should face the punishment as the law states for anyone who assaults another person, regardless of her nationality or ethnicity. I am sure however, that you will find many supporters for your POV here on the echo-chamber of farang loathing and hate that aseanow has become. Enjoy. No wonder Thais are starting to dislike us so much when we fan the flames of discontent ourselves.
  7. Fine you believe in discrimination based on nationality and ethnicity. Do not be surprised (in fact embrace it) if it happens to you. I believe all people should be and are equal under the law and the law must be applied equally to all in all cases. Not unequally with minorities which we are, being unfairly treated by a disproportionate application of the law.
  8. Sorry but you would never find such an extreme punishment if it were Thai on Thai. All punishments should be equal for all people, irrespective of nationality or ethnicity, otherwise your are condoning discrimination and racism. You may disagree with that but that says more about you than I.
  9. That is a matter of opinion ...not fact. I do not think that a bit of swearing and a kick should result in a person's life being torn apart. I feel the punishment should fit the crime.
  10. I don't wish to sound naive here but which of the recent 'crimes' committed by foreigners that have been in the news over the last couple of weeks targetted tourists? I thought the feigned indignation and outrage in the media was because the foreigners had 'targetted' Thais.
  11. "Burgeoning Thailand" eh.... I thought Thailand was in an economic crisis, isn't that the reasoning behind the digital wallet and the PMs frequent request to the BoT to reduce interest rates. Or is the Thaiger once guilty of over stating the facts??
  12. Kinda like saying I prefer dog sh*t over cat sh*t if we are honest. Trump is a lunatic bent on revenge and Biden can't remember what he had to eat for breakfast this morning. And these are the best the USA has to offer as leaders!! MAGA my arse. All Americans deserve a better set of choices than either Trump or Biden. I'd rather have Hussain or Gadaffi than either of these two tbh. At least they had character.
  13. The PM of Thailand is wining and dining with a criminal. What a wonderful example he sets for the rest of the population.
  14. One would think questioning the governments handling of this case is perfectly acceptable given that the government overseas the department of corrections and after 120 days of hospital treatment the director General of the department of corrections notified the Justice minsister of Taksins continued hospitalization. I assume the justice minister can defend himself in parliament? Not about taksin, it's about the government handling of the case.
