Global interest rates are going south so to argue that you will get 6% ongoing is very optimistic (if these are pounds). Your return ongoing is likely to be much lower next year. This investment (which i am invested in) is of course subject to occupancy rates being maintained in the region of 70% and the management's expenses are kept to a reasonable level as per the budget. If you study the numbers you will understand the returns. There is a risk as in any business that the returns will be lower. However I have met the owners (from Norway and already developing here in Pattaya/well connected Thai) and my rationale is that money in the bank over the next few years will be a poor investment choice compared to a potential high return in this venture which seems well run and well supported. The building is almost on the beach in a great location and the renovation is about 65% complete the sea views cannot be obstructed for 20 years minimum without the managements agreement . It could be an investment or used as a condo unit with hotel facilities as required. With virtually a zero marketing spend the project is selling well because the outlay is quite small (1.5 million upwards). But of course money in the bank is safer (especially in Iceland)!

I think you're mixing up Fatboy Diner which was located in Avenue Pattaya on the 2nd floor near the Major Cineplex box office, and Fattie's Pattaya located on 2nd Road between Soi 1 and Soi 2. Fatboy Diner was only open a short time before it closed. I never got a chance to try it. Fatties sells good burgers and is still in business.

Yes, Fatties on Second road close to Big C. I have eaten the 600g burger (a long time ago) and it was quite good. It's good to know Fatties has kept the quality and I will keep it in mind next time I am in the mood for a burger!!

I am familiar with Fatboy's Diner in the Avenue. I heard from a friend that it was pretty good. Too bad it closed already.

I kind of like to hear things like that. Brits do travel well. In the USA, foreign travel is still not that common for many. Most have no idea of actually visiting Asia once, never mind repeating. So many people live very parochial lives and don't venture far. So many people are in hock, or mortgaged to their necks, even ones gainfully employed and making money. I am fortunate to have some friends that are pretty well off both savings and income wise and they do travel. They were good role models instead of the "traditional" USA middle class stereotype.

Can't wait to get back to the LOS. Going on trip number 9! Who would have thought! Not too far back in my memory, I was broke, jobless and homeless. Can't describe how good it feels the moment I step outside the airport arrival gate and get that fresh dose of Thailand.

its not soi 6 walking st that chopper wants you to try ,its soi 6 beach road to 2nd road as has the more upmarket nice girls there...i suggest soi 7 and 8 too as known as classier areas too.

try beach road between soi6 and walking st as many of the nicer ladies like to watch the sun go down and hang about there as is a very romantic place and they can be trusted more as they arent bar workers, gogo workers and too old to get in the discos.

i was thinking of opening a more upmarket disco in pattaya but looks like only me and now you would be in there unless you could bring some of those classy(read expensive) ladies down from bkk.

I remember a Bangkok best hamburger contest. I won't go into detail but I had a hamburger at the number 1 and 2nd place winners. They really tasted nothing like a hamburger, lots of fillings and spices. If I want sausage, I'll order sausage. The Brits like spices in their hamburgers. Americans on the other hand like 100 percent beef with no additives. Beef should taste like beef.
