It should have no effect on doing 90 day reports again.

    Dear Friends,
Today I went to the Immigration Office in Korat  for the 90 day report. There is big sign at the front -written in English, Thai , Lao and Cambodian Languages. "No need to fill the application form. Get a queue card and go to the counter"
I was the first person and only one . I gave my passport to the Officer. The 90 day report was done in 3 minutes. I got the paper attached to my passport for the next report. I have been going to this Immigration Office for the past 11 years. Nice people and good and efficient Service and help. I am glad to live for my retirement , in this Province of Nakhon Ratcha Sima.

Reading your post carefully, I think your current permission to stay is based on a one-year extension from an immigration office in Thailand, not a 90-day entry from a Non O visa. If this is wrong, please post a clarification.

Assuming I am correct, you just extend your permission to stay normally as in previous years.

Thank you for the reply. I will go to the Immigration office , next week. I will get an extension for one more year just before the due date.

  3. Thanks for the Information Update. My Non-Imm O visa is due for renewal on October 02 , 2020. I have been renewing the Visa every year with the Income Affidavit Document from the Canadian Embassy in Bangkok, for the past 10 years. I am thinking of visiting the Immigration Office in Korat next week to update my 90 Day report and ask about my Non-Imm O Visa renewal.

That means you do not need insurance since you did not enter using a Non-OA visa.

There is not quota for applying for a Thai nationality. The quota if for a applying for a permanent residency at immigration under the immigration act. Thai citizenship is done under the Nationality Act and is applied for at the Special Branch police office.

Thai is due to immigration not having anything to do with applying for Thai nationality. Immigration only processes permanent residency applications.

Both require you to be working with a work permit and paying taxes.

    Thank you very much, Ubonjoe.

I will check for the Permanent Residency Status. I am a retired Canadian Citizen of Indian Origin. I wish to stay in Thailand for a long time. Only visits to India and Canada , every year. My Danish friend in Kalasin Province says to me that I should live , retire and die in Thailand. I said to him " Yes. That is my plan and I wish my ashes be immersed in the Mighty Mekong River ."  Hope it will work out for me.

    Please take care.

    Thanks . Regards,

    Ken Sundaram.

  5. Thank you , Ubonjoe.

As I have sent my reply to Peter Denis,

The first Visa stamp was NON_IMM "O" .

The subsequent passports showed the same category. The recent New Passport

    stamp shows NON_IMM.

I heard from friends that Thailand Government gives Citizenship to 100 people of different Nationalities. When I asked for information at Korat IO , they told me it is not easy and could not provide more information.

    Thanks. Regards.

    Ken Sundaram.

That stamp just says it was a non immigrant visa of some kind.

Look on the first visa page in your passport and there is a large stamp with info about the visa you used for entry years ago on it if you have gotten a new passport since and then had the stamps transferred at immigration.

You have to be working with a work permit and paying taxes for at least 3 years to apply for permanent residency.

  7. Hi, Peter
Thank you very much for your reply. I am sorry I did not check the Thai Visa Forum for few days, since I had been busy with Temple and  Government Functions in our Tambon.
    - My first Visa which I got it at the Thailand Consulate , in Munich. ( I was working in Germany at that time, few months before retirement). It was NON_IMM " O " Category. I have been renewing the Visa every year and the stamp was done on new passport also. The new passport visa shows NON-IMM  as the category.
I will go to the Korat Immigration office next week and get the 90 day report.
I will contact @ubonjoe  for information on Permanent Residence.
    Thanks  again and Kind Regards.

    Hi Ken,

1 - That Oct 02, 2020 you mention refers to the permission to stay date from the Non Imm O Visa which expired 11 years ago, but which you have been extending every year.

2 - Your 90-day report was due on April 19.  Because of the Amnesty it has been automatically extended and considered 'done on due date'.  Your next 90-day report will be due July 17, but no need to do anything because also that date still falls in the Amnesty, and by not doing it will also be considered 'done on due date',  The official confirmation of how IO will handle 90-day reports not done during the Amnesty will be announced before the end of the Amnesty, but some offices already indicated that IO will apply this 'considered done on due date' method, which would mean your next due date will be 14 October.

3 - Whether you have a Non Imm O-A or a Non Imm O Visa, is indicated on the sticker in your passport when the Visa was issued to you 11 years ago.  If you have a new passport in mean time, Immigration will have indicated on the first page of that new passport whether you transfered your latest permission to stay stamp from a Non Imm O-A or Non Imm O Visa.

Note: In case the Visa was issued to you 11 years ago by an in-country IO (after you having entered the country VisaExempt or on a Tourist Visa), then you definitely are here now on 1-year extension based on an original Non Imm O Visa.  The Non Imm O-A Visa can only be issued to you by a thai Embassy/consulate in your home-country, and it would have provided you with a full 1-year permission to stay when entering Thailand (and such 1-year permission to stay will be provided every time you enter the country during the 1-year validity period of the Visa).

