  1. Thanks for the replies. I was hesitant to get a Thai TIN so as I'm taxed at source in the UK I gave them my NI number which I read on a HRMC site is used as a TIN for the majority of UK citizens. I also mentioned I had no assets, income or business in Thailand and invited them to read the 1981 UK-Thailand Tax convention.
  2. I've received a letter from Santander Bank asking for my tax details that has me flummoxed. Question 1. Am I American. If not provide evidence. What is that all about. They know I'm British. Question 2. Individual Tax Residency. They want a TIN number. If I can't provided one they want to know why. I've no idea what a TIN number is. Has anyone else had a similar request or can shed some light on the matter. Cheers,
  3. https://www.traveloka.com/en-th/ No problem using my UK credit card.
  4. Not 100%. Mainly balance and fatigue. Initially I recovered reasonable quickly but over a period of 6-8 months I hardly had the strength to walk from the bedroom to the kitchen. Things improved when I took myself off the statins.
  5. Took me about 3 months to recover from a stroke. Beware of statins. They didn't agree with me.
  6. That is an option but not that easy within the limited time frame when family members are at work.
  7. I watch TV using OneIPTV. My subscription is up for renewal. Previously I used a debit card to pay for renewal. Now they only accept Paypal. Reluctantly I started to open a Paypal account but run into problems when they only accept applications from Thai Nationals with a Thai id card when you enter your country of residence as Thailand, If I use a UK address I run into problems with OTPs being sent to a Thai phone number. Anyone else run into this problem and how did you resolve it.
  8. I went to my local hospital for my POL. I must have looked like death warmed up because they insisted on taking my pulse just to make sure.
  9. Lucky you. My experience has been a nightmare. Account was blocked twice because they weren't happy with the photos I provided. I reckon at least 10 hours of phone calls, at my expense. Still ongoing after 4 months.
  10. I'm with Santander. They know I'm here and it doesn't seem to be a problem. However, since the New Year I've had problems providing info for their 'know your customer' team. Yesterday I was on the phone to them for 45 minutes answering their questions. I still have to provide proof of address despite previously sending my P60 with my Thai address on it. Apparently the Government has told all banks to update their customers info. Apparently Santander are the only bank doing this at the moment but all UK banks will be implementing it in the future.
  11. A friend who has been a frequent flier with SQ recently used them for a return trip to Thailand from Australia. Never again, were his words. He's taking sandwiches onboard for the return trip. Hope you have better luck.
  12. Have you read recent customer reviews for SQ? Service not a good as it once was.
  13. Recently booked direct return flights for BKK-LHR for Sept with Eva. Under 30K. Quite happy with that as I think not far off from pre-covid price?
  14. I was considering trying this. Seems to be like an Airbnb for cars. https://turo.com/
