The Judge let the Soi 10 / Chuwit gang off the hook.
It was nite and too dark to identify anybody. Yea, look it up. That's what he said.
Hundreds of guys, arriving with heavy equipment, fencing welders, trucks on the corner of Sukhumvit Soi 10, wrecked 100 businesses and nothing could be done. Where were the Lumpini cops?
He made millions in the massage business. The Thai people love him. Go figure

If you are King Power or a Limo Tout or a AOT Official lining your pockets, then the new airport is just perfect. You think these people care about Thailand and its reputation?
Screw over every single person walking thru the door seems to be the policy.
(OK this is where Bendix steps in, says the Airport is great and anybody that disagrees with him should go home...)

Sounds like sombody hired the Chuwit Moving and Hauling Company...
What's a landowner to do?
The lease had expired months ago and they had been givin notice to move.

For every rat you see, there are 1000 more.
No shortage of food since the vendors feed them daily by throwning scraps in the sewer.

Not too happy with True/UBC.
What are the options ?
YES of course there options..
Can't understand why people pay all that money evey month for UBC
Myself have Jsat.tv ... buy the dish and set top box..... I have over 2,600 FREE to View channels.... there are 28 Sats up there over Thailand, I have both C & Ku band satellite, via the internet connected Dreambox. these start around 10,500 baht installed.. NEVER pay again
Sounds too good to be true. I'll look them up.

The cheating of tourists is a big problem. There is no protection and the Tourist Police are helpless.
It starts at the Airport and the poor il-informed tourists is pased off from one cheater to another.
Every tourist spot is crawling with scam artists looking to fleece visitors.
They troll there all day, every day, looking for sombody to lie to.
They are a bunch of disrespctfull, uneducated thugs.
No wonder the TAT needs to fine new customers every year.

The point/shoot cameras do a decent job.
Get an SLR if you like to tweak the settings and do creative photography.

A few greedy people at Customs ruin it for everybody.
If they like your car, there is a good possibility they will want to keep it or sell it.
If they don't like it, they will tax you so high it won't be worth it.
This is pretty much the way all gov agencies work. Exploit the position. Jerk people around, take their money.
The people that make it to the top are getting rich.

"A two-week investigation led by Tortrakul Yomnak, a chief engineer for Airports of Thailand and a leader of the anti-Thaksin movement, had warned that the airport might need to be closed for three years.
He later stated that the runway was safe, and that cracks could be repaired in as little as a few hours. "
Well, what is it? A few years or a few hours?
Why did those airlines move back to Don Mueng anyway?
The real motive behind moving some passenger flights to Don Mueang was supported by powerful business interests (payoffs) likely to allow more cargo flights to move from Suvarnabhumi.

On 27 January 2007, he Department of Civil Aviation declined to renew the airport's safety certificate, which expired the previous day. The ICAO requires that international airports hold aerodrome safety certificates, but Suvarnabhumi will continue to operate because the ICAO requirement has yet to be adopted as part of Thai law.

I've never had problems catching a taxi on the upstairs departures level drop off area and all are willing to use the meter. Fare from Suwanna to Sukhumvit soi 15 is about baht 200 plus highway tolls of 65.
Just a word to the wise.
The airport taxi mafia has recently sizably increased its presence on the departures level and grabbing a taxi there is not as problem-free as previously. However, a quick recce from even the less-experienced eye will be able to spot these criminals, particularly if you know what to look for. They will be parked, often in the best spot, directly outside the doors. They will be immune to the loud "shouting car" from the AoT which goes around 'shouting' at the taxis to leave promptly and use their indicators. They will be over-friendly and have far too many questions. Their manner will not tally with that of ordinary Thais doing ordinary service jobs. They will avoid any discussion of the meter.
It is best to go for taxis who are actually dropping somebody off thereby increasing your chances of avoiding professional airport passenger scammers.
Of course the next natural step for the mafia is to intimidate the ordinary taxi drivers into not taking any fares from the airport as they did with some success at the old Don Meuang. Let's hope that step is a long time coming.
spoke to many taxi drivers over a time ,they say they dont like picking up from the airport after dropping off ,as they are scared of the mafia ........
The legit Taxi operators are afraid of the Airport Taxi Mafia but the AOT does nothing.
Nice introduction to Thailand at the new world class airport.
Get an overpriced ride into town by criminals. Great.

