  1. Many of the better Nokia smartphones support Wifi tethering. The coming Android generation (2.2) may also support it, depending on your phone.

That is the way to go: get a Nokia 3G phone with Wifi, use it as a hot spot, and connect your iPad, Itouch and other devices over Wifi.

The cheapest compatible Nokia (5800) starts around 9000 Baht.

  2. It's a mixed story.

Filipinos are more friendly than Thais, and you can have some meaningful discussion with them if they have some education - rarely the case in Thailand.

Landscapes in the Philippines are more beautiful too. Much better beaches and not overrun. Palawan has some incredible tourist spots, nothing comparable in Thailand. And generally it is cheaper than Thailand, including hotels.

But as has been said, the country is run down, has crappy infrastructure, crappy medical system, crappy roads and public transport. It is not safe everywhere. But the worst is the food, which is by far the worst in the whole of Asia. You can be lucky if you can find a Western restaurant somewhere, but even then it is just for filling you up, not for some pleasure.

I'd regard it as a nice holiday spot, good for a few weeks but not for a living unless you are on a really low budget.

  3. I see a woman/girl with a gun to her head being called a bi_ch.

So it is a shirt making light of violence and it is degrading to women.

It's somewhat hilarious what some people find "offensive" or "degrading".

One of the best things in Thailand is the non-existence of political correctness.

Those of you who went successfully through the Western reeducation system may learn something positive from this harmless t-shirt.

  4. I ride a Baht bus (songtau) every dad. I have done this for 6 years. I have also noticed some very interesting seemingly common body language that is consistent in almost all Thai women.

I have thought about posting a thread about it. But the only validation I have would involve another a discussion about my already overdone sex life. So I guess I will keep the information to myself.

I think the big majority here would love to hear the stories.

Just ignore the puritans. Secretly they are full of envy anyway... :)

  5. I bought a camera in Panthip Plaza which was defective a few months later. I have only a Thai warranty, probably the reason why it was cheaper than at the big shops.

OK, returned the camera, got a receipt and now I'm waiting, waiting.....

Already 6 weeks have passed, and when calling the shop the girl just says, "not finished yet, have to wait". No date given how long this "wait" will take. And not much efforts to help get my camera back.

In my home country, I could ask for money back or an exchange. But here in Thailand, is there anything else I can do except for "wait"?

Learned a lesson at least - don't buy products with a local warranty.

  6. Many a Farang has married his 'good' Thai woman beleiving himself to be the first Farang she ever met.

Only to discover that despite the fact she left school at 12 years old, she's proficient in several European languages, Japanese and Korean.

Quite exactly the skills of a 9 years old girl selling postcards at Angkor Wat.

I wonder why some people think Thai women are not able to do this.

  7. Other asian girls are different, you go to Japan, or korea or maybe taiwan. Somewhere where your money is worth less and you'll find just how much these girls could not give a fck! about you and your "personality".

    Nonsense.

If you have some game and personality, it is no problem to have a Japanese, Korean, Taiwanese GF 20-25 years younger than you.

    Been there, done that.

  8. Have you seen a lot of NGO articles about trafficked lady boys? Or abused lady boys?

    Of course not.

Ladyboys are still boys. And in the world of PC and feminist ideology, men and boys are just scum - not worth to mention. NGOs are heavily dominated by feminists, and that shows what they care and what they don't care.

  9. Contrast that with reports from NGOs and academic research which contradicts what you believe. Or indeed, extracts from press reports which provide records of abuse (sorry they're referred to as myths in this thread)

NGOs are probably the greatest pest for 3rd world countries since most missionaries have gone. And show me one which is not dominated by radical feminists.

"Academic research" about the subject discussed here comes mainly from 'gender studies' and is equally highly ideologic cr@p.

  10. This raises a question - When someone cannot choose, they cannot freely give consent.

There are plenty of poor Thai people who choose not to work in the sex industry and makes ends meet with common jobs. As usual, on this subject, your rhetoric has little to do with reality. :whistling:

    Typical 1970 feminist drivel.

I just wonder how people can repeat that over and over again. A quick look at reality would show that 99% of Thai women don't work in the sex industry, and therefore are not forced at all.

  11. have very little experience with "free" women

The so called "free women" in the West are not so free when you look closer. Actually they do the same what a Gullivers-Freelancer does: she shags around "with no strings attached" and is of course very proud to be "free" and "independant".

Reality is, she still dreams of the knight on a white horse who will end her "freedom".

Don't listen what women say - but listen what women do.

  12. How many men can turn down very attractive, willing, feminine and affordable women who will - at least pretend to - actually  enjoy your company?  :)

I'm sure, the zealots here can turn down such offers.

But deep in their heart, when they return home to their wives, who may just have some severe "headache" that day, they feel this deep regret which they cannot and will not admit.

That's the reason where the bitterness and aggression comes from.

  13. I wonder that this natural sex drive appears more prevalent in western men when they are in Thailand........in that they do not appear previously to have funded similar activities in their homelands.........perhaps the Thai women are just such good breeding material the urge is beyond control?

Has nothing to do with Western man. Thai men are actually more promiscuous, just think of the all those "motels" around every corner.

Most societies / religions / ideologies don't allow promiscuous behavior. Thailand is very relaxed in this aspect, so it happens more often. In a conservative Muslim country you will get harsh punishments, and it happens less often. But it still happens.

    You cannot change human nature.
