abroad. IMO
Abroad or not.. Last time i checked you would get same treatment as locals. Meaning if you steal a truck in USA.. Excpect to get a normal penalty even you are from Mongolia.

Yes. Now and then you get island fever.. Its like you want to get out of there suddenly.. However.. The opposite is worse.. Living on the mainland.

Its not uncommon that there are car crashes on patong hill. Stolen or not should not make a difference.. The traffic chaos is created because one can never move the car before the insurance companies(or police) are finished which takes forever sometimes.

I have been having a trial retirement and one thing that made me give Jomtiem a go rather than say Patong or Phuket town was it seemed like - unless you get a car - everything you need is close by. Jomtiem isn't too busy, nice outlook to the sea, affordable condos with gym and swimming pool, excellent food, massages etc nearby - and Pattaya minutes away if you want better shopping entertainment or other stuff.
I have spent a lot of time in Phuket and the beaches are of course much better but there isn't one town or area that ticked the boxes though I may have a month or two in Phuket too - maybe Phuket town or in the west with a car - a bit later.
I prefer phuket, but i agree on what you say. Your points are very very valid!

Its a free service.. But normally they play the "you can get it now or in one week".. Free after a week or 200 baht instantly. Difficult to discuss with and they know that.. Reciept.. no.. big boss that issue reciepts is always on holiday.. Imagination is not so great i guess.

Immigration and technology omg, took them 2-3 yrs to get the 90 day report to a workable level
More on the funny side... I remember we fought with the online registration at least 15 years ago. So it took more than 2-3 years.. Its still half working.. Most of the time it works now, but not always still.

So they do provide info to the tax office?
That is a good question. I would believe from next year they would do so as the new law requires foreigners have to tax on all money brought into Thailand. Not only income and regardless of if it is from last years earnings or current year.

I had this request only once, a few years back, and when I showed it to them (I bring everything with me), they just glanced at it, then handed it back. It was just a test.
Yes.. Its probably so and i guess they sometimes ask and sometimes not.

You said: "you have to always keep a copy of potentionally a 20 year old stamp". Last time I renewed my passport I took both to Imm and all current visas/rentry permits etc were transferred into the new passport, together with a new Non-O visa as a replacement for the original one. All that was done at no charge.
Not sure where you do your immigration business but my lot do not require the original Non-O now.
I had to show a copy of it from the old passport in Phuket about a year ago. Another friend of mine had to show a digital one since he had the non im done electronically.Im sure they do it differently and if i had done it the next day maybe they would not ask.

You have a 20 year old passport??
No. Of course not.. But i have two 10 year old.And it was just a number.. I just know that people could have extended their permit to stay that long and it would be the original from embassy you would have to show every year.. However.. I also thought it was transferred to the new passport and these days its more normal that people have applied the first non immigrant visa 90 days that you need online so this makes a digital copy of that sufficient.

A friend of mine recently went to phuket immigration for 30 days extension. He was not asked about any TM30. I know that might be strange, but that is what happened. Do not know if that is for extension of stay only because you certainly need it for other things. I am aware this might not be normal. Just wondered of they changed a little.

Which immigration office?
That should not be required.
When you obtain a passport renewal the details of the non O are transferred
It is. You are correct. Still they wanted to see original in old passport last time. I had a copy of the original which was sufficient. Well. They have different requirement at different times of the day it seems.

its is best to ask builder to quote construction including eletric and water and to add labour for installing kitchen , bathrooms, tiling, flooring etc in the quote. Go out and find the materials you want yourself on sale and deliver it to him or her. That way its more transparent and you get what you want. Do not do blue piping since they never glue them together correctly. Insist on ppr piping on at least all water in under preassure. It cost a little more, but nothing almost. Ppr is melted together. Use double pane glasses at least. rule of thumb.. one million should do it without any of the things mentioned.. Only concrete, piping and eletric. Specify exactly eletric points and piping before they start and follow it everyday. Insist on 4 inch for toilets and you avoid mostly most problems. This one mill should cover a standard house of 2 beds two baths - one floor. Roughly.

The most difficult thing is when you do an extension and have had it for some years and every time they demand to see original non immigrant visa stamp. In my case its in an old passport and difficult to find. So no matter how many times you extend you have to always keep a copy of potentionally a 20 year old stamp. This should be in the computer but of course it never is.

Yes.. And if one can navigate the treaties you save money. But it has to be deducted on the country you are borned in. IF a tax treaty exists.

I guess it has to do with religion. Mostly buddhist vets will not do this.. Try to find a muslim or christian vet. Might be different.. However.. .It could be a general Thai thing. Not sure.

A mate of mine is aged in 40s. He told me an 18 year old is interested in him. In western countries I think this is not a problem. But here I wasn't sure. I told him I thought it was 20 years old.
If he got involved with this girl and it went pear shaped is he in a spot of bother? He has checked her id card. She is 100% 18 yrs old.
Not interested in moral opinions, only legal.
The legal age for consenting to sexual activities is set at 15. Legal adulthood, on the other hand, is acknowledged from the age of 20 onward. While the minimum age for marriage consent is established at 17.

I have tried twice to do 90-day reporting online. Twice I have gotten the message,
"Your application for "STAYING LONGER THAN 90 DAYS" has been rejected. Please contact the nearest Immigration Office in person immediately."
The next notification is 15h May. (I have got a stapled notice in my passport). I'm on a new non-O visa which I recently got a 1-year marriage extension on.
Can I do the 90-day report at Chaengwattana?
Just a tip.. Most of the few times it has happened to me is because my addres does not exactly match what is written in the blue book of the property i stay. Ask to see the bluebook or yellow book if you stay in. you have your own.

This is obviously aimed at the huge amount of Lazada and Shopee parcels direct from China via the delivery services, not via the post office. I guess it will be up to the delivery guy to collect the tax payment upon delivery, or else how is it supposed to work?
Like aliexpress does already. Its paid by Aliexpress.. Not the customer.. Depending on which country the destination is. The tax is calculated into the price. When you accept and have paid. Its sent to you.. Ali gets the bill.

You require 800k in Thai bank account on the day of application.
Unless the funds have been in the account for "some period of time" you would need to show funds came from abroad.
Which immigration office?
Or proof of that income from pension or similar. or a combination of these two. However.. Unless its different rules when not having Non O from abroad.

You are correct. The story is murky. If she has a ticket all the way to London that is a "through ticket" she will be in transit all the way. If she has booked the different flights separately herself she would actually need to enter India as stated. But no info on that.
