Thanks for the information mania. I have seen rsv racing sets. Quite good. I am quiet busy these days with work, could not go for a hunt yet. Next week i would like to check all, moth racing etc.
Yes Moth makes nice things too
I got my frame sliders from them & they are nice quality parts

As an aside his guitarist Steven Van Zandt
was also a good actor in the TV series The Sopranos
as Silvio
Also some new show I have not seen called Lilyhammer

You might want to also check with floridaguy
http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/user/65746-floridaguy/
I turned him onto this one that I had considered but could not
travel to check it out.
He bought it & was considering selling his other one which he posted before here
http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/554287-honda-vfr400rr-nc30-project-bike/?hl=+nc30
( Dont look at the red one that karlos owned in post 3 of that thread........will make all others look weak )
Dont know if floridaguy did sell the black one or not but may be worth a check.
Maybe he will see this post & chime in

Tranferred bikers brake caliper protector and shock protectors/sliders last night to my cbr500 from my cbr250. They fit perfectly. Now only part left that i can transfer is the center cap of triple master clamp. But i do not have tools to make that at home. I will sell the rest of cbr250 bikers stuff. I am so sad that front pegs did not fit:(
Hey LL RSV Racing is making a nice set of rearsets for your bike
& have them in red if you want. Actually 7 colors I think this is their titanium gray
Might be out of stock right now but they are taking orders
Price on the CBR was 5500
I think if you say you saw it on Ninja Thailand forum you get 10% off so 5000

There are some great shops right in ChiangMai
Zeromet on ChangPuak
Just turn left at the big market outside the moat ChangPuak Gate
A little ways down on the right you will see the two story store
with all the helmets & gear
http://zeromet.tarad.com/?lang=en
Also the usual spot across Suriwong Book Store stocks many brands in
large sizes
Both places sell LS2, Real,Bimola etc.
Also you can try Kawasaki Chiangmai outside Chiangmai gate on the moatthey stock many & prices are quite good.
Lastly CNX Motogear on Chiangmai Lamphun road after the intersection & before Miguels
a hundred yards or so on the right.
You can find helmets & gear at these places for 2500-5000 baht that are good quality
Also if you go thru Chiangmai gate across the street from Kawasaki. There is a new place
right inside that street straight across the gate. They sell AGV helmets.
The K3 goes for 6300-6900 I think?

Not that we have seen todayA friend told me it's been raining in CM?
-
Rode the motorcycle from Chiangmai to Wiang Pa Pao Chiang Rai today
Not too bad at all. Of course not beautiful smoke free skies
but not choking levels either

No what you meant was clear to everyoneNo the funny part is that you don't get what I mean.
I wasn't revving it on 100% really. I was more fast accelerating and it let me down before it even felt close to the limit.
Perhaps to make it more clear I didn't know it was such a lame engine power wise. And the Rev limit set 9k is already maxxed out for that engine. Will that make you happy?
since you posted it in so many different threads/topics even the for sale section
We understand you did not like it & it was disappointing to you.
We understand you may have even gotten a bad example low on gas
Yes your final sentence above is more clear.....for you
Since I think everyone already knew exactly what you were saying as we read your ten or more
cut & paste posts.
Many tried nicely to explain to you why it is what it is.
Perhaps the simplest thing to tell you is literally
Different Strokes for different folks
Good luck

Yeah..... I had a post all ready to go about a week ago
Well the place in Pai closed because the Mexican food was terrible - I don't know any local that went there more than once or twice. Hope it's better in the new location but we don't miss it at all.My first post to ThaiVisa
I am surprised no one has mentioned Mexican Grill. I am only a customer and have no business association with them.
They recently relocated from Pai and are on the outer side of Canal Road south of Suthep Road.
The burritos are very TexMex and portions are huge. They offer an upsized version and that one is impossible to eat in one sitting.
Also have other TexMex dishes, ribs, Margaritas....
The food is good but the kitchen is very slow... so be warned.
regarding this place & decided if I did not have anything good to
say I would just not post it.
But, since others have brought it up I have to agree with cloudhopper
Also as CMfoodie said kitchen is super slooooooow
food was just ok but not something I would go back for.
The margaritas we ordered came from a slush machine.
While it was nicely frozen which is rare in Thailand
it did not taste good at all. Probably cheap tequila
Miguel's on the moat is still the best Mexican we have found here.
Of course not the best we have ever eaten as we are from the US but the best here.
Funny though their branch on Chiang Mai Lamphun road is not as good?
We tried twice & both times it was not as good as the moat location food wise.
Pity as they have excellent parking & enclosed air con in a nice place.
Easier to get to than the moat location on most nights.

