  1. maybe 70-80 Baht less from On Nut.

From Sala Daeng, Taxi would most probably ask u to use the Tollway from Rama4. which would cost you an extra 60-70 Baht tollway-fees.

from On Nut, no tolls to be paid, going down Sukhumvit, then Bangna-Trat road. not much of a difference in travelling time, using the tollway outside rush-hours is usually a straight-forward thing.

if you are on a budget, then take the BTS to On Nut (I assume that was your plan) and then the public Bus 552 ? 553 ? 554 ? which costs 35 Baht and runs approx. every 20 minutes or so

Bus no. 552 ends up in the public transportation center. You have to take a shuttle bus to reach the terminal.

    Runs every 30 min.

If you don't have much luggage I would recommend to take a van from Onnut.

Stop is right under the BTS station (Bus stop Bang Na direction). Every 10 min for 25 Baht. Trip time: 45-60 min

    Drop-off: ground floor airport terminal.

Taxi from Onnut via expressway entry Soi 50 = price 195 Baht plus 55 for the tollways.

Time 20-25 min even during rush hour

  2. Indeed, he does not mention the riots in upcountry provinces...fact is, if a travel warning can save the life of even one single tourist, that's good enough.

I am also operating in the travel/hospitality business and I don't share the same views expressed by executives such Heinecke or Matzig during the recent crisis: Thailand was [and still is] living a serious crisis, almost on the verge of a civil war and it was duty of the Foreign Government to issue travel warnings for its citizens.

Let's be reasonable and step aside the selfishness of corporate balance sheets!

    Second that.

    Entirely self-serving.

A letter by Heinecke with almost the same words was published on June 4th,

just 2 weeks after the riots ended demanding the lift the emergency decree.

  3. Thanks for the replies, if the train is often late I had better get the bus if I can find one getting into Bkk early morning.

Taxi is your best bet I think. The entry to the express way (Rama 4) is 5km away from Hua Lamphong station.

Once you are there you make it to the airport in 30 min.

No outbound traffic in the morning.

Expect cost of about 300 Baht, incl. express way tolls.

Bus takes too long and you might end up waiting for a long time.

  4. There's another Orient-Thai 747 parked on the apron at Udon Thani airport... been there almost a year I reckon. It only has 2 engines with just the pylons remaining for the couple that have been removed. About 3 months ago, they painted over the Orient-Thai artwork, logos and registration so I reckon it's there for good. But why?

Just looked at that website and HS-UTK is the one listed at UTH. Thanks for the link Mac!

Orient Thai B747-246, Reg HS-UTJ is stored at DMK (Don Muang).

Wonder who is paying for all the parking fees.

    Doesn't come cheap.

    This must cost a fortune.

  5. I can not see using this myself. It seems much easier to get a taxi.

    Second that.

There is no benefit at all, not in time and not in fare, unless you live or stay very near at one of the stations.

Ever tried to reach Makkasan during heavy rain??

And the word is : 1 train per hour only.

Good luck if you have to catch a flight.

You miss the train, you might miss your flight.

I wouldn't take any chances and stick to a cab.

From Onnut 25 Min, 205 Baht plus 55 for the xpress way.

  6. PASAYA is by far the best you can find. Real world class.

Even better than 5 Star Hotel linen.

    www.pasaya.com

They have a store in Siam Paragon 3F, but you can also find their products in other department stores.

Currently Central Chitlom runs bedding promotions. 5th Floor promotional space.

    Check it out.

  7. From Chong Nonsri BTS Station, southbound on Narathiwat Road to Phraram 3 (Rama 3) Road, then west to Thanon Tok intersection (the intersection of Phraram 3 with Charoen Krung Road).

There may be a plan to extend it across the river someday ? But I am not holding my breath waiting. As someone said above, it has taken them years to get this little project built, and it is not finished yet. And in 15 yrs., here, I have certainly seen lots of maps in the newspapers, with lots of pretty coloured lines on them. I think that a majority of the ones I saw a decade or more ago are still not operational.

    Here is the map.

  8. This can all be stopped with the reds going home. Is risking your life really worth 500 Baht a day from Thaksin?

    The money has gone up.

All my neighbours here in the Samutprakarn village had been promised 100.000 Baht per household if the reds succeed.

Registration for the daily wage and the end bonus at Imperial Samrong Reds office.

Neighbours are saying they will join the rally to take the 100k for the children's future education.

  9. Looking at the replies of some of the longer term residents I am sure that their mental development is severely flawed or severely damaged in some way, the lack of political knowledge and indeed any conception of the corruption involved in the Thai political spectrum indicates that either a total lobotomy has been performed or it's a case of ''what the wife tells me I believe.''
Klose, a resident of Bangkok and Ubon Ratchathani, added that it was his third time at the protests and he was hoping a dissolution of Parliament would help resolve the current chasm.

"This is becoming a people's movement. The country has been divided in the last month and I am worried about the direction it is heading in," said Frank Klose, a German who has been living in Thailand for the past 20 years.

I am here to support freedom of speech, freedom of protest and corruption free elections. We should have a democracy without interference like in the US,"

However, he admitted he was not too knowledgeable about Thai politics, and mainly came in support of his Thai wife, who is a strong activist.

    Second that !

  10. KLIA to LCC is too far to walk. I think it is approx 5km. However, there is a free shuttle bus service. THere is also many taxis who can take you to LCC but I caution you on the fares which is not fixed and most don't use the meter.

There are "free" frequent shuttle busses between the terminals.

The ride takes approx 25-30 minutes.

There is no need to take a cab a switch to a rail service.
