I have a letter that I copied from "the other newspaper" a few years ago that I use when teaching oral English.
In it, the author writes that he sat in the restaurant car of a train going to Chiang Mai. He was impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant and of the staff's clean clothes. He then saw a man sweeping up all the rubbish on the floor and sweeping it to the back of the car. He then open the door and swept everything out on to the tracks!!
I used to take the boats on Klong San Saeb and it wasn't unusual to see people throwing rubbish bags into the klong.
A motorcycle repair shop pouring liters of engine oil directly down the drain.
The list is endless.

The Trash pickers would come along and rifle through the stuff, and when they finished, would set fire to the stuff, causing huge plumes of Black, Toxic smoke that could be seen for KM away, and sometimes would burn for Days..
I devised my own Education for these people.
Its called a Smart Phone Camera, or my digital SLR.
Every time I saw one of these Plebs either Dumping, or about to Dump their Waste, I would pedal round to the place on my Bike and start to take Photos of them.
Most would just leg it. However some stood their ground until I started to point to the Phone and say " Tesaban , Photo, you, 2000 Baht "
They very quickly backed down, and now the dumping has all but stopped, as they know I will Photograph them, and possibly report them where they will get a 2000 Baht fine.
Sometimes it was time consuming, but the rewards were worth the effort.
The ground next to us is empty land and people just dump their rubbish there. and I used to do something similar to you, but I had a couple of episodes where the person got quite violent and threatened to destroy my phone and my health. My wife said I would end up dead if I continued.
Oh and there is a sign saying "No littering - Fine 2000 Baht".
Similarly, we live on a corner at the end of a blind road, so it i a perfect place for wait in their cars while the Japanese bosses eat at restaurants on Thong Lor. It isn't uncommon to have up to 10 cars parked around our house with their motors running for 2 -4 hours. I complain about the environment and most turn off the motors, but as soon as I leave they turn them on again.
Seriously, most Thai people just don't care.

My mistake. It was twitter.

And if this is true, then the Tourism and Sport's minister should resign immediately for such blatant lies, but of course that would never happen.

We'll be there and I'll probably be teary eyed at this angelic voice. I had the great pleasure and honour of seeing him sing outdoors in Florence and Rome some years back and they were truly magical and beautiful hours.
How did you get the tickets?
I haven't seen any form of advertising.

Looks like a KiHa 183-900 built in 1979 so only 42 years old.
They will certainly need new wheel-sets. Japan is "cape gauge" (1,067mm) whereas Thailand is true "metre gauge" (1,000mm).
My first thoughts.

I think he is right.
The very wealthy Thais rent houses foe a night or a few hours and the girls are delivered to them. That is far more discreet. We see that almost daily here,
The amount of money they earn must be tremendous as we see they come back from shopping with 4 or 5 clothes brand name shopping bags. Almost like a scene in "Pretty Woman".
One of the regular girls often arrives in her Mercedes sports car.

It has become a tradition that I serve up turkey and other good stuff for a Christmas family buffet and I always used to use uncooked butterball turkeys. Then a few years ago uncooked turkeys were banned, but one year I managed to get hold of one.
As the family insist on turkey, we tried the pre-cooked butterball turkeys a couple of times. If you follow the instructions carefully they are ok. I covered the turkey with bacon and aluminum foil for the first hour to keep the moisture in.
This year Tops had a promotion on Australian pre-cooked turkeys and we decided to give it try and ordered one.
Thai turkeys are a complete waste of money as they are nothing but skin and bones.
All in all pre-cooked turkeys can be used but they are not quite the same as uncooked.

Its been a while since We have had Turkey at Xmas, they are just too big,

with chips , in white sauce , curry, stir fry ,it never ends.

It depends on how many people you are.
We will be about 30 people for a Christmas buffet this Christmas, so I don't expect much turkey to be left over, even though there will be several other dishes to choose from.

My PayPal works still same way as from beginning , even i do not live my home country no more since 2013 my account is still alive on that address as i kept my E.U. tel. number alive ...
So not an Thai PayPal account but a E.U. one
Uhm I was contacted by my bank in Europe and told that as I no longer lived there I would have to close my account. Maybe I shouldn't have registered my Thai address with them, but then I wouldn't have received any correspondence from them.

