  1. When I went to Patara elephant farm a few years ago, I enjoyed riding on top of the elephant sitting as a mahout does without a platform. A bit scary and not cheap.
  2. Chiang Dao. Regarding other comments, I have a chipper shredder, make about a cubic meter of compost a month, and have prunings too large to chip (over 10cm). I value biochar for it’s soil benefits and to reduce the smoke from burning.
  3. Certified Rolfers will be in their institutes on line directory, usually with a division into countries and areas. Rare in SE Asia. Note that there is now more than one organization training people in Ida Rolf’s work.
  4. I have too much material for a small concrete pipe and a larger one would be much heavier than a metal barrel. Want to tip over the barrel to get the charcoal out, so lighter is better for me. How long does your pipe last using it that way?
  5. Anybody know where I can get a metal barrel that never contained toxic materials? I would like to use it for a burn barrel to make bio char for the garden. Also, looking for the kind of plastic buckets that construction materials often come in would like that to be food grade but not as fussy about that. Never seem to see ones for sale.
  6. Is that black humor? Never mind.
  7. Lampung has a weekend evening walking street which I enjoyed very much. It is at a historic preservation district which has places to stay.
  8. Thanks for the helpful suggestions. Maktec might be plenty good enough for me if they have similiar models.
  9. Is that the place at corner of 107 and 11?
  10. Thanks. Is that Nana Machine Parts?
  11. Thinking of buying one of Makita’s new battery operated reciprocating saws but most stores don’t have a display model. Any suggestions on a place with all their tools? Their service center? Also, anyone prefer some different comparable brand? Thanks
  12. Happy with this Thai brand bought at Mae Jo ag fair. Honda engine, biggish chisel blade.
  13. Any salt water intrusion causing wells near the ocean becoming salty? I seem to remember problems with this in Lipa Noi.
  14. Never mind. Finally got a person that picked up at the listed telephone on the app. While I didn’t show a pick up date yet she could see the info and said I could pick it up today near the airport until 3.
  15. I have been waiting for my on line application for an international vaccine travel certificate all week. Where in Chiang Mai do you pick these up? I saw this previously in this forum but can’t fine info through search. I hope to drop in on my town trip today and hopefully get it. Thanks for a clinic name, hospital, office, whatever.
  16. I would be careful to not breathe any dust from bat guano products
  17. Street Pizza on Tha Pae road. Can be hard to locate if you don’t realize that is located on the second floor of it’s building
  18. Some veggies, like lettuce can’t handle the hot season. Others struggle with the rainy season. So find out the best time to plant, as others have said.
  19. “The best policy is to ask at least three different people--not within earshot of each other, of course--and see if at least two of them agree. Unless you have some consensus, you're likely destined for the goose chase.” agree with this previous comment. Done this for many years in many countries if I don’t get two out of three, I start over.
  20. 4,000 trees? Wow! At that volume maybe you could seek out a partner with processing capability. You need market differentiation as the local market is flooded, mostly with one kind of mango.. Organic or place of origin are possible differentiation. Organic gives you a possible way to command a higher price, especially for export. Switching to organic would likely depress yields until you can revive the soil and learn what organic compatible products will help take care of your orchard. Those sprays may seem pricey but you only need a little product per tank and the commercial products keep getting more expensive. You might ask Dr. Treelove, as he took care of and/or owned a commercial organic mango grove in Thailand. Best of luck.
  21. Living in Hawaii I saw the benefits of this building design in tropics. When we designed the house (finished in 2019) we incorporated those concepts. Right now our neighbors farmland is flooding and some of our friends’ houses have water coming up alongside their houses so I am happy to have our living space raised up from ground level. The open bottom floor gets a lot of use, very practical.
