    Richard Barrows has just tweeted:

"The Department of Land Transport has announced that there will be no training or testing to obtain a driver's license at all offices from 2nd January 2021 until further notice"

My DL expires next week, so I guess renewal not possible until further notice.

On the Barrow's thread his followers are arguing that the DLT would continue to issue DL's but with out any tests, due the poor wording of his English translation (surely they're joking)?. Upon checking with a Thai person it means (which I thought was obvious) that no DL's to be issued/renewed as the tests cannot be performed due to covid risk in the DLT offices.

As far as I remember the info about it was on the website of the Sydney Thai Consulate 2-3 years ago.

I did have a look at it,  but decided to go with O-A,   I don't stay all the time in Thailand and the shorter term visas are more flexible for me.

Yes I also recall the Thai Consulate in Sydney having the O-X info on their website a couple of years back. Anyway, they refreshed the info on the website last month so the details for O-X application are now displayed: https://sydney.thaiembassy.org/en/publicservice/non-immigrant-visa-type-o-x

all you need is a proof of address for each licence and your passport with a valid stamp in it, and, you just have to sit through a pointless video before renewing.

As regards to Pranburi vs Cha Am, I've now used Pranburi 3 times and never had a problem whatsoever. Always had good and fairly speedy service there.

No mention or requirement at DLT Pranburi to do the reaction / peripheral vision tests as well?

You would be better off going to the Cha Am office. I always go there.

Since Cha-am is in a different province (compared with Pranburi), is the DLT there happy to accept renewal applications from people outside Petchaburi province? If so I think I'll renew there after my licence expires in a couple of months time.

  5. There are a few agents that specialise in the car number plate sector. They generally advertise their stock on their Instagram accounts, and there's also some local auto magazines that include lists of plate numbers for sale. You should look up  JarernTabien and ChokdeeTabien who both have extensive lists of stock for sale.

anybody can recruit me Extend WP

There are several 'Professional Employer Organizations' that may be able to employ you as a freelance. It's an expensive option because you are required to pay the PEO's monthly service fee plus reimburse them for your salary cost including with-holding tax and SSO. A friend of mine used one to obtain a Non Immi B visa with extension and a work permit issued by the BOI one stop shop in Chamchuri Square, Bangkok.

Last year I bought a BMW X3 Hybrid.

Interested to know whether you've been happy with the X3 Hybrid, and which dealer you bought from as I heard that it can be hit and miss with BMW dealers in Bangkok (some good, most have poor after sales service). Thanks.

Thanya Plaza (Suriwong) has lots of golf shops - many of them sell second hand golf clubs.

Thaniya Plaza closed down earlier this year as the entire building is undergoing a major renovation, so there are no golf shops there any more. A few of the shops relocated to Kian Gwan House 3 on the corner of Wireless Rd and Lumpini but unsure what happened to the used club traders and whether they relocated or shut down. Alternatively a huge new golf zone opened last month in the Show DC Mall cnr Rama 9 and RCA, and a smaller golf section in the Doki Japanese mall in Ekkamai (possibly there's some used club traders there).

The Department of Employment will not normally accept a work permit application from those on an extension based upon retirement.

Normally it means leaving  and reentering the country to apply for the work permit.

Alternatively, instead of leaving/re-entering the country, would it be possible for Immigration to approve a change in the extension from retirement extension to a marriage extension if you meet the requirements for a marriage extension?

Chose SCB since my wife use them, guess they are among the "too big to fail" - and then TMB as my father in law uses them, I'm counting on the Thai Military Bank never, ever having the chutzpah to fail haha!

The 5 Thai banks officially categorised by the Bank of Thailand as systemically important are Bangkok Bank, Krung Thai Bank, Bank of Ayudhya (Krungsri), Kasikornbank, and the Siam Commercial Bank. Although I would agree with you about TMB Bank with it having the Thai Gov't as an 11% shareholder behind its largest shareholder, ING Bank of Netherlands.
