  1. Yeah, like the one the Landmark Hotel in Bangkok had(has?) to keep customers outside cool in the heat. Water is cheap surely? What would it cost to look and feel cool in the hood?
  2. Agreed about the cheese. Though it wasn't by the slice, the last really good pizza I had was years ago in Vientienne. The owner said they used quality cheese like the French did.
  3. Then there is a great business opportunity for someone who want to open a later operating venue in Nana or Soi Cowboy.
  4. Thanks, is it any good? Not that you care too much if you have the munchies at 2am.
  5. Not really, but in terms of fair summary of information it is way more balanced than the skewed reactionary SEO answers stock google spits out.
  6. On behalf of all late night drinkers who require a slice of Pizza in Nana or other areas after a goof night of imbibing, I would like to know where, where, O where did the slice of Pizza venders go? I remember there was a good in Nana but it seems to have long gone. Inquiring drinkers want to know! I want to know!
  7. Thanks I think the balance seems to be for the Everest so I will look for a cheap one and ask the in-law who knows cars to evaluate it before buying. Just as long as it comes in either red(wife's choice) or bronze(my choice). it should be fine.
  8. Thanks for all the replies. I have some homework to do. As long as I can get a car/SUV second hand in the 7000 dollar range(I am told that is the minimum u should consider for safety) I'll be happy.
  9. Totally self driving AI assisted vehicles will bring safety in about 30 years time.
  10. Hey, looking for a safe SUV easily affordable and available here. Fortuner would be my first choice but ideally I'd like something accessible to shorter people as well(my wife). Not sure if any SUVs would fit that but some cars like the Nissan Kick(first google result) would. What do you think?
  11. Title says it all. Before Covid there were some cool ones with no time wasting speaking in English. It seems easy to find channels for other languages with conversation just in the target language but quite difficult in Thai where many students I suspect are not serious and just want to l ogle the pretty teacher There are some good ones like Thai with Mod of course, but they seem aimed at beginners. What's new and good?
  12. Would you take your wife and young son to a gogo bar? Saw it once!
  13. So this is about high quality cheesecake beyond the fluff you get in a bakery or Starbucks. Last month, I really enjoyed the cheesecake in The Wine Connection in Puckett Old Town - as well as a pretty decent glass of wine! However, I have very limited knowledge of the fine dining scene in Phukett, so any other recommendations welcome.
  14. I have heard(maybe here?) that for some reason fast food restaurants suffer from the "curse of Jomtien" and just don't succeed. It is said that even KFC, arguably the most successful fast food chain in the world, tried it's hand in Jomtien many many years ago and flopped.
  15. t;s true enough of Asian fast food in general but there are plenty of healthy Thai options that are not fried. Boiled soups, fermented meats... As a paleo-diet/ketogenic follower I try to eat as little of ANY fried food as possible but if I fry eggs at home I will fry in butter. Keto friendly restaurants iin the West will do this but I am not aware of any that do it here. I recall a Thai restaurant trying to go green in this way in Nonthanburi but it is the lone voice in the wilderness.
  16. "Well, Mr. Igor?" "I simply meant Mr. President, that like a low life......."
  17. Goat milk is far easier on the digestion for many people and no shortage yet.
  18. NaJomtien is a little ambiguous isn't it? It can mean the area between Jomtien and Bang Saray or it can mean the area north of the Police box in the center of Jomtien beach. I only know about the later, a quiet place full of seafood restaurants .
  19. And of course this is the dawning of the age of Aquarius Yeah, right. In the meantime, English is what young people(with few exceptions) want to learn - not Chinese or Hindi . And the movies they want to see are English and culture they want to learn, for better or worse, is Western. As Ramstein sang , "We're all living in America".
  20. I discovered Vikings and The last Kingdom History made interesting - yes I know there was some liberty taken.
  21. Outrageous, I never like their bread anyways. Good roast beef sandwich in Pattay at about 90Baht in a supermarket.
