  1. In my village the ICE MAN delivers the lovely stuff everyday, 1 days notice for a carton of leo, all you need is a suitable size esky/s I have 1 larger for party mode, &a smaller version for 1/2 people, then you chill your bargain price beers in the esky & by late afternoon you can give it hel_l. If you would like a demonstration you'll have to visit.

  2. My last trip to thailand I purchased audio tapes "Auto Thai' vol 2 to play over &over in my car on the way to work in aust, after 2 months the tapes were jamming, after numerous attempts to recoil tape, it would happen again. The learning vocab itself is good, it's just the tape quality is not there. REFUND? or EXCHANGE? the products are made by DLC language products & the leaflet assure's quality product.

Where do I go from here,I have an address in BKK, or to the shop were I purchased them from. Any advice or similiar problems?

    regards songhklasid.

  3. Hi All

I am planning a trip to Chanthaburi next month with my GF. Could anyone offer any suggestions for a mid-range hotel near the beach? Is there stuff to do at night around this area? Is it better to stay near town and commute to the beach? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Brian

I've stayed twice @K.P. grand hotel, good rooms, good pool, with breakfast, 5 mins walk to robinsons, I took my young bloke, we went to oasis sea park, dolphin show, swim with dolphins, scenic waterfalls, city tour, not much in the way of nitelife though.

regards songhklasid. P.S. roomrate was 1300/1400baht (4 yrs ago)

  4. Does anyone know or use a good hotel provider service in the isaan area, I typed in surin in asiarooms & they come up surin beach phuket.I usually use hotels2thailand but they can't give me rates for next month for ubon top hotel?any help or suggestions appreciated.

    kind regards all songhklasid

  5. Has anyone done this journey, how long does it take? any tips thankfully received.

    regards songhklasid.

You can take a golden mini buses, which run regularly from Surin to the border. I am not sure of the price, but it's around the 100B mark. From the border you can take a taxi to Siem Riep which should cost around 2500B. It all depends on the state of the road/track to how long it takes. Its normally around 5 hrs though.

Thankyou, I take it 2500B would be a taxi for me/gf not share with 6 others? also the border crossing all o.k. $20U.S. & photo ? so if I leave early morning, should make S.R. mid afternoon all going well,

  6. G'day all,I want to go from ubon to siem riep, I figured the best way was to go via surin & hopefully catch the main elephant w/end, but I'll be 2-3 days after,My plan was to bus ubon- surin o/nite then maybe taxi/bus to camb border, then maybe change taxi/ bus to siem riep, can I do in 1 day? thanking you all for any help.

    regards songhklasid

  7. Can anyone tell me the dates of the main w/end of the elephant show @ surin in november? I would like to see, then carry on to the thai/camb border then on to siem riep, has anyone done this route by bus/taxi &good hotels in surin ? thanking you for your help

  8. Has anyone ever traveled this stretch, from pakse southern laos to siem riep cambodia, I know lao airlines fly 2/3 times a week, but its $200 US return, I was wondering the distance? & bus or taxi or is it one of those horror journeys you only seem to get in cambodia

    regards songhklasid.

  9. That sounds a beauty, I'd get a open ticket, stop off @ udon, a few days in nong-khai, then on to the paradise of ubon, then home to sankhaemphaeng, chaing-mai, what a great 3 week holiday that would be, ah dream on,Is somebody in airline industry reading this.

    regards songhklasid.

  10. I just re-checked thai site :happy the way 2 asia: promotion, return BKK-UBP 2160 BAHT + taxes, anyway the trend is in the right direction. in aust with nat. carrier that would be 10000baht.

    regards songhklasid

  11. I flew from Ubon Ratchathani to Bangkok with AirAsia two weeks ago, using I ticket that I purchased two weeks prior to that. All-in price was 382 baht which included one checked bag and a pre-booked seat. No matter what deals TG is currently running, I'll bet they don't come close to that.

Price all up with thai for 4 domestic flights was 6000 baht,1500 each journey, as I said this time it suited to avoid a o/nite stay in BKK. Why cant an airline even twice a week, fly CNX to udon thani, then to ubon ratchathani &return, I'm sure it would attract interest.

lets hear your views, regards songhklasid.

  12. At the moment thai domestic flights are comparable if not cheaper than the lcc's,I am flying CNX-UBP,chaing-mai-ubon rat. via BKK, thai has more flights, baggage checked right thru, more convenient times. go to thai booking site, look for special deals, designed to attract more custom, they won me this time.to do the same with A.A I have to o/nite in BKK, because A.A. have 1 flt only to ubon, early morning, with no connecting flt from CNX.

    regards songhklasid.

  13. I saw a post some months ago, cant find it now, on the slight local variations in language in isaan area, I can speak reasonable thai, but wanted to impress friends on my next visit to ubon.

    regards songkhlasid.

    P.S. 20baht/ yeesip baht/ sou baht/ northern dialect

thanking you for any help. :)

  14. Arriving on the Air Asia flight due in at 0830.

Do buses/vans etc. run to downtown Ubon and how much do they charge?

    Thanks.

Taxis, hirecars,80 baht to most hotels,

    regards songhklasid

  15. IMHO if you're coming for a holiday and not for an extended time just leave the laptop at home and enjoy life and disconnect yourself for the holiday. If you really need to keep in touch there are enough cafes around to check and send emails. Its just another bag to carry and worry about and hassle with in the airports and you will only use it a few percent of the time you're here.

I was thinking the same myself, I dont like lugging & worrying about something that's not neccessary, also the place i am thinking of staying @ in ubon offers free internet connection, could I get stung with download or usage charges, could cost more than the room charge, ah still pondering.

    thanks for your help fella's

    regards songhklasid.

  16. I posted before but got no reply, I've got a laptop & was thinking of bringing it to thai on my next trip in july, what r the pitfalls with free internet advertised @ some hotels/rooms, do i get wireless connection local? I admit i'm a novice (laptops) Im even limited on my P.C.

    regards songhklasid

  17. I have just purchased a dell laptop, I was thinking of bringing it along on my next visit, maybe to look at new areas to visit , play music, visit websites, what do i do regards internet, what internet service is good etc. I am a novice with travelling computers,I am still mastering this 1.
