  1. We should not criticise and judge based on our "alien" values. Just because we do not understand doesn't make it wrong. This is their country and we have no right to second guess their actions. Remember we are just visitors here.

    nice one..!! :o

  2. Love Thailand? Well I've had time to get to know the place, I've learned the language and I've done my best to get to understand the culture and life of Thailand - I like the place, I like it a lot, I respect it as one should something with so many hazards but no I don't love Thailand.

    don't blame you..!! :o

  3. When I first started coming to Thailand just 9 years ago it felt exotic; it was raw, it was exhilarating. Thai people related to me with enthusiasm and I felt genuinely welcome in their country.

The escalating tourism is taking away everything that attracted me to Thailand. The shear number of tourists seems to have made the Thai people jaded and generally disinterested in visitors. With cheap air travel and westerners becoming wealthier, places that were once havens of Thai culture and tranquillity are now soulless places; the streets now clogged with scum-bag tourists that may previously have gone to Majorca or Tenerife.

Yes, mass-tourism is inevitable and of course Thailand is just one of many countries that are affected. I'm also well aware that increased tourism has huge financial and social benefits to the citizens of these countries, but my Thailand is on its deathbed and I'm selfishly in mourning.

    Ahh..another unsatisfied customer.. :o

  4. QUOTE(Tootah @ 2007-10-01 11:15:52) post_snapback.gifYep, decision time! After a few years here I have realised that Thailand and the ever stricter 'rules' and never ending stream of <deleted> from Immigration isnt for me anymore, in fact I am beginning to resent people with the xenophobia so I'm getting out while I still have my sanity, as I dont see things here getting any easier for some of us. Anyone else thinking about making the move 'back home' or somewhere else? If you are thinking about it, post your thoughts here, good or bad, speak your mind and dont worry about the farang rak thai crowd here!

Bye bye Thailand, thanks for the memories good and bad! :D

    sorry..to hear that!! :o

i hope you will be happy in uk.

    its your country..after all.

  5. my grandparents held hands all the time, i dont ever rember my grandmother working in patpong !

    :D i like that..!!

    couldn't stop laughing..

    you've made my day! :D

especially in the cold ,gray ,raining day like today in england! :o

  6. I think it is time to start 2 sub-forums on ThaiVisa. One would be the "I am a farang who hates farangs" forum and the other would be a " I am a farang who hates Thailand and all things Thai." That would keep most of the bitching off of the rest of the forum.

humm..it would create a war zone right here..i think!! :o

  7. believe this to be a general misconception. Maybe for certain a social class of Thai, "grabbing a farang husband", may give her social status, but to my knowledge, in higher social Asian circles, having a farang husband is not a good thing. Maybe if the farang has a high social standing himself, it may ease the families mind, but it is preferred within High Class Asian families that their daughters/sons marry someone of equal social standing within their own culture/race.

    Spot On..!!

    Totally Agree..!! :o
