It's not perfect, but trip advisor is ok for getting some info. Worth spending a few minutes researching there. If you do go, let us know how it went!

Can't help with hotel recommendations, but a musician friend of mine just sent a farewell message saying the season is over in Khao Yai. He spends about 6 months a year there. Just left this week. Maybe too much rain?

I was on a flight a few years ago, landing into Amsterdam. A guy was super drunk and rowdy. Crew tried to get him to calm down. No luck. Captain came out and had him restrained with zip ties. The captain was pissed! On arrival, we were told to stay in our seats. 4 huge cops came on board and escorted him off. We all clapped.

Now that I come to think of it, that place I stayed on the beach had a huge pack of dogs. Never really bothered us, but it was a bit scary.
The recommendation for the opposite coast is spot on. Miles and miles of beautiful beaches. Some very quite, others not so!

And they blame McDonalds for Thais gaining weight. Right. You're better off with a Big Mac! Even less calories.
Luckily, wifey won't even buy these. Only fresh noodles.
"You're better off with a Big Mac! Even less calories"
Mama noodles box, calories 280 (see label post 18)
Big Mac, calories 549 without Coke and Fries of course

Agreed! I don't eat Big Macs, nor Mama noodles. But the burger is very filling. I'd probably have to eat 2 cups of noodles to be full.

Bang Saphan is OK. The beach is fair, IMHO. Not much to do. Haven't stayed there in years, but did enjoy a stay many years ago in a place right on the beach. Went back 4 years ago and got eaten alive by bed bugs at one of the bigger places just south of town. Left the next day.
I do like Ban Kruit much better. Still nothing to do, but the beach is wonderful. I've had a car most of the time. Makes a huge difference as you can just pack up and head off if you want.
Same can be said for Thung Wua Laen. Depends on when you are there. Some like it, some hate it. Sand fleas can be a problem at certain times of the year.

Kopi Luwak has been quite popular for some time. The beans are not chewed, and come out whole. It was featured in the movie Bucket List.

I had elephant poop coffee a few months ago at the Grand Hyatt Erawan. It's not cheap, but the machine they use is quite interesting. Coffee was OK. Super expensive. It was my brother's treat. Yes, he makes too much money! LOL

Glue traps are available in many places. Put a piece of fish or some peanut butter in the middle. Works like a charm for me.

You might want to be a bit more specific. What is her nationality?

Salt water for sure. No smell from the cholrine........
Less smell, but you still have chlorine....we are much happier after our conversion, but still a bit of chlorine smell...

There is a hotel I stay at in Bangkok on a fairly regular basis. The pool gets very little sun. It is not covered, but always in the shade. From mid December to med February, it's too cold to even swim in. Very few guests use the pool during this time. I was there last month and it was still cool, but being hot outside, it was OK.
My pool gets sun a better part of the day. Right now, it's almost perfect. We never even used it in January. Too cold.
Your body temp is 37C. Your pool is much cooler that that and water cools a body very fast, 25 times faster than air. After an hour in a cold pool, many will be shivering.
Seems you will have good ventilation. A pool will increase the humidity level a fair amount, I would guess?
I think the recommendation for heating it would be a good thing to investigate. Very interesting design!!

I've never heard of anything like that. Kanchanaburi has some options, but I don't think within 2 hours of Chonburi. Plenty of options if you can do it in the sea....
Rivers around here are quite dirty. Not sure I'd want to risk it.

The island is not really that large. Easy to explore most of it in a day. Try a Google search. Actually, quite a bit pops up.
I've got a friend down there, let me see what he says....as you probably know, KC has a relatively strong rainy season.

Yes, Norwegian Air. Initial price was something like $280. All in is now $340. One way Stockholm to Bangkok. Not too bad!

I am flying on a LCC next month in Europe. Paying extra for seat, luggage, food, etc. But the flight is cheap! !

I'm missing 4. Hard to argue with Angkor Wat being at the top. Though I think a lot depends on what you like. It is an amazing site!! Can't wait to go back again.
I think there are a few that should be in this list. Pyramids and Petra come to mind.

Years ago I flew with some discount airline from Paris to Madrid. I'd made the booking just a few days before at our hotel and didn't print out the boarding pass. They wanted some ridiculous amount of money to print it for me. Even though it wasn't really needed. Luckily, they found a mistake and printed it there for me.
Seems airlines are doing whatever they can to make extra money now. Ah...the good ol' days of high fares and good service.

Bungee over water and he died?
I was shocked at how many videos pop up with regards to accidents. Here's one from Phuket a few years ago:
-
Yup ^^^.
And a 500 Baht RCBO would likely have saved him
Is there a difference with the voltage here? Many years ago, I was in my father's pool when the pump went off. I opened the box to switch it back on and accidentally hit a live wire as it was late at night. The current grabbed me, but luckily when I fell back, it let me go. Would a GFCI have helped with that??? Or is 120V less "dangerous". Just curious....
Again, RIP to this man and my heart goes out to his wife. How horrible.
-
RIP to this poor man. Back home, all outside plugs are GFCI protected. As are all plugs in bathrooms or near water sources.

Maybe the building of a race track in the park had something to do with this? 5555
