  1. And they blame McDonalds for Thais gaining weight. Right. You're better off with a Big Mac! Even less calories. laugh.png

Luckily, wifey won't even buy these. Only fresh noodles.

Mama noodles box, calories 280 (see label post 18)

Big Mac, calories 549 without Coke and Fries of course

Agreed! I don't eat Big Macs, nor Mama noodles. But the burger is very filling. I'd probably have to eat 2 cups of noodles to be full. smile.png

  2. Bang Saphan is OK. The beach is fair, IMHO. Not much to do. Haven't stayed there in years, but did enjoy a stay many years ago in a place right on the beach. Went back 4 years ago and got eaten alive by bed bugs at one of the bigger places just south of town. Left the next day.

I do like Ban Kruit much better. Still nothing to do, but the beach is wonderful. I've had a car most of the time. Makes a huge difference as you can just pack up and head off if you want.

Same can be said for Thung Wua Laen. Depends on when you are there. Some like it, some hate it. Sand fleas can be a problem at certain times of the year.

  3. There is a hotel I stay at in Bangkok on a fairly regular basis. The pool gets very little sun. It is not covered, but always in the shade. From mid December to med February, it's too cold to even swim in. Very few guests use the pool during this time. I was there last month and it was still cool, but being hot outside, it was OK.

My pool gets sun a better part of the day. Right now, it's almost perfect. We never even used it in January. Too cold.

Your body temp is 37C. Your pool is much cooler that that and water cools a body very fast, 25 times faster than air. After an hour in a cold pool, many will be shivering.

Seems you will have good ventilation. A pool will increase the humidity level a fair amount, I would guess?

I think the recommendation for heating it would be a good thing to investigate. Very interesting design!!

  4. The island is not really that large. Easy to explore most of it in a day. Try a Google search. Actually, quite a bit pops up.

I've got a friend down there, let me see what he says....as you probably know, KC has a relatively strong rainy season.

  5. Years ago I flew with some discount airline from Paris to Madrid. I'd made the booking just a few days before at our hotel and didn't print out the boarding pass. They wanted some ridiculous amount of money to print it for me. Even though it wasn't really needed. Luckily, they found a mistake and printed it there for me.

Seems airlines are doing whatever they can to make extra money now. Ah...the good ol' days of high fares and good service. biggrin.png

  6. Yup ^^^.

And a 500 Baht RCBO would likely have saved him sad.png

Is there a difference with the voltage here? Many years ago, I was in my father's pool when the pump went off. I opened the box to switch it back on and accidentally hit a live wire as it was late at night. The current grabbed me, but luckily when I fell back, it let me go. Would a GFCI have helped with that??? Or is 120V less "dangerous". Just curious....

Again, RIP to this man and my heart goes out to his wife. How horrible.
