  1. I hope you will have a great trip! I am planning a similar trip: 90 days going south from Bangkok to Phuket and visiting Koh Hkun Seng, Samui, and whereever else I feel like on the way, taking it very easy. smile.png

Did you buy the scooter in Bangkok? I need to find a dealer in Bangkok for a new Honda Click or similar, and I need to get in contact with them by e-mail before going to Thailand (to sort out what papers I need etc.). Does anyone know a dealer with a website in English? I have only been able to locate one using Google (hondasumetcycle), and they are in no hurry to answer e-mails.

If you search the bike section on Thaivisa classified you should see ads from those that will help foreigners to buy bikes here and will also assist with registration.

  2. Good for you, go for it but keep your eyes on the mirrors at all times.

Three years ago I Rode from Bangkok through Kanchanburi and then on over to three Pagoda pass on the Burmese border. Stayed a night there then back to Kanchaburi for a night on my way back to Bangkok.

After that down into Hua Hun for a night then on to Chumpon with a detour through Sam Roi Yot National park. Stayed in Chumpon for a night then on down to Krabi.

Two nights there in Ao Nang then another 65 klm to Ko Lanta for another two nights. Came back up to Krabi and cut across the new highway to the East side and got the ferry from Don Sak to Ko Phangan, stayed there for three days.

Decided I did not want to ride all the way back to Bangkok so the bike and I ended up on the train at Pun Phin station near Surat Thani for the overnight back to Bangkok.

Overall a great trip and a great way to meet local people. There are a lot of interesting places to stop along the way. If you do go further south it can be a little ways between petrol stations but there are usually shops selling gas in one litre bottles along the way. I bought an extra one and stuck it in with my gear in case i ran out.

Anyway, wherever you decide to go, enjoy it and have a safe trip. Let us know how you get on when you come back.

  3. "I have received information from reliable sources," Krissada said.

Again, the question has to be raised as to where the intelligence network of the government (police, army, etc) is. What happened to the information from so-called reliable source; who was it passed onto or is this guy just blowing his own trumpet?

Yes pass on this valuable piece of intelligence to everyone I am sure it wll never be passed on to the terrorists!

  4. can i ask what type of card you are using from kasikorn?

i have the visa debit but it does not have my name on it - it says "privileged member" on the front (bit worrying) and does not seem to have a proper security code on the back - is that the kind of card? if so how does it work?

my card does not have my name on the front but does have the 3 number security code on the back so it is usable on line

Mine is the same - no name on the front and a 3 digit number on the back (only 3 digits - not 4 digits then the final 3 digits which are the CRV code) and it does not work.....

(it says electronic use only on the front)

Is that the card you are using?

It is a Paul Frank card and no name only privagled member on front along with electronic use . It has a three digit number on the back beside my signature. As a previous post stated, you can get a virtual internet buying card linking it with the debit card from the Kasikorn website
  5. Using an ATM machine you can set up your debit card as an Internet card also.

I use it with iTunes all the time.

Apple did deduct $1 per iTunes account it verified.

I haven't botherered to try to get my $2 back.

So it is only 1 dollar every time i would buy something from their store? I asked apple and they said it was the bank I had to request the refund from but it seems like a lot of hassle for only 1 dollar

  7. Hi has anyone experienced problems buying app from itunes store using Kasakorn's online debit card/ I have bought a few apps and they seem to have charged me twice for them. I called the bank and they said it is standard procedure from apple to verify buyer has funds in account but the bank cannot put back into account without going through a long procees of claims forms.

  8. Hi, I think all of the rental places are much the same and charge around the same price 150 Baht for a small automatic. Be aware they will hold your passport against damage. If you can handle gears then go for a semi automatic such as a honda dream or wave as the savings in fuel will be significant. If you have been there before you will know Ko Chang has a lot of steep hills and sharp curves so take care! The busiest place to stay would be White Sands which is the first big beach after you get of the ferry. It has reasonably priced accomodation, try Fifteen Palms or Paddy Palms, a great beach, cheap seafood restaurants in the evening on the beach, lots of beach bars and a night club. Ko Chang is one of my favourite places in Thailand, Enjoy your trip.

  9. What an absolutely fantastic honour for the fledgling thai PM, and of course her coalition government,,smile.png

And can only be interpreted as International admiration and recognition for the performance of the first woman PM of thailand

I really hope she will be able to attend this meaningful event..

Well done PM Yingluk, excellent news
