Absolutely right!!!!
After your last message on this subject, I visited the shop and the massage was brilliant and relaxing in nice clean rooms with AC. Highly recommended....I am not involved in the business of this establishment.....purely a satisfied customer.
As I wrote before on forum I think best massage, either oil massage or Thai massage, is at Maripaun Salon and Thai Traditional Massage on Maejo Road. They have showers, air-con and 3 excellent masseuses. Price for oil massage is 250 baht per hour. It is on left side Maejo road heading from CM to Maejo. 6.5 km from Rimping market at meechok Plaza. Just go to second traffic light, make u-turn and come back towards Chiang Mai. Shop is betweenr Wawee Cofee and Wang Buathong muban. There are signs out front. It is best to make appointment. Phone number is 0852849118.
Is this a strictly therapeutic oil massage? It's hard to tell sometimes.

Looking to spend one night in a tent/sleeping bag. Any advice regarding the campsite, hikes in the area, etc? Not sure if the campground might fill up and if so how to time the arrival. Also, is most of the park accessible w/a standard automatic 2WD car? Is there parking next to the campsite? (this is how the generic campsites were back in the U.S.--meaning you park at the spot where you throw your tent. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

it could be meltique beef, artificially marbled aussie beef.
Have you tried meltique? I just googled it and it looks interesting but I'm skeptical. Would appreciate any firsthand accounts.

If you don't have problems in Chiang Mai, then you most certainly will not in KL.
Meaning in general the speeds/connections in KL are superior to CM?
-
Headed to KL for a few days and hoping I'll have access to decent internet speeds... but never been there. Anyone have any experience with the hotel connections there? Any advice on hotels/places to check out in town? Thanks.
-
Where is the venue located? And can you confirm the times? i.e. AM vs. PM. Thanks.

imho CAT has the best connection in the Mae Rim re: speed and reliability--there is a tower at the intersection of the Mae Rim/Mae Jo road, so the signal doesn't have far to go. I never had luck with TripleT. CAT has a 2/2 package, which includes international bandwidth.

Ajarn Malee is highly recommended. Tough on the details but a very nice person.

Does anyone know if the new Platinum is open and what it's called now? It looked like there was a re-opening about 3 months ago...

I'd like to hear from families that are planning on switching to a different international school in CM, or have in the past, and what their motivation is/was. Also if you've switched in the past, how did it work out? Thanks for the info.

Is the OP is writing in Tinglish? or is that my imagination? Give the man a preposition.

A new salt water pool opened up in Palm Spa Village, with a club house and restaurant attached. The pool looks out to a big rice field. Restaurant has a small but tasty menu of Thai and western food, all locally sourced organic ingredients. They have a small vegetable garden on site so a lot of their greens and herbs come straight out of the ground. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area or looking for a place for the kids. I've eaten there a few times, both Thai and western food and it's all good. No connection with the management, just a happy customer.

I've used them a bunch of times for Italian, Sushi, Miguels. They take your order in English, if the phone is busy the call back comes quickly. Food arrives when they say it will. I'm about 30 minutes out of town but my burger from Miguels is still reasonably warm, and served the way it is in the restaurant. Recommended.

Has anyone tried the fitness equipment at either the Imperial or the new Platinum Fitness? What are they calling the new Platinum anyway? Be interested in hearing about any other options in the Mae Rim / Ruam Chok / City Hall area. Thanks.

I was told by a Thai friend that the internet was going to be shut off, presumably nationwide, starting at 11am today. Apparently there was an announcement on TV. Has anyone heard about this?

One of the nurseries in Mae Jo has small habanero plants pretty regularly. Most of them are bearing fruit already. I'm not sure what the name of the place is, but if you're driving from Rimping out to Mae Jo, there are about 3 nurseries in a row, on the left side of the road, just before you hit the Mae Rim/Mae Jo road.

Andy at Lanna Boxing has a good selection of higher quality leather gear: Twins, Thaismai, etc. Check out their website and send him an email, I don't know it offhand. Bangkok has a bunch of stores that carry Muay Thai gear exclusively--Chiang Mai doesn't have anything similar from what I know.

I've read that having a light colored roof can reduce the heat from direct sunlight substantially, does any one have any experience with light or white colored roof tiles... or painting existing ones? Also what about the wooden slats that seem to enclose many of the more modern buildings and houses--it looks like it would help by giving some shade to the sides of the house, but would like to hear from anyone who's tried it?

I was up to G and M German sausage this weekend and the you get all at Gunter place.
Still one from the old school and I tell his Frankfurters are super .
But as always the goodies are a bit out of the City.
Here is a link to a German Webb page there you can find a god map to get there

Every Sunday he has a Buffet and you can Eat all you can for 200 baht per person and Children free.
And the place was packed this last Sunday so be there Early starts at 11 am.
The best I've had here in town are at Duke's, they're on the kids menu. I think they're from a local German supplier but anyone know for sure?

It trained at this school a few years ago before I had two kids to look after.
I am still friends with Pedro Villalobos who runs this Muay Thai camp and I have the highest regard for both him and his school.
I think there is a FAQ on the website that should answer most of the questions regarding costs etc.
The only caveat I would mention is that you are expected to train hard and regularly if you are taken on as a student.
Highly recommended and feel free to pm me if you have any futher questions
There are also many small Thai camps in and around Chiang Mai, if your friend wants to do it the traditional way. He/she should start by deciding what area they want to be in, then take it from there.

Can anyone tell me if you can go up in elevation to get away from the pollution? It seems a lot of friends have headed down South... wondering it's possible to head up north/up hill and get some cleaner air. Thanks in advance; heading outside to burn my recycling.

I use Dr. Juranee of the Empress Dental Clinic on the Hang Dong Road. I have no idea specifically about 6 year olds, but she has a very good and caring manner with patients, and is relatively young, so I think would be good with kids. She's also a good dentist in my experience.
I don't think she is on the Hang Dong Road but she is a great dentist.
There is a dental clinic at Chiang Mai Ram hospital, and the Dentist there is very kid friendly and highly recommended. I would suggest checking out any place you have in mind first, before scheduling an appointment. Some places advertise as kid friendly but it would be better for you to meet the dentist first hand to be sure. Good luck.

Go to Lanna Boxing and ask for Den. The camp gets both tourists as well as serious boxers. Den has been around for a long time and will probably be able to train you when the camp isn't too busy, i.e. mornings. He speaks English well. Google Lanna Boxing. Good luck.
