  1. Because the question was about the office "on" the bridge and not the one next to the bridge. At least that's how I understood the question.
  2. No, it was not at the regular immigration office next to the bridge (that one was closed because it was on a Sunday) but in an immigration office in front of the bridge close to the border checkpoint. I know the regular immigration office which is located on the right side outside the fenced border area, because I go there every 90 days for almost to decades.
  3. I remember I got one at the office in front of the bridge on a Sunday, when the regular Immigration office was closed. But that was about 10 years ago. Don't know if they are still doing it.
  4. I'm on retirement "visa" for almost 20 years and I had several home visits by immigration officers, maybe 5 or 6. It always went smooth and relaxed. The just checked my passport, asked some of our neighbors to confirm that I really live there and that was it. I have never been asked for petrol money or any money at all.
  5. Luckily I got a carton of Camel Yellow at our local Tesco Express today. The price remained unchanged at 600 Baht per carton.
  6. Thanks to all, who have answered my initial question! So there seem to be similar problems everywhere in Thailand.
  7. Of course, it was foreseeable that my question would lead to a general discussion about the harmfulness of smoking. But I would be happy if my question could be answered as well. Is there a general shortage of many brands of cigarettes in Thailand at the moment or did I just happen to be in the wrong shops?
  8. My favorite brand of cigarettes (Camel Yellow Compact) has been out of stock at our local Makro for more than a month. That's not unusual. Once a product is out of stock, it sometimes takes them ages to restock. But most other brands are also out of stock. Currently they have only 2 or 3 different brands. So I went to the nearest 7-11. Surprisingly I faced the same problem there. Not only Camel Yellow were out of stock, but almost all other brands as well. They had only 3 or 4 different brands. I suspect, this may be related to the tax hike last month, but why does it last so long? Is this the case everywhere in Thailand at the moment or did I just happen to visit the wrong shops?
  9. So I bought 3 cases of beer plus 4 bottles of Spy Cooler today at the Makro. No problems at all.
  10. It depends a lot on where you live. Here in Mukdahan, there isn't much choice when it comes to Western products other than the Makro. Of course, I can buy beer everywhere. But most stores carry relatively old beer, while at the Makro it is usually reasonably fresh.
  11. No, it comes from a person who has been living in Thailand for more than 20 years. He is well aware of the official selling hours and he pointed out that he tried to buy during these hours. Because I haven't heard elsewhere about that, I suspect (hope), it may have happened because of some kind of misinterpretation by a local store manager.
  12. That's the reason why I'm worried. I usually buy 3 or 4 boxes (3 adult males in the house). Of course I can buy anywhere else. But relatively fresh beer sometimes is hard to find. At Makro they usually have it.
  13. No, I mean during the official alcohol selling hours.
  14. There are rumors saying that they don't sell more than 10 liters of alcoholic beverages to consumers anymore at Makro. When you want to buy more than 10 liters, they insist on an alcohol seller's license. Can anybody confirm?
  15. Even in the 1990s I was already able to remove an item or adjust it's quantity on my record store's receipts, before the printing was completed. The printing started when I scanned the first item and was complete after the payment was made. During the whole process it was absolutely no problem to adjust anything on the receipt. So after I had received the payment, there were only 2 or 3 lines left to print. That was in the 1990s in a medium size record store and it included full VAT receipts for those of my customers, who asked for such a receipt.