The shop on Thong Lor, between Soi 14 & 16 serves the Singapore Hainanese Chicken Rice.

A Farang/Thai couple I knew in Australia had her mother-in-law visit them, and she used to like fishing. One time when they weren't home she caught a puffer fish and cooked it, when they returned she was dead. Locals of course know not to eat those unsightly looking fish, unfortunately she obviously didn't. No doubt about how dangerous they can be, to deliberately sell them disguised as Salmon, one wonders what type of person could do such a reprehensible thing.
Could it be the same fish company that stuffs lead weights into the shrimp head ?

Mass exodus?
5% of the visitors to Thailand are from the USA and maybe 1% of them are behind on child support?
Just a guess.
I don't think many deadbeat dads from the USA are traveling the world.

Fleeing the scene.
Isn't that in the Thai Driver Education Booklet?

Lots of success stories.
Most don't flaunt it.

I can't understand it, why when I pay a premium to have a UPS package delivered I can watch it wniging it's way from country to country via Denmark and Dubai in less than 24hrs and then............. Bangkok, scanned in 12 hours ago and still not arrived and I am less than 1 hour from the airport on a major road (which incidentaly has no traffic problems today).
It is just so frustrating sometimes why things move so slow here.
Ah, I feel better for that.
The item has to clear Customs.
Sometimes it can take 10 days, numerous phone calls, faxes, emails, messengers picking up your passport, under the table payments, screwups, noodle breaks, naps, etc. Takes time.
The last thing you want to do is let them know you are in a rush.

In essense a military gov't really is only good and protecting a country from itself and that's a pretty big discounting of the people's ability to manage their affairs.
Thai Military protecting the Country? That would be nice.
What are the chances? About the same as finding an honest cop.
When it comes to corruption, the Thai Military has no equals.
Believe me. They are only looking out for #1, themselves.
Thai Military is the most corrupt of all Thai agencies..and that is saying allot.
How many Mercedes Benz are purchased by the military every year I wonder?

The place is starting to look more like Burma.
Investors and tourists will notice.
Not good.

Let's not leave out the wonderfull Swiss restaurant on Suk Soi 20, CHESA.
Lunch about 500- 1000 bt.
-
La Maison on Wireless in Raffels Hotel.
I prefer the more casual places like Indigo on Convent or Bulieu on Suk 19.
Deluxe lunch for 2 including desert, wine & appertiffs should come out around 3-4 thousand.
-
Unfortunatly, this is a common issue.
Thais located overseas, often bring in help from Thailand and expect to pay them Thai wages, give them "housing" in the restaurant storeroom and work them 16 hours a day.

Such hyperbole really does show where heads such as yours and the OP are. If you've been living in Thailand for many years as you say you have, then it's time to pull you head out of the sand and look around.
I'll go further. It's time this guy pulled his head out of the sand and went home, if he's so frigging miserable. But, as many here suspect, there is nothing for him to go back to, and instead he mopes around, bitter and angry at both Thailand and those farangs who relish there time here.
Cue another boring response suggesting Bendix (Mr Humility) spends more time here before opening his mouth.
Where's the yawn emoticon for a guy who is rapidly becoming thaivisa's most boring git (as he was in a previous life, before being banned).
Go home? Very original Mr. Bendix. Did you think that one up just now?
Can't defend your position so name calling is about all that is left.
Just go out and ask a bunch of Thai people if they trust their fellow man. Don't take my word for it.
