Lampang is listed twice so maybe count one of those as Chiang Mai????

As long as I can get out in nature occasionally I don't find this lockdown stuff stressful at all. Bumped into a friend at Tops the other day and he asked if I was getting bored yet. I only paused for a second before telling him I was quite content and doing fine.
Some things are pretty normal, like today the air conditioning guys came to do a thorough cleaning of two of our a/c units and inspected the other two for a total cost of 900 baht. With the temperatures we have had recently I wanted to make sure they were in peak condition.

The air quality was so good today we just returned from a wonderful hike. One good rain and everything looks and feels so different.????

Nah. Although I love younger women, mine is in her early 30's now, and is still really lovely. And I am getting older too. Her other qualities mean alot more to me now, than ever before. So, I think I will be just fine. Heart and soul, a great companion, and loving being with someone count for alot, especially when she is as amazing as she is, on a consistent and daily basis. Even with the best of the best, I never experienced her level of emotional consistency back in the US. Never even close.
I am afraid a large percentage of guys posting here won't have a clue what you are talking about and probably wouldn't believe you even if they did understand.????

The way I look at it, if someone came into my home uninvited, perhaps even unwelcome, proceeded to put their feet up on the furniture and criticize everything about my home and me personally, but boast they wouldn't mind sleeping with my children...well I wouldn't be very happy with that situation. If you haven't been asked for your criticism or advice then don't expect it to be welcomed with open arms.
There are many Thais who understand things need to change in their country and they are trying their best to make a difference but it takes time to change things when incumbent powers refuse to budge. Things don't happen overnight in the West either. I will hope for the best and encourage Thais in their efforts but in the meantime I am focused on adapting to reality instead of howling at the moon.????

Shopping at Tops market is a social gathering now ?
Oddly enough, it can be. The last two times at Tops we bumped into friends and had a brief visit, mumbling behind our masks. Actually I was referencing things like the hash, expat club, monthly potluck, book club, singing group, art and dining events, to mention just a few. ????

One of the things which leads to an imbalance on the forum is that the malcontents love what they do. You can warn, suspend, even ban them but they keep coming back to do more damage.
People on the other end of the spectrum are too easily put off by comments which should be completely disregarded. Nice people tend to be more easily offended and the other guys know that and use it to their advantage.
I don't think we should play the mean game but I don't think we should surrender either. Stand your ground by continuing to post the way you think people should post while ignoring the malcontents. It also helps if we support each other a little. Too often when someone is attacked others head for the exit because they are afraid of showing support.????

I've got 3 pages of posters I never have to read anymore.
The thing is, Chiangrai is a small place and I inevitably bump into some of these people at social gatherings so I find it prudent to know what is being said about me. There is no ignore button in real life.

I wrote the following recently.
"There are literally hundreds of topics out there proclaiming and championing the ugliness of the world we live in and filled with hateful combative language. It is a virtual race to the bottom, to see who can be the most hateful, negative, vindictive and spiteful. Look at how sad my life is, how mistreated and misunderstood my existence is. Come one, come all, and celebrate my misery and affliction.
I have simply chosen to carveout a tiny space where I can share how I look at the world and live my life."

I have dealt with more bile and vitriol on this little sub-forum than perhaps anyone else, yet I am still positive and still here. I am the only one I have any control over and I control how I respond to the stuff I read online.
Just maintain your center, your convictions and don't allow the negativity to change your actions or outlook. Don't give others any power over how you feel about your life here in Thailand.????

From my personal point of view, I've quite enjoyed the lockdown here in Samui.
Always good to hear from a happy camper making the best of their situation.

Just a heads up that the Overbrook hospital seems to be operating normally, they rang me yesterday to make sure I was keeping my weekend appointment.
Sounded like people have been keeping away.
We are still putting off all hospital visits for the time being.

provisioned & headed up to Crater Lake, Ore (closed to all but snow shoe trekking - their equip was down)...So spent 5 months starting at the Oregon coast & winding down Calif coast to Hearst Castle & out to Utah, hooking back to through Yosemite up along 49 to Columbia catching up with a couple of buddies from my school years....
That brings back memories. We used to take month long drives visiting those places and many others. My wife saw snow for the first time in Yosemite and loved Crater Lake among other favorites.????

My personal experience is limited to the poor socio-economic level of the Thai society of Pattaya with their predatory attitude towards foreigners.
That makes sense.

No not really, just that is a little too small for our needs.
Says between CX3 and CX5, exactly what would have bought a couple of years ago.
CX3 slight small in the back seat.
The captain seats in the back of the CX8 are amazing and plenty of cargo space if you fold the back row down.

Try to stop paying for them left and right. Even better - tell them you are a bankrupt. Then wait and see what happens.
Our Thai friends pay for us much more often than we pay for them.

Take a look at the new CX-8, I love mine.
I did, it's nice, maybe a bit too big for me though.
I see there is a new CX30, know anything about that?
No not really, just that is a little too small for our needs.

We both prefer to talk things out. Maybe that is why we are still happy after 23 years.????????
