  1. Well I have been checking out Hospitals for a major Op and whilst Bumrungrad is at least 5 STAR, (Somebody pays for all the marble etc) I can tell you the Doctors are no more qualified than most other top Hospitals, however there prices are horrific!! At leat 50% more than Bangkok Hospital and any extra nights etc are at a very high cost...There are several other high standard hospitals available such as Yanhee etc, do some homework I suggest like some others are suggesting.

    Good luck :o

Bumrungrad is ok and good quality IMO but their pricing policy is bit weird nowdays. Almost impossible to get any committment on anything, even to get simple estimate is difficult. I do understand that the costs can not be always fixed beforehand but still they should be able to give somekind of estimate and commit themselfs on certain unit prices.

I've been told the reason for this is that as they mainly treat middle eastern nationals nowdays that just forward the bills to their government for payment they tend to apply same mai ben rai attitude to others who pay themselfs.

I'm very tempted to try Samtijev next as i hear good references all the time. Same or bit more expensive but they supposed to be what Bumrungrad was few years back.

  2. I can arrange day fishing trips around Koh Lan Island area. (usually Fridays)

Boat with Thai Skipper, boat big enough for say 6-8 persons fishing. (with toliet)

Lunch of Fried Rice, Omeltte and fish.

Cold drinkintg water supplied, anything else you bring yourself.

Cost 4200 Baht, leaving at 8.30am return by 5pm

HOWEVER....you bring your own kit, ie rod reel etc (or use hand lines supplied)

I should point out that you will catch many fish....BUT not very big.

Message me if interested...(I don't do this as a biusiness, merely introduce you to the boat, hence why low price)

The Dive centre come fishing tackle shop near Bali Hai pier does day trips , Check there website for info pattayafishing.com

Thanks partyguy, I checked the website but it seems they only want a full charter (at 18,000 baht). I will go and speak to them and see what they can do.

  3. Yes, you are all mostly correct, however buying your own modem means:

    1. You are not committed to a contract term with TOT

    2. You can purchase a wireless modem at around 1000 baht and then "share" your connection costs etc.

    3. You can purchase a more powerful modem (speed) with better technology

D-link have an office on 3rd floor of dot.com and there are many suppliers there.

    :o

  4. Well have you been fishing here before?? We fish around Koh Lan area and you will not catch huge fish. But we do catch quite a lot on a good day. No, we do not supply kit, we buy our own.

The boat has a basic european toilet

Friend rice, omelette and fish for lunch, plus bottles of water.

    Anything else bring yourself.

    Cost depending on persons 600-1000

A great day out, please contact me asap by message

    Paul :o

  5. We go sea fishing from Bali Hi Pier every Friday, maximum 7 persons.

We leave at 8.30am returning about 5pm and we are looking for 2 reliable persons to make up places.

A great day out, please contact me asap

    Paul :o

  6. Bali is predominantly MUSLIM... meaning not many local girls available.. but to be fair the night life is not bad in Kuta, plenty to drink, food not bad, but all in all, not really worth it unless you are taking a girl friend with you.

  7. I believe that overall the FTPA do a good job, however they are mis-managed and are effecting work that should not be in there job description.

They should not be congregating in large numbers at the end of walking street, there is no need for this and the uniforms are "over the top"...If they are there to assist the public, then a simple black trousers, white shirt is enough, in particular they should not be wearing police type belts with add on such as handcuffs.

Unfortunately because of the image thay currently project they are dis-liked and looked down upon, which is a dissapointment for them and the public at large.

I wish them luck, they need it.

  8. To: Noo1

So basically you both lied when you were asked if you have property to split....so now you have to sort this out...you will be lucky to get 50% seeing as you contributed little to the purchase before divorce...but this is Thailand and 50% looks pretty fair in an out of court agreement without lengthy expensive legal costs in any country.

The interesting question is why did you both not tell the truth??? :o

  9. "I only require 2 things.... a bike lane and 1 meter of sidewalk."

And you really think you will get this??? Dont be silly, if after all the beach walk changes in the past did not get you the above, then you have no chance!! :o

  10. I quite agree, Songkran for one day can be enjoyable in any town except pattaya.

Foreigners are encouraged to join in, but foremost it is meant to be a celebration of Thai religion, not to injure anyone.

    Good luck!! :o

  11. On Monday afternoon 3rd March at Pattaya City Hall, Khun Itipon, the Mayor of Pattaya chaired a meeting which discussed proposals to extend the width of Pattaya Beach Road. An 18 mtr (54ft) extension to the width of the road has been proposed which will allow for up to two more lanes of traffic and may allow the road to become a two way four lane road in the future. "

    THE END OF PATTAYA BEACH!!!

  12. Yes Pattaya Memorial is reasonably good in my opinion? I say "reasonably" as they dont appear to always have the latest equipment, sorry to say though that since they lost the Government Health Contract to treat Thais last year, that there prices are nearly as bad as Pattaya International and the famous (for ridiculous prices) Bangkok Pattaya Hospital.

Dont get sick!!! : (They take you there when you have an accident as they have an agreement with Baht Buses etc!!)

  13. You clearly don't understand your wife and why she married you??? It was so she could watch TV and spend your money. If you set up such a venture, then she would either:

    1. Employ someone to run the cart bought by you and send the profits (if any and not eaten) to the village.

    or

    2. Sell the cart and send the money to the village.

    or

    3. Leave the cart outside your home and suggest you walk the streets!

  14. Songkran in Pattaya IS RUBBISH!!! Its an excuse for foreigners to act like stupid idiots! This is nothing to do with Thai celebrations and if as you say you have actually ever ventured outside of Pattaya, you would understand why I say this!!

The spraying of water anywhere in Thailand normally lasts a few hours, not a week, and the water throwing is done with fun in mind.

Unique holiday you say?? Don't talk such utter rubbish!

  15. Well my friends....I live at Somboon Sook (behind Carrefours) in a 2 bedroom town house..I have lived here 2 years and last week was the 2nd break in, albeit this time unsuccesful.

The gate padlock was hardened steel, so they broke the weld on the clasp, the fromt door had a padlock which same again they broke the clasp, then they broke the anti theft Australian made fitted internal door lock..then they opened the door and my Yale House alarm went off and they scarpered!! The inner steel door was not broken into. (all windows have alarms and are screwed permanently shut.)

Anyhow I dont see what more I can do...I am going to get a Thai ridgeback dog, mainly as a pet, but I think they would just kill the dog!! To be honest I am thinking that maybe a Condo is my last option?

Any constructive advice would be welcome. :o
