  1. ironic mode on *GG*

I'll spare you the details. An exchange is a national/provider thing. NOT depending on the area, it has to do with DID and DIDX.

So you can have ANY phone number you like. Right now, TOT would charge you around 50000,- THB if you fancy to have the number 1234 like pizza hut.

Telegraph Poles ? Seriously? ROFL. Haven’t seen them in Thailand at all, so please ( that is to all of you guys at TV) enlighten me! Ever seen one? I do assume, you have power at your place, right?? Okay, that is a power pole =)) and there is no way you can hang a phone wire to it? This is the place where phone-cables here usually go..

    ironic mode off

So wherever you got your information from, please reconsider finding a second opinion! Thailand is a beautiful country worth living in. If you learn to understand the local language and custom – you will be a happy camper- and you can read the sign saying chiang tolesap or chiang fei next to your property.

TOT charges12 B a meter for their wire 15 afaik that would make a whopping 2 miles if they would charge you 20 b. are you farming out threre?

there are no numbers available where i live, i have been on a waiting list for 5 years

all the major telephone providers have been out, surveyed and provided no solid answers

TOT actually did a survey two years ago and initially took my money, then cancelled and refunded it when they discovered they had surveyed the wrong place!

  2. i live out by Mabprachan. i have no phone line so have little choice in provider

    however i chose true 3g H on a contract at 599 + tax

    its been good for me

only drawback is the throttle back to Edge by CAT after 5GB has been downloaded

A couple of friends of mine live out there, they have adsl from TOT ... well, it's not great - but a good choice if you need to download huge files, or even a torrent or two.

    if you have a phone........

A line is 108 THB and free instalation.. so , this shouldnt hold you back ;-)

if you can get me one for that i would be very obliged indeed

as it is there's no numbers available in the exchange

the last one was sold at auction locally for 55,000 baht two years ago

other than that i would have the added obstacle that there's no telegraph poles, cables or otherwise to deliver it even if i had a spot in the exchange

they would want another 50,000 to get the wire to my house

I agree however that is with TrueMove mobile I assume? I think the OP is talking about air cards. I also have True 3G H for 599+ and I have an iPhone so I use it as my "hotspot" and can run my Macbook or iPad from it at the same time but like timekeeper says after it slider back down to Edge after 5GB it gets slow but still ok for emails etc.

    you are back then ?

i thought you had Gone?, Gone

you assume wrong, its in an Aircard......

  6. Central Festival Beach mall, Tuk Com electronics center on south Pattaya road, and Big C (aka Carrefour) all have car wash/detail shops I their parking garages. You can leave the car for a wash and do some shopping at the same time.

yes they are ok if you are happy to pay 350 baht....

  7. one of the few redeeming factors in Rayong is Number 43 Italian bistro in the Kantary Bay complex at the beach

the food is simply delightful and better than anything available in Pattaya

  8. for those with an interest in this i am happy its open again

personally i hated it simply for all the telemarketing calls i got from them

however the best bit about it re-opening for me is that Tony will have to eat a big slice of humble pie

in that his new radio advertising campaign is offering a 10% / 20% discount on his gym memberships on production of a membership card from the 'other big gym that has just closed''

now that's a moment to savor........

    Was that 10 or 20%?

    10 annual 20 lifetime

  10. Renovation? Why didn't you ask them?

The Thai word for renovation had quite slipped my mind but I googled it "การปรับปรุงใหม่"

Now I'll ask the check-out girls. Besides, others might have been interested. tongue.png

I've just heard that they are closing down for a 2 month renovation.

there's a sign in Thai and English in the middle of the cleared area that says they apologize for any inconvenience during the renovations,,,,,,,,

  11. There was a thread on this a while back. No they didn't charge 200 Baht, their charges were much less than that, maybe 140-160.

They were actually very good and convenient, but they stopped due to lack of business.

I think they should have persevered as I know for sure that there is a demand for home car cleaning - so much better than hanging around at car washes for an hour or more.

I reckon an enterprising Thai entrepreneur would clean up if he did a good, reasonably priced job, and knew how to advertise his services.

Having said all that, there is a car wash near the 7/11 going up to Horseshoe Point that will come and collect your car, clean it and then drop it back to your home. I'm not over keen on this as it means trusting them with my vehicle.

    the mobile service was great

i was very sorry to hear they had ceased trading

they were well worth the 200 baht i gave them

as to allowing a service to pick it up, clean and return

how many threads on TV are related to poor driving skills by the locals?

you allow the same people being universally condemned to drive your car?

    not me........

  12. The two shops are owned by the same people. I have had nasty experiences with both shops, one involving a brand new water pump.

I now get all maintenance and repair work done by the guy who provides such a service to the Pig & Whisle on Soi 7. His name is Joe and his mobile number is 0819822036. He and his lads can fix anything and have never had cause to complain. He recently overhauled my aircon and charged 600 baht including for the new parts.

I take all my Bosch tools up to BKK and let Bosch overhaul them, a service that they have hitherto provided for free.

I went there today and they gave me a phone No which was not in use?? Not very polite, will never go there again.

Found a small shop in Naklua and as always in Naklua the Thai/Chinese shop owners polite and helpful, got another phone no and the pump man will come tomorrow morning.

If he is no good I will try your guy, thanks.

    sorry about that guys

    i had no such problems

in fact the fixed my K'archer sprayer for free....

  13. I have individual transformers and have had a few go out, but only a few. But they are outside and a bit of water has seeped in. Trouble for sure.

I'd talk with the people where you bought them...if they are new, take them back! Raro took back a toilet seat that was a month old because the screws were rusting. They took it back and let him get a better one!!

If you can, visit the electric shop on Thepprasit. Left side as you are heading towards the beach. It's just past that gas station on the right. The guy in there is really smart and might be able to help you out????

    raro-toilet seat-return-too much information.......
