  1. So tour companies serving the huge Russian inbound market are supposed to do this with 10 Thai Russian speaking guide...

just wondering what the Russians need a guide for at all?

Their most frequented places consist of 7/11s (and the adjoining side walk for having a stylish dinner...) plus the doll houses in Patty plus baht buses plus the massage girls on the beach -- no guide needed for that

  2. There are helmets available that meet international safety standards but most are priced well out of the average Thai's budget

they could afford - unless there was this installment for a high-priced mobile which the son extorted from the parents or the monthlies for the new Sony sight & sound machine or for the fridge cum freezer (which nobody else has in that up-country village...) or else useless crap

  3. I Certainly hope the dodgy construction company and the RED Shirt criminals can be made accountable for these unfortunate alas additional victims.

What did the red shirts have to do with it?

Even though they burnt the place down, they can't be held responsible for shoddy construction methods.

Rather than blame red shirts, why not blame the government ? They are responsible for health and safety organisations aren't they ! Abhisit and his monkey have more blood on their hands (as well as cash)

the Red arsonists burnt down Zen / Central, repair to it as a direct response to their deeds. Reds to accept indirect responsibility for further cruel deaths.

  4. Just got off the phone with wifey. She said Phimai is way under water now. She made it through 2 days ago, but doesn't think she can go back that way. It's a real mess and seems to be changing frequently. She traveled from Pattaya to the old bus terminal outside Khorat and then to her village just south of Khon Kaen. Took her 12 hours to get there....

just came back from BKK into Phimai (no major obstacles anymore on Mitraphap): getting into Phimai, you still do need a high-heeled

pickup (preferably 4wd), the police won't let pass anything else smaller, lower-built than that. Phimai has the option of coming in through

the Chumpuang track, again, though, you will get stuck on the Phimai hill (near the Khmer hospital), can't enter the city centre. For emer-

gency: Boat and army truck services available into town.

  5. Pattaya Beach Road Subject to Prostitution Purge by Police

PATTAYA: -- Local police on Monday night moved to purge Pattaya’s notorious Beach Road area

of problematic ‘freelance’ prostitutes and lady-boys, according to an official release.

Now, I don't have to understand the authorities, do I?

    a) In Thailand, there is no prostitution because it is against the law.

    B) Any official organ citing "freelance" prostitutes automatically hints at the other quality of sex workers,

the standard, organized prostitutes...who, however, cannot exist - because that would be against the law.

but I should not be too harsh with the authorities - what they apparently want to do is to control the freelancers

better and get them under the snug and cozy police cover at all times - these efforts shall surely pay off...

  6. i paid about 3000 - include modem , sim , and- ? one month or what? cant uderstand

yes, it always pays to know what one pays for!

I assume (do not take me for granted !!!): Your initial payment was for the modem only (normally, the C.A.T. system does not require a sim card) with maybe

one or two months' usage free of charge. Thereafter, you will get monthly invoices (which you preferably should pay, else you be writing here again "modem does not work anymore")

  7. I also run Win7 on a note book, provider CAT CDMA with a modem I bought from them (how about yours?);never had any problem

this CAT modem has all necessary software on board its own memory, so really nothing do for you but switch on and connect. If it really still does not work: Take note book and modem, put it on the table of the CAT shop, they should fix it for you

  8. TAXI

FLIGHT LANDS AT 7-10, HAVE TO CATCH TRAIN AT 9-20 FROM HUA LAMPHONG STATION TO HUA HIN, WILL I MAKE IT?

no sweat - if you really won't make it: Re-direct the taxi straight to HuaHin, a bit more costly (approx. thb 2000) but no toil & trouble - this would have been my recommendation anyway would you have asked how to get to HH without major stress
