  1. Bitcoin through the roof! The above is a YT short, reiterating British HODL's perspective and his three rules of Bitcoin.
  2. I've spent some time looking into this, because it sounds scary, but I conclude in effect it is going to be a nothing burger. It already is a nothing burger. There are some real threats, but they are contingent on some real advances in the QC space that are some years away, as well as not taking a couple of precautions plus a couple of updates to the Bitcoin software to change the encryption algos and probably a few other things. I mean, Tutanota already use quantum-resistant encryption.
  3. (I think) I found out about Bitcoin from watching The Keiser Report on RT. I managed to find a CEX and opened an account. As I was paid in CHF there was no real CHF -> BTC direct route and even if I did CHF -> USD, the cheaper currency converters wouldn't allow transfers to crypto exchanges "because unregulated". I managed to find a web site based in Belgium that let me send CHF in and BTC out and that is how I initially funded my first CEX account. Later, I remember one morning at about 02:00, I did a google search on my mobile phone for low cost CHF -> crypto routes. In those days, Google allowed you to use search operators (these days they just ignore them). Despite that it was on page 15 or so of the search results that I found Lykke, who did not charge any commission on currency conversions and their bank account was in Lichtenstein. I used Lykke mainly for cheap conversions and transfers, but along the way I bought some of their utility token and on a coffee break a colleague pointed out the token had gone up 14x. So I sold 2/3 of it and put 50% of that into a mining pool and got nearly wiped out, LOL. 8K in, 2K out or something like that. At one point I entertained the idea of buying CHF 50 per month of BTC, and I think I decided against it because at the time there was only Bitcoin Suisse, who, typically for a Swiss outfit, wanted an unearned 3% slice for converting my fiat into digital gold. I think "Penny wise, pound foolish" is the story of my financial life.
  4. I know this. It's not the same as saying "we admit to committing war crimes".
  5. That's the kind of criminals density I'd expect at a Hotel hosting a joint Tory and Reform Party conference.
  6. Here's an example of prejudice, but kind of a mirror image to what you mentioned. In the sleepy Swiss village I stayed in when COVID-19 kicked off, my not-eve-teen-at-the-time, half-Thai progeny was name-called by other children and blamed for COVID-19 and lockdowns because "you are Chinese". It's sad that not everyone grows out of such ignorance by the time they are old enough to vote.
  7. It's how big it is, but what you do with it.
  8. What was the war crime they admitted to? As a non-signatory to the UN CCM, use of cluster munitions per se is not illegal. I think they have insisted these munitions have only been used against military targets. Which does not make it an admission of committing war crimes.
  9. I hear the 18:00 rendition in Tha Rae (near Sakon Nakhon city). As for morning, not in my village and I am never in Tha Rae in the morning.
  10. Is that it? It hardly sounds unhinged to me. Clearly The Daily Express expects its readers to be told what to think on the basis of the headline, rather than any arguments set forth in the article. Perhaps they suspect most of their readers only read the headline? Colour me surprised.
  11. Also they are only taxed on the portion that falls in the taxable range.
  12. She sounds like a Fine Girl https://genius.com/Frank-zappa-fine-girl-lyrics
  13. I just completed this quiz. My Score 20/100 My Time 109 seconds
  14. I just completed this quiz. My Score 33/100 My Time 68 seconds
  15. Our "reliable media outlet" wrote: I bit of digging turned up SEC public hearing on a digital asset regulatory sandbox to promote tourism industry (my emphasis): Thus, no sandbox is to be introduced. The SEC seeks public comments for such. No mention of specific "digital tokens" in the post above. The links at the bottom of the article don't work properly with my browser.
  16. Exactly what I was thinking. The article is short on details.
  17. That was my first thought. then I realised with "Delayed End" you don't have to know anything about cycle length. It saves you having to do one mathematical operation and having to know the intimate details of your appliance's wash cycles.
  18. Ditto. Round the opposite side of the lake from Sakon Nakhon. I don't like Thai cities much. OK to visit for a few hours. Having said that, we were in Ubon Ratchathani last week. Buddha event with wax candles and visiting my wife's cousin. Compared to SK it seemed big (maybe wealthy) enough to have a greater variety of stuff than S-K and was nowhere near as ugly and built-up as Krung Thep. I wouldn't want to live in the city but the suburbs are more accessible since there isn't a bloody big lake in the way. Maybe get the Chinese to build a fly-over? 😉
  19. Is Garden Cliff on or near the edge of a cliff? That might be a different kind of crashing down, if you acquire my drift. Anyway, the cure for high prices is (eventually) high prices: https://search.brave.com/search?q=bitcoin+will+suck+value+from+real+estate+in+thailand&source=web&summary=1&conversation=f7e7c8988751424fd7d8fc Food for thought.
  20. It's always wise to be skeptical about what you read/ view/ hear in the MSM. Their political masters and advertisers largely decide what is news and how to spin the message. Serious question: Are journalists in Thailand allowed by law to report anything no matter how true it is, if you see what I mean?
