Hi Moontang, I was wondering whether you've received your refund yet, as I heard that refunds directly credited into a bank account would generally take 5 business days after registration.

Are you guys talking a refund from PEA?
When I did my refund from MEA Bangkok Bank was not listed separately.
It's for a refund from MEA (not PEA). I did it online only a few days ago and BBL was one of the banks listed (I checked the box for refund into my BBL account).

A few years ago I would buy cigars from Famous Smoke for a price including freight of typically $50. A week later I would receive a notification from Thai Post to visit the Phrakanong PO to pay the tax and collect the parcel. Typically it was 2,000 Baht tax. I subsequently found out that if the shipments were smaller, such as a sample pack from Famous Smoke (about $15 all in) then the parcel would be delivered direct to my mail box with no need to visit the PO and pay the taxes.

According to their website, Super Rich have closed all branches except for 3 (with Rajdamri H/Q still open in central BKK). However, I noticed that their branch in Interchange 21 was still open earlier this week. BBL and Krungsri have suspended exchanging foreign notes for baht during the current CV19 crisis.

I found one that was open between Sukhumvit Soi 18 and Exchange Tower (they exchanged my AUD into THB at 19.2 which isn't too bad in these current circumstances). I also heard that Super Rich were open in Interchange 21

Is anyone aware of any Foreign Exchange Booths still open for business in central Bangkok? I note that BBL and Krungsri have suspended exchanging foreign notes for baht and that Super Rich have closed all branches except for 3 (with Rajdamri H/Q still open in central BKK). However I'm looking for a bank still exchanging foreign notes for baht in the Asoke to Phrom Phong area particularly.

TQM Insurance brokers are offering a CoVid-19 insurance policy issued by Bangkok Insurance (50,000 baht cover at premium of 299 baht). The policy has a 14 day initial period for no claims and cannot visit the high risk countries. Available only for Thai citizens and residents (not short term visitors).

What you see in the pictures following your link is exactly what I am looking for. The only thing is that a 1kg bar cannot be split if you want to sell part of its value and this is therefore not a practical size. I understand that bars come in all kind of sizes, from a few grams up to around 12kg I think.
Alternatively, take a look at YLG Bullion, one of the largest bullion dealers in Thailand. They have alternative size gold bars:

Took my wife to Paris from BKK at Christmas on Emirates BC. Prices were reasonable, lounges were great (BKK, Dubai, CDG). Onboard service and sleep was perfect, Emirates Mercedes limousine service to and fro, included. Booked a 4 day stopover in Dubai, on the way back (2 days of the hotel included as a promotion).
The will be some smoking deals because of the drop in global tourism....
Incidentally, does Emirates BC give you access to the Immigration Fast-track service at Suvarnibhumi Airport?

I understand the point your are making, however in the overall context of the Thai economy the Tourism/Hospitality Industry sector comprises only 7% of GDP and, whilst China is Thailand's largest trading partner, it contributes just 12% of overall trade. So there are in fact others apart from Chinese that contribute to the overall health of the Thailand economy. Thailand like the rest of the world will get over this crisis just like it and the rest of Asia got over the SARS and H1N1/H5N1 health scares in the past. The country is resilient and not overly reliant upon China although obviously the economy overall will take a big hit this year from the current health crisis.

If you can't find a place in lower Sukhumvit, in mid-Sukhumvit there's several branches of Never Say Cutz barber shop who should be able to do a flat top. http://www.neversaycutzbarber.com/contact/branch/4
(You could also try Easy Cuts in the Sukhumvit MRT arcade at Asoke, but unsure whether they do flat tops as the generally just do 150 baht 1o minute haircuts. However, there's another shop a few doors down in the same arcade that handles more complex cuts.)

I drove passed earlier today and seems The Crossbar is shut down permanently to be replaced by a Lebanese restaurant opening shortly (the signs are now up).

Don't think Randy owned the Goldfinger. He moved to another place where he is full or part owner. He married a girl from the Madrid. Real good guy.
He was the previous owner (for many years). He's since been over at Suhk 23 managing the Craft beer on the corner (opp Clubhouse) for several years.

HI. I read in the requirements for HCMC visa based on visiting spouse they require certified copies of wife's Thai ID and Tabien Bahn. Can the local police station certify them?

They mean self-certified by your wife (3rd party certification is not necessary).

Well, if no one asks you, then I suppose the point is moot. At the same time, if no one asks you, you can get away with doing all kinds of stuff. I am just trying to anticipate the "what ifs?" There is supposed to be a paper trail documenting where you are residing and your movements in and out of the country as well as TM30s following you inside the country. All that stuff should ideally be in sync with the IO where you obtain your extension. For B14K, an agent is going to provide the initial service and then and then be on the ball to attend to your 90 reporting every 3 months.
For B14K the agent (referred to earlier in the thread) arranges the 12 month retirement extension. For an additional B1.5K they can also take care of the 90 day report and they will mail the physical stamped/signed 90 day report receipt to you. You can either use their deemed address in the province where the extension is obtained or your own if you have an address there. If you intend leaving the country during the year you can also get the re-entry permit for additional cost via the agent.

Some of my favourite are already mentioned such as the themes from The Persuaders; Tour of Duty; M.A.S.H.; and Bonanza. I also like the theme from the "Strikeback" TV series. Several episodes were filmed in Thailand as well:

Nice report. Apart from 'confirming your visa' did the Immigration letter also confirm your address (in the absence of a yellow book or work permit)?
-
I have been using them for my 90 day reporting. No problems during the past year with their process, and the fee of 1,500 baht p.a. for 90 day reporting service suits me at present under my current circumstances.

If your monthly auto payment has been by way of a monthly debit to your credit card, then this type of email would usually indicate that your credit card has recently expired, and you need to update the card details.

Directly opposite Hua Hin Hospital on the eastern side of Petchkasem Rd there’s an Eye Clinic that gets good reports in one of the other Hua Hin forums. Unsure of the name of the doctor but the clinic is easily visible from the road.

Okay, what is it that you're looking for exactly. Good time or potential long term relationship?
If coming off a bad break up, should just focus on a transactional short term good time. For a long term relationship, best that you first have some "lag between the vag" before committing to another relationship.
-
It depends upon with Immigration Office that you use. Chaengwattana did not require it be updated last time I did a marriage annual extension there.

Whilst I don't have first hand experience with it, I looked into it a couple of years ago and then it was not attractive (for my wife) as "you must have lived in Australia as a permanent resident for at least two of the last five years. Alternatively, if you do not meet this residence requirement but you can demonstrate substantial ties of benefit to Australia you may be eligible to be granted the visa for one year". We didn't want the restriction of being pinned down in Australia for 2 years so didn't bother with it.

MEA Deposit Refund??.
in Bangkok
Posted
When I registered for the refund I entered my 13 digit Pink Card ID number, although when I opened my account with MEA 12 years ago it was done with my old passport number. However, it seemed to work okay and showed an amount on screen of 12,000 baht as my refundable MEA deposit.
I registered 5 days ago and still waiting on the refund to be credited into my BBL account. Incidentally my name in the MEA is written in English with surname first whereas my name on my BBL account is in English with surname last, which hopefully qualifies under their system as a proper match.
