I don't know where else you
can get a chili burger in Thailand
There are a few places around town. The best one I have found is at Buddy's Bar on Sukhumvit Soi 22, but I usually opt for the Chili Dog. I had one for dinner last night, and it was fantastic!

Indeed, I found Recees Pieces and Peanut Butter Cups two weeks ago at Tesco Lotus at Seacon Square. I wonder if they are available at other branches. I usually go to On Nut. I will have a look, as I am out of coffee and need to go today.
I didn't know about Rolos at Villa. I'm going to have to check that one out!

Okay, I am finally out of that dam_n taxi. Here is the link for them: http://www.scbkk.org/
A worthwhile organization in my opinion. Having seen the slums first hand, some of those people are in real need of any assistance than can be provided.

Second Chance Bangkok is reputable choice benefiting to impoverished inhabitants of the Klong Toey slums. I can't get you their website now on my iPhone , but it should come up in google. They offer a pick-up service, and they are about 10 minutes from your location.

I've eaten there. I had nachos. The portion was huge. It was decent, but I wouldn't go across town for it. I usually go there when I do my 90 day reporting. I found the prices reasonable.

I have been a big fan of noodle soup for a long time. I sample it everywhere. Far and away the best I have ever had is shockingly close to my house. I guess I got pretty luck in that regard. He is so popular that I know of people making a 30-45 minute journey for a bowl of his soup under a dodgy roof on a small soi. Once he opens, customers fill the place, and he will sell out within 2 hours, so there is a limited window of time to get there and get your soup! He is on On Nut Soi 24 almost directly halfway between On Nut Road and Sukhumvit Soi 93 (the road is a cut through between the two). It's a bit out of the way, but worth a stop if you are anywhere nearby. He sells one thing and one thing only: Chicken Noodle Soup. He seems to have mastered the art. If it is your birthday, your noodle soup is free. Unfortunately, I always seem to oversleep and miss it on my birthday. My girlfriend has had the same problem for the last two years! Not that 25 baht is going to break the bank. I get double white meat chicken, so mine is 35 baht, but to each their own.
As for duck, I am not a big fan myself. However, I have friends who love duck. Although not the cheapest around, they swear by 'Duck 2 ways' at http://www.monsoonbangkok.com/ located on Sukhumvit Soi 8. The ambiance is nice and the beer isn't too expensive.
Fried Chicken is another one of those things that I cannot seem to live without. Again, I have sampled stalls all over the city. My favorite is at Bang Jack Station. There is a market on the odd numbered side of the street. The second guy on the left selling southern style fried chicken is simply awesome. I ate it for a month daily before I decided to limit myself to once a week because it certainly isn't good for you. It sure beats anything else I have found.
My girlfriend is a big fan of Sukiyaki. The best she has found is on On Nut Road around Soi 19 at a restaurant formerly known as Eat Good. Now, it is under new ownership and has the name of Simply D. It is opposite the Caltex station.
I guess you can figure out what part of town I live in!!! That being said, I eat mostly western food, as I have grown tired of Thai food. I am still looking for a place that does excellent Pad kapao moo. It can be very hit or miss. I haven't found that outstanding place yet. Anyone have a favorite stall or restaurant for this dish?

Sorted now - I was using my home wifi - that's why!
-
I will need a converter for the microsim. That app is all in Thai and is requiring a wifi password which I don't have!
-
Not to hijack the thread, but how can I check my balance with AIS? I haven't got the slightest clue how to check. The microsim is not compatible with my iPhone 3GS. It is frustrating!

4.evendone that change along Sri Nakarin/Hua Mahk from bus 145/519 to ARL? thats a walk in the hot sun for some 6/700 mtrs.
I have done it without any problem. My neighbor does it everyday on the way to work. It isn't that difficult at all.
There was nothing wrong with my statement that this is one possible option. I did preface it by saying that taking a taxi is simply the best if originating from On Nut!
-
It doesn't make any sense to take the BTS all the way back to Phayathai to take the ARL if you are starting at On Nut. Obviously, the best way is just to take a taxi. You could also take the 519 bus down On Nut Road and get off at Huamark Station and take the ARL from there.

My local distributor who is always spot on in our part of town told me that only Monday is off limits in Bangkok. So, the 9th is dry. Other than that, it's on ...

I find the US the worst for this. There always seems to be a charge when I go back for an annual visit. Free wifi isn't a common thing in Honolulu which is a major tourist destination; although, it is definitely aimed at the higher end of the market.
Here in Thailand, I virtually always have free wifi in a lower price range that you are paying. If there connection is poor in the room itself, it is often quite strong in the restaurant/lobby areas. I have never had to pay for it in Thailand unlike the US.
-
It is still open. I enjoyed the burrito I had there. It is at the end of Sukhumvit Soi 22 before you hit the junction with Soi 24 where the Davis is located. The two partners also own the other restaurant in Chiang Mai that shares a spot with Mike's according to them.

Up to 475 for Chang in Bangkok .... from 455 before the floods!
-
cheers 4 U
It's called "We 4 U". Yep, 60 baht.
On Nut Beer Garden. Large bottle of Chang is 60 baht. Free glass of ice should you require it. Pool tables, lots of seating, and live music sometimes. Tons of food stalls. Friendly service.
-
Well.....as far as I observed for nearly 10 years, drinkers of more than 5 big chang per day have an average survival rate of 5-6 Years. Then their kidneys and liver refuses service, unless they die by motorbike crash before. Leo seems more liverfriendly. Heineken is no beer, just looks alike. No reason to avoid tiger thou.
Are you kidding? I have been drinking Chang daily for about 8 years now with no health problems whatsoever.
-
Lets get out priorities right.
You are right, I should make it an even 10 boxes instead of 8!
-
My local shop here at On Nut is currently stocked, but she said shortages may be coming. I bought 4 boxes which involved 4 trips to the shop on a motorbike. I intend to buy 4 more. Call me greedy, but I gotta have my beer!
-
I had a problem with my card once in Thailand. They sent me another one by DHL which arrived in 3 days.
-
Yes, I can confirm that I have always been credited with the fees from my Schwab account relating to the fees charged by banks in Thailand.
-
Here it comes! I don't care what you lot say. I am concerned now!
-
Mine is closed by government mandate, but looks to open on the 25th when we are due back. This is in central Bangkok, close to the river.
-
This is just commonplace. At Poipet, I hand the 100 baht over with a 20 dollar note. They really do expedite processing. It really pissed off a group of backpackers who were arguing to get the $20 price when they saw my visa issued immediately. I waved hello when I was walking back on my visa run. They weren't too happy!
Any Nice 100 Baht Massage Shops?
in Bangkok
Posted
Yep, 100 baht at On Nut. They are all over the place. The quality can be hit or miss, but it is more often a very good massage. Tip is of course optional depending on how you feel regarding the quality of the massage. 50 baht seems in order for me. I see Thais handing over 20 baht often.
