I didn't realize how seriously you take your facetiousness

Seriously, how is this not worth 100 baht an hour?

You are a former champion table tennis player, you are in Pattaya for the usual reasons, but maybe one afternoon you might just like to play some ping pong, just for the exercise.

Problem is, you don't have a partner.

    So where do you go?

Well, Queen Pattaya hotel on Klang near Second has a table in the lobby, and the manager is willing to let outsiders play for just the cost of a drink.  I have played there many times.  It's about as good as it gets in Pattaya, but no ping pong partners there, sadly.

Instead, how about an aircon venue with female attendants who gather up the balls, while the players keep on playing.  Good tables and nets, plenty of space, high enough ceiling, good lighting, partners available.

To me, a major problem with playing table tennis is always having to pick up the ball after points, even losing some at the Queen.

Sure wastes a lot of time and effort.

On recent sojourns back in the States, I was impressed by table tennis venues in New York City and Toronto.  Baskets of balls by the table, conveniently refilled during play.  Expensive though....

Yes I am a former champion.

re. the word "facetious", I will stick with the standard definitions which a quick google search shows as,

    fa·ce·tious
    fəˈsēSHəs/
    adjective
    adjective: facetious
    1. treating serious issues with deliberately inappropriate humor; flippant.
      synonyms: flippant, flip, glib, frivolous, tongue-in-cheek, ironic, sardonic, joking, jokey, jocular, playful, sportive, teasing, mischievous;

In a court of law or public opinion, there is little doubt that your attempt to introduce some "non-sports" related aspects to the game constitutes a clear attempt at facetiousness.  Look at the words above if in doubt.  You may just not realize how funny you are!

I didn't realize what a serious issue table tennis is for you.

For me it's a lot of fun.

As you are a former champion, the club could use a teaching pro.

That's hilarious.....there you facetiously go again!

norrska, please stop.  You are wrong, or you don't understand the main meaning of "facetious".

Could you answer my OQ (original question) about wanting to play some ping pong in good conditions, maybe with a girl you want to impress...?

    Can you play the game?

Obviously the OP was being facetious and it went way over your head......whoooooooooooooooooooooooosh!

I wasn't being facetious at all, just throwing in a little sexual innuendo to spice it up a bit.

Pool/snooker venues charge 120-240/hour, and all the pool girls do is rack the balls.  How is 100/hour excessive?

  5. Is anyone interested (?) in playing table tennis/ping pong in a new venue in Pattaya, with quality tables, paddles/bats available, lots of balls so you never need to go chasing after them.  That is the job of the ball girls, who run around picking up the customers' balls and putting them back in the tableside basket.  Good lighting, aircon, location.  100 baht/hour.

The girls can all play, and are available to hit with customers who come alone.  Tips appreciated.

  6. Like to recommend a 3 pm. 50 % discount at East Coast Kitchen, thanks to excellent eatigo, on sixth floor of Holiday Inn's new backyard building.  Restaurant is next to the pool, so after eating (the biggest piece of tender grilled salmon ever), I brought my Wifi out to sit by the pool and digest.  Then I enjoyed a swim.  This pool gets sunshine, so it is warmer than some.

I will be doing this again.

  7. Sorry to <deleted> this Coke addicts thread, but...

Coca Cola is a sorry addictive crap that used to have cocaine in it.

Nowadays it is just sugar water that makes you fat and wrecks your health, as you addicts drink it instead of the water that your body needs.  Coke is nasty shttt, kinda like cigarettes.

Overpriced salad that we can get anywhere for cheaper.

This place will of course close and deserve it.

bleble, aren't you the happy prophet of doom for all that is good?

If you cannot contribute something positive, why must you make such a negative, useless comment?  Why not join eatigo, get the discount, and get healthy at this lovely restaurant?  Your comment is false.

Just tried that “Easy Health” on 3rd road opposite Soi Lengkee. Nice healthy menu options and smoothies etc.

    https://www.facebook.com/easyhealththailand/

Just discovered Easy Health, this new (open seven months) restaurant, thanks to eatigo.  Discount is 50% at 1500 which is when I like to have my one meal of the day, trying to lose weight.

Enjoyed my second meal today and will be back for more definitely.  Wonderful food and not "boring" at all.  Have tried their tuna salad (220) from the six-item salad menu;  salmon with maple leaf syrup sauce and mashed broccoli (250) from the nine-item Continental meals menu;  baked eggs with spinach and salmon (160) from the nine-item breakfast menu;  and hot and sour chicken soup aka Tom Yum gai (120) from the twenty-four item Thai meals menu.  Prices are before eatigo discount.   Other menu sections are Wraps, Bowls, Burritos, Soups, Fitness Meal, Frozen Yogurts, Smoothies and Desserts.

Atmosphere is quiet, clean, air-conditioned.  No annoying music or tv.

Wifi works well.  All is good here IMHO.  Location on the wrong (east) side of Third Road is a problem.  It is between Boxing Roo bar and Buffalo bar.  Sure hope it survives and prospers!

    Hey folks.

What's up with the cross town service on North Pattaya road?!?

It used to be there was often a bus waiting in front of Best Supermarket on North Pattaya road near the Dolphin Circle heading towards Sukhumwit.

I haven't seen that bus waiting in a very long time.

So I end up basically WALKING to where I'm going on North, which is usually to 3rd road.

    What a drag.

I believe the baht bus waiting place was moved a short way east, up North road from the Best market.  Last time I took it was June this year.

  11.  When I was a boy, 60 years ago, in New Jersey, one of my best memories is of playing croquet on our front lawn.

Neighborhood kids came over and played with my parents and me on summer evenings, as fireflies floated about.

It was a lot of fun.

I tried putting up a croquet set in California parks in the 80s, but no one seemed interested.  My girlfriend and I played alone.

Is croquet completely dead nowadays?     Is any equipment available?  Anyone for a game?

  12. Haven't seen mentioned on this thread the main problem with this crackdown IMO:

The baht buses are not allowed to run on soi Buakhao, as there are no official bus stops there.  This is a major Inconvenience for many, since the only way south would then be via Beach road.  Luckily the Buakhao ban only seemed enforced for one day, 1 Feb, tho not as many are now daring to pick up the many passengers on this convenient, tho non-official, route.

  13. Have you ever been tripped up by the poor state of the pavement where pedestrians are supposed to try and walk in Thailand?

There are so many hazards, one has to watch where the footsteps are landing.

I may have inadvertently saved a guy from injury this evening, as we were walking the gauntlet connecting Pattaya's Beach Promenade with Walking Street.  We were walking south, to Walking Street.  We had survived the rickety boardwalk next to the Marine Department, crossed the open area, and even made it past the moto taxis that force pedestrians to walk in the street with the tour buses.

The next hazard got him.  At the entrance to Pattaya Beer Garden is a double slope in the walkway;  a covered drain tilts one way, and the adjacent pavement tilts toward it.  This hazard would not be so bad, except that it lurks right at the start of the action.  Suddenly the innocent pedestrian is confronted with a bunch of beer bar girls.  They can be a distraction from watching where your feet are landing, as the farang walking behind me discovered.

As as he fell, he was fortunate to fall into me from behind.  As he hit my back, I effectively broke his fall, so he only knocked over three bar stools at Tukta (Doll) beer bar.  He was not hurt, only embarrassed.  It could have been worse.