4 - The Guideline document I compiled would only be of relevance for you, if it turns out that you do have a Non Imm O-A Visa.  When staying here on 1-year extensions of stay from such Non Imm O-A Visa, you would be confronted with the now mandatory health-insurance requirement when applying for your next 1-year extension of stay (before the October 2 permission to stay which you presently have expires).  The Guideline document provides you with all details/options when on such a Non Imm O-A Visa for reason of retirement, and wanting to switch to a Non Imm O Visa that does NOT require such health-insurance policy.

So let me know if you are on a Non Imm O-A Visa and then I will gladly sent over.

5 - I am not fully knowledgeable on the topic of how to apply for Permanent Residence.

However @ubonjoe for sure can provide you with all info on that subject.

    > Edit - In a see now that he just did answer that question in the post preceding this one.

  9. To Peter Denis,

Hi, Peter. Thanks for the information on Non-Imm-visa.
    1. My Non-Imm visa is valid till Oct 02, 2020. I have been renewing the Visa every year for the past 11 years , by submitting an affidavit for income , from the Canadoan Embassy , in Bangkok. I never had any problem for renewal at the Korat Immigration Office.
    2. My 90 day report was due on April 19. Now I wait for the announcement after July 31.
    3. Please inform me about the Non-Imm O-A Visa  and Non-Imm O Visa. What is the difference? My Visa stamp shows the category as NON-IMM Retirement Visa.
    4. I am interested in getting a copy of your Guideline Document. My email id
    [email protected]
    5. One more question: How do I get Permanent Residency Status?. At the Korat Immigration Office, I could not get a complete answer. Please send the web link for this.
    -Thanks. Regards .

    Ken Sundaram

  10. Thanks for the detailed information to get the  Non-O ( retirement )visa.
I got my one year extension at the Korat Immigration Office , last month.
This is my 9th year of extension with multiple entry visa. Very friendly staff at the Immigration office in Korat.
I submitted the Affidavit for my Pension Income . We did not submit the TM 30  form .
The lady officer told us that at the time to report for the 90-Day , we should present TM 30 form.
I never had to inform if I go away for a short trip overseas. Now it is not clear for me .  Do I have to inform the immigration? . Please confirm this for me.

If it is a Visa (not an extension), When you return on 24th you will be stamped in for 1 year, no need to renew anything on 31st. If it is an extension with a re-entry permit you will be stamped in for 8 days, and would extend in that period, pending funds in the bank etc.

Thank you very much for the prompt reply. I had done this last year , with 20 days before the expiry of the one year visa and obtained the new one year visa again at Korat Immigration office. I was in doubt about the  short number of days remaining on O-visa.

  12. To Thai Visa Forum
I am a  Retired Canadian citizen with one year Thailand  Retirement Visa .This visa expires on October 02 , 2018.

I have been visiting family and relatives in Canada.

I will return to Thailand on 24th September, with 8 days left on Retirement visa.
Is there any problem? I will renew my visa on 31 st at Korat Immigration Office.

    I would appreciate a quick reply .

  13. I wish to close this topic. My Indian friends visited me in the small town in Isan and enjoyed the hospitality and relaxed . They have left for India , never to return to Pattaya . But they will come back to other beautiful places in Thailand. I wish to thank all the forum members for their comments and views. Have a good time .

  14. Pattaya is a busy tourist resort. Take sensible precautions and the chances of being affected by crime are very low.

Yes. Pattaya is a tourist town , but not touristic place and absolutely not a resort. A resort is a place where one spends time peacefully and relax and rest.

You are right that visiting Pattaya one should take utmost precautions for everything.

I would not visit a place like Pattaya. There are so many beautiful and quiet places along the Mekong River.

  15. They are not Farangs like you. You do not remember anything because you may be too drunk. Many farangs are after these cheap thrills.

There are some tourists who want to see other good attractions nearby , like my Indian friends.

  16. Solution: Don't wear gold chain on neck smile.png

My friend had a collared T-shirt and the chain was not openly visible. The gang must have searhed and took it off.

He should have left all valuables at the safety vault in the hotel. I have heard stories like this many times in this crazy Pattaya.

For Farangs , Pattaya is a paradise. Not for me. I like to visit small villages , towns and see nature and do not have hide my valuables.

I have read over and over that Pattaya came to be a sin capital because of the Farangs. But the people in Pattaya do not care and

the authorities do not , either.

  17. Pattaya , the renowned world capital of sin and sex is also known for day-light robbery.
Four of my Indian friends arrived in Pattaya , yesterday. To-day after touring some places and also on a boat cruise to nearby island ,

they enjoyed the stay until this evening when one of them was robbed by a gang of Gathoys .

These lady boys in groups at the beach side road mobbed these four tourists and literally pushed one of them to the ground

and cut the gold chain on his neck and took off .

All these happened in a couple of minutes. There is no police at this area. These tourists were shocked and did not know what to do except make a complaint to the police at the Walking street.

The friends called me from the police station and my Thai wife talked to the Police officer. She got an answer by the police that they do not patrol the beach area.

Any chance of finding the robbers and getting the chain back?
No . Not in Pattaya - the crazy town.

Tourists will never come to the sin capital of the world.
I am telling my friends not to visit Pattaya. There are so many other beautiful and safe places in Thailand for the tourists to enjoy.
I have asked my friends to report this incident to Tourist Police and also Indian Embassy and the Thai Embassy in India.
