  1. With low-cost airlines you get what you pay for and pay for what you get. There are much better options out there.
  2. In short, NO. There are already ''laws'' on the books , but very little or no enforcement.
  3. The Thai govt. could help by enforcing laws about vehicles with modified exhaust system that pump out excessive amounts of pollution. Especially diesel pickup trucks belching excessive black smoke. The laws are already in place. Modified exhausts on motorcycles are another source of excessive pollution. In the province where I stay, about 30 % or more, vehicles are in violation of the law. The traffic police could collect a very large amount of money and use it to put vehicles in violation back to stock factory exhaust systems. Not likely to happen in my lifetime but hope for the next generation.
  4. For a country that USA politicians claim to be the greatest country in the world, 6-8 weeks to renew a passport is unacceptable ! My Thai lady renewed her passport in ten minutes, no appointment necessary, just walk in, out in no time with a new passport.
  5. What is the fee for a Non-O, 90 days, getting it inside Thailand? and then fee for 1 year extension ? Thanks.
  6. Your landlord likes to be paid for her time. 500 B seems reasonable. Hopefully Thai immigration will get the online system running again and then you can do it yourself in the future.
  7. I take no pleasure in doing this drastic move. I wish I did not have to do this. I did it to protect my family.
  8. You could try this. It may help if the yappers owners are close by. Get a loud bluetooth speaker and point it the direction of the problem. 2; open a youtube vdo of barking dogs and play it as loud as possible. Give the problem neighbors a taste of what's it like to hear bark, bark, bark all day, all night. This did help for me with my problem neighbors. They came by our place to see what was making all the racket. They got the message, loud and clear. Now when their poop and fur factories bark and bark and bark, they put them inside the house. Not perfect, but much better now. Good luck.
  9. 27 November I went there and they wanted 1,900 B or $50 US. for a U-turn stamp. I negotiated and got it down to $40. US PLUS 200 B. Grift.
  10. Knowing the law is a good thing. Getting Thai immigration to follow the law , well... good luck .
  11. My Thai lady tried filing TM30 online but it would not work. Monday I went to the Phayao immigration office to file a TM30 for my Thai lady who could not get time off from work to do it herself. I had a ''power of attorney'' and all the necessary paperwork. I arrived at 08:30 am as the doors opened. The officer said'' foreigner cannot file TM30, only a Thai person''. But she took my stack of papers and asked me to have a seat. She would ask her big boss, etc. blah blah. I waited and waited. 10am she called me to the window and said the same thing. Only Thais can file a TM30, even though she never asked anyone else for help in the office. She handed back all my paperwork and told me to get my Thai lady to come in. I called my Thai Lady at work and she said she would leave work early to make the long drive to Phayao immigration. She walked in ,said NOTHING, handed the stack of paperwork over and walked out with a TM30 receipt in less than 2 minutes. Truely immigration does not make anything easy for foreigners. Each year it seems to get harder and harder to comply with regulations.
  12. It's my understanding that the hotels are required to report guest with a TM 30. And they pay 10 B per guest to Thai immigration. I have a feeling, to save 10 B, some hotels don't bother to report a TM 30.
  13. Last year I installed Global House PVC extra large size gutters. Did it myself. They are well made components. How long will it last? no idea, but maybe longer than the cheap metal/zinc types. If you have unlimited funding, go with extra large size stainless steel. PVC was very reasonably priced.
  14. Gave the CBR250R a detailed cleaning after the Phayao to Buriram Chang Circuit 1,750 KMs trip. (RT) Hot, cool, hard rain, foggy conditions etc. CBR never skipped a beat. Just about to hit 105,000 Kms, time for an oil change.
  15. Just back home from an excellent 2023 Thai MotoGP. Three days of dry track, a bit too hot, but very good times. Very exciting races, all classes. My Thai Lady and I rode CBR250R , two-up , 1,720 Kms, RT. Phayao to Burriram. Parking for the motorcycles easy and FREE ! Would like to go again next year.