You’re right I think. I was in a hotel in the NE a couple of nights ago having a beer at 1800. There where 3 young ladies in Pyjamas having dinner with their minder. 3 Thai guys turned up. Minder collected the cash and so to bed.
The three neighbouring houses to us are HiSo party houses.
Most evenings at about 5 pm the same girls are dropped off and they get dressed up. Around 7 pm different guys slowly start trickling in and by 9 there are just as many guys as girls. All the Mercedes, BMWs, Porches and so on line the street.

I only ask because that would be a great way to defraud the system every 60+ year old could get multiple cards for family members. She probably sweet talked them..ha ha ha
I know now how they caught me. A lamp lights up as you go through the gate and the different colours (blue, red or white) depend on what type of card you use.

Given that most people wanting to take a Christmas break will probably be making their decisions anytime soon, then delaying giving a date for entertainment venues etc to open will only make people give Thailand a miss this year and book somewhere else. There might be a few last minutes booking but they’ll be the exception.
I am sure people are planning and booking their Christmas breaks now.
How many of them would want to enjoy a Christmas lunch without a glass of wine, let alone a whole 14 days without drinks with food. Sure they can buy wine and beer and drink in the hotel room, but that's not the same as relaxing and talking in a restaurant or pub.

How did they sell two cards to your wife ?
I guess she registered for both. I didn't ask as I wasn't there.
I wasn't with her when I got stopped. I protested about the 500 Baht, but the security guard wouldn't refund me. I was with about 10 Thai people so I didn't make a bigger issue out of it.

Sure, sure. I've no doubt every young woman from a poor family in school dreams of working in a sweat shop for a pittance, and would never ever take the easy way to riches by engaging in sex with farangs.
Or from a HiSo Thai.
There is a house near us where beautiful girls arrive every almost every evening in their Mercedes and Audi (in red plates). Over the next couple of hours men turn up in all sorts cars. The party starts, everyone is happy (I assume). No need for soapy massage places. This is far more discrete.

How about half price fares for everyone over 60 on the BTS just like I have on the MRT ? As it stands now, only Thais get hallf price cards for BTS rides...if MRT can do it why not make it universal.
I found out the hard way. My wife bought 2 cards and gave me one. I topped up with 500 Baht, went through the gate and was stopped immediately. The security guard just confiscated my card with the 500 baht despite my protests.

I bought one about 2 months ago.
No problems at all.

Uhm it's not always quick.
I went about 2 weeks ago and I must admit that was the fastest I have experienced. I had to wait for 2 hours before it was my turn. Normally I wait from 8.15 to 15.30
My number came up and I went to the desk. The officer looked surprised and told me to wait as she hadn't finished with the guy in front.
His papers were a complete mess. On one form he gave an address in Chiang mai but on another he gave a Bangkok address, but couldn't remember the name of the condo, only the street name.
He had no 90 day report. No TM30 and had never done one. Forgotten to fill in forms in several places. At one point the officer went away for 10 minutes. When she came back she simply approved his application and let him go.
She apologised to me as I had in fact waited an extra 35 minutes.
My application took about 4 or 5 minutes. She didn't ask for 90 day report or TM 30.

I suppose they'll also be shutting down all the Thai venues, the soapy massages, the karaoke bars, the "pretties" who can be hired for events (and wind up drugged to death)? The TAT sure has their work cut out for them. In shifting their tourism model, they'll also have to somehow shift a deeply ingrained part of their culture.
Since these places have been closed we have noticed that the number of parties at the luxury houses around here have increased drastically. Sometimes 3 or 4 days a week. We often see a car with 4 or 5 pretties pull up and an hour or so later the Mercedes, BMW, Porches, Audis pull up. They then party all night and some leave at all hours of the night (we can hear the shrill voices of the young girls) with no respect for the curfew.

Done in luxury houses on Thong Lor, where there is no respect for the curfew either.

'You joking?': UK woman's Thailand holiday turns to quarantine horror
in Thailand News
Posted
I think you have hit the nail on the head here.
The authorities publish all the rules about being tested and so on, but there is nothing about being quarantined in hotels and having to foot the bill. Likewise, if they are admitted to hospital after testing positive, but showing no symptoms, or because they sat next to a positive case on the plane, the insurance companies are not likely to pay out.
This should be stated clearer on the various websites.
It won't be long before many of these cases hit the social media and news media and people will be cancelling their trips to Thailand.
