  1. Is it following Immigration laws legal to do a 90 day report in another province other than where the alien is registered as living? I ask due to the upcoming New year holiday and personally a extended holiday and I would if possible prefer to not rush back in the annual traffic chaos just after New Year.

    Thanks

I have lived in CM 14 years. This year the burning here has started early and seems more than usual. I travel around the province often and this is the first time I have seen virtually every single rice field burnt or burning already. Soon it will be the mountains and forests.

Every year those in power say they are 'cracking down' on the burning, but the last few years an outsider would be mistaken to believe they were actively encouraging it!

It's not hard to simply get some police to drive around and fine each landowner that has had fires on their land. They would soon stop doing it. It's not like they have to worry about votes and being popular now.

They would make a fortune from the fines. Seems like something bigger has more power and money involved to persuade the authorities to turn a blind eye.

People are so scared of covid virus and taking all these precautions over it...but the general population seems not to see the pollution from the burning likely is far more dangerous to their health.

The “silent killer”, smog kills 50,000 people in Thailand every year.

This below is from the original article. Great idea. I think an unforgettable experience to enjoy the beauty of the old buildings at nighttime in whatever dress.

We will start the new year with ‘The 7th Phuket Night Run’ on Jan 9. Runners can wear anything as fancy as they want,” he added, noting the event’s appeal to people just joining for fun.

“The route will pass through the Phuket Old Town area, where runners can enjoy the beauty of old buildings during the nighttime,” Mr Montri said.

Its should say "wear anything as long as it is see through" and it will be more people participate and onlookers will line the route from start to finish????

There were huge issues in Bangkok - the bike lanes were a great idea, then Thai-ness slipped into the fray.

Vendors placed their food carts in the bike lanes, cars parked in them. Due to a lack of enforcement before long the sense of entitlement slipped in that the bike lanes could be used for almost anything else except cycling !!!!

A great initiative poorly executed and poorly policed - they are all but non existent now.

(This was in Bangkok, I’m not aware of any Bike Lanes in Phuket)

No money to make on cyclist, cars motorbikes on the other hand sell well and the drivers/passengers tops it up with filling up hotels, shopping centers/ and not to forget hospitals. Great when have shares both in the service industry, car manufactures and hospitals.????

Overall, year on year from January through August:

Personal Income tax receipts fell by -40.83% (from B1,928bn to B1.369bn),

Corporate income tax fell -68.94% (from B2.862bn to B1.694bn), and

VAT receipts fell -32.46% (from B3.964bn to B2.993bn).

Ponder the implications behind those numbers for a minute.

I prefer to to ponder about the numbers and registered tax payers....

    You've got to be kidding.

The Winter War[F 7] was a war between the Soviet Union (USSR) and Finland. It began with a Soviet invasion of Finland on 30 November 1939, three months after the outbreak of World War II, and ended three and a half months later with the Moscow Peace Treaty on 13 March 1940. Despite superior military strength, especially in tanks and aircraft, the Soviet Union suffered severe losses and initially made little headway.

Finland ended up having to cede 11% of its territory and 30% of its economy to the Soviet Union.

Kidding ???? that's what the history rewriters doing.

Or...history want to be forgotten of political reason from they behind todays steering helm. Russia is dangerous, we constantly hear in the news. Definitely not without reason. Nevertheless, there seems to be a widespread attitude in northern Norway, Finnmark, especially in the east, that the Russians are nothing to be afraid of. If so, why is it so?

Finnmark, autumn 1944. The Germans are chased out, but it costs. Along the way, they destroy as much infrastructure as possible. Finnmark is burning. The population is forcibly evacuated, but many oppose the German order and hide in primitive old mining corridors. On the heels of the Germans come the liberators. It's not the United States. Army, Royal Air Force or Foreign Legion.

Nor is it the Norwegian army, the small one that exists of it, that are training far outside the war zone.

The heroes are not named Sam and Jack. Their names are Vladimir and Piotr. It is the Soviet Red Army that, with the justice of the liberators, rolls across the Norwegian border. For years, they have fought against the Germans just a few solid stone's throw from Kirkenes. The Litzsa front was for a long time the worst front part to be on. Here they fought. Nazis against communists. Until the Russians finally came on the offensive, the front of the Litzsa River was the highest number of losses.

There are still fallen soldiers in this area. The Litza monument is located here. By the road between Storskog and Murmansk. Rarely do you come here without fresh flowers at the mighty monument. This means something. A lot for Russians, and for Norwegian Finnmarkers. How often have you heard of this  I do not think the Litza front was mentioned in one word throughout history. The Finnmarkers know this. They have felt the neglect of their own, both on body and soul.

  8. When we married nearly 20 years ago it was law in Thailand (or at least we was told so) that my wife took my last name. Now when we get older and she most likely ending up sitting in Thailand alone when I pass away we have thought it maybe could be better if she have here Thai last name only or at least as a middle name. Is that possible, where is it done (office) and what kind of paperwork need to be prepared?

    Thanks

Why not publish their names, jobs, etc.. how many weeks (days) HOLIDAY do Chinese get annually???

I wonder if their trip expenses are paid by the Chinese Gov  in a pre arranged joint PR stunt with the Thais?

Its nothing else than a set up to convince the down to earth local Thais and laborers that its now safe to let in tourists.

If after seven more days the tourists are still Covid-19 negative they will be allowed to travel widely in Thailand.

What happened to the full 15 days?

If negative, reduced to 7 days.

Again, We have to take care of the Chinese.
