  1. Huean Sabai at the Rimping Sansai (Michok Plaza). Excellent foot massage, relatively quiet, comfortable chairs. Upstairs has thai massage which is decent, but prefer going there for foot massage.

Massage Place by movie theater in Airport Plaza (4th floor). Nice big chairs recline all the way, they dim the light. Excellent foot massage. Never tried the Thai.

Gotta love a good thai massage, but a decent foot massage in a quiet shop is a great way to catch a few zzzs mid day.

  2. I got one at Power Buy a few months back--works well and is fairly large (about the size of a large rice cooker). Slow cooks at high and low settings. Also does various kinds of rice. They seem to have them in stock regularly.

And where might Power Buy be?

Power Buy is the top floor of Robinson at Central Airport Plaza. It's got all the electronics and home/kitchen wares.

  4. I tried Coach's for the first time a few weeks ago (twice) and I thought it was a good pie--surprised to read the negative reviews. But maybe they've worked on their menu over the last year. Also the iced tea is awesome--regular brewed tea, not the crazy sweet lipton lemon tea ubiquitous in Thailand. Haven't tried the ribs but plan on checking out some of the sandwiches next time.

  5. Any chance you could post a map of the location or link to Google maps? Curious about the specific area you mentioned. Thanks and good luck.

Cool thanks! It looks like there's a road leading up there from Saluang, is it relatively easy to navigate in a truck? (2WD). Do you go by mountain bike? How hard is that ride? Appreciate the details.

  6. This is the place up on the 4th floor. Tried the foot massage and it was good. Comfortable chairs recline all the way. Lights are dimmed and it's quiet. Anyone tried the thai massage? Oil massage?

  7. Went there on Tuesday and it has potential but needs work.

Pros: Location is nice and they did a great job with the construction. Great river view, beautiful building, high ceilings, open floor plan.

Cons: Menu is confusing and lacks focus. Some of the items were served nothing like their menu description (i.e. chicken lettuce cups on menu: water chestnuts and xo sauce; served: larb style). Overall quality control is hit or miss. Normally I wouldn't be so critical but it's a pricey menu so the expectation is higher.

Hope they work out the kinks because it would be great to have a new option in the mix.

  8. I've swam in the moat too, years ago, no problem. I don't think it's ever super clean but more concerned about sewage routing in the area. But I've been told it's been cleaned out a few times recently and chlorine added so suspect it's as usual. Might have to check out the Gorge, thanks for the input.

  9. Wondering how early you need to go to get some real estate, and how packed it gets. Trying to avoid the moat this year as I've heard some rumors about unusually dirty moat water. Any info on Mae Ngat would be appreciated too. Happy New Year!

  10. Try the big restaurant next door to the Centre Point Condo. If you're coming from town heading towards Mae Jo, turn left at the Ruam Choke/Rimping intersection. Centre Point is on the right about 100m before you get to the bridge. You'll need to do a uturn, and the restaurant is before the condo, right next door to it. They had signs rating it as top 10 from some tv channel. It's really good, more of a dense coconut cream than the standard soupy version. Worth the trip.

  11. I think Golden Triangle MMA has a boxing trainer. Also Lanna Muay Thai has a trainer that was a pro boxer in Bangkok. You could train boxing only there if you like. Don't know of any boxing-only gyms in CM. Good luck.

  12. The 4 seasons brunch is set up differently--you order the main courses off the menu and they're made to order. But it's still all you can eat... meaning you can order more than one entree. Went recently and the food was excellent. Ditto on the grounds. Recommended.