Yeah that R1 is hotThe bike that really attracted my attention was that gun metal grey R1. Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh at the weekend if I get some spare time... And of course that 636...
I have not rode a R1 in many years & would love to try one today & see how
they have changed. When I had a CBR900RR my pal had the R1 & we would swap off & on during rides.
The early models were also killer fast but lacked a little in the handling & finish.IMHO
Now they have been refined for many years & had years of race feedback from their programs.
I bet they are a very nice ride.

As mentioned a few times already it is a torques based engine. ( Low Rev )
good info but i still think rev limit at 9k is a joke and unaccepptable.Christ!
It's the design of the engine. At 67mm stroke it's a very square bore/stroke ratio.
why by a 500cc for over 200k and get that kind of limit?
You ask why pay & get that limit? Well because that type of engine
is what some are looking for .....Yes not everyone including myself.
The reason for it is because even if the limiter was disabled & allowed to rev to 12,000 rpm
you would not get even 1 kph more speed out of it. Not one horsepower more, In fact you would slow down
as the valves start to float
That IS the design of the engine & its peak power has been reached.
Not because the limit of RPM but the design of the engine.
It would make no sense to have revvs climbing any further as there is no more power to
be made, no more purpose, you would actually slow down not speed up...understand?
Funny though that the reason manufactures even have to put a rev limiter on engines
is because folks like you cannot feel the end of power & will rev the tits off it thinking you
will make more power & destroy the engine. Then probably try to claim it is a warranty service.
There are different bikes with different bore x stroke ratios
If you seek higher revs & a different style powerband they are there to be bought.

Oh lord this topic should have been a nice one to browse.
But is going downhill at a rapid pace
PS: Guzzi you posted before me & I was not referring to your post

On that Yamaha R1 800k THB cash or roughly $27,313 USDMore bike, prices and girls here:
http://omega-racer.blogspot.com/2013/03/34th-bangkok-motor-show.html
enjoy
As usual about double the USA MSRP $14,200 which of course in the USA
is usually much higher than you need to pay OTD
Pretty much exact same story for the Suzuki GSXR 1000 & probably the Honda too

Sometimes I get the feeling the markets are a poor indicator thesewell, we have more than a single Cypriot bank collapsing based on what was hammered out last night and the negative details are still pouring in bit by bit. but the markets are all "green".
days. The normal investors have mostly left & any remaining are dancing
very near to or in & out of the door.
I think the market is now run by those that make it indicate what
they need it to indicate to convince the masses everything is rosy.

yes those are braided brakes lines.
The chain also appears to be nice and overtightened.
Nice touch
I always thought braided lines would not cost a manufacturer
much at all & should be stock on anything that suggests "sport"
type bikes.
Tight chain could be like BSJ said
Or could be the bike is on a rear stand
Personally I would have liked if they made two versions
this one & a full fairing version.
Forgot what B&B reminded us too.
Will be interesting to hear Jeff's impressions when he gets one.

Frankly, I rather struggle to see why any expat not planning on returning to the US would retain their citizenship.
Could be,
because nowhere in the world are you allowed to be a man without a country.
In order to renounce your US citizenship you first need to obtain another citizenship elsewhere.
Secondly if you have enough assets ( 2 million I think )
you still need to pay an exit tax upon renunciation of your US citizenship.

Looks like this one was posted yesterday
Lots of close up pics here
http://www.benelliclubthailand.com/webboard/index.php?topic=214.0
My eyes are not good enough but on some of the pics with brakes close-ups
are those braided brake lines?

Thanks B&B it is good to hear a first hand impression
since you saw one close up.
Will be interesting to watch how they develop & as reports come back
from the road.

Safety is like that
It comes in degrees & tradeoffs
Of course safety equipment that one wears on a street bike is not
going to be the same degree of coverage that one wears on a race track.
The same holds true in any field.
Cars for example. Normal street drivers do not wear helmets
nor do they have 4 point safety harnesses or fire-suits, neck protectors etc.
Cars do not have roll bars or fire extinguish systems
Riders mainly make a safety equipment decision based on their circumstances.
Mesh jackets etc. with armor serve a very practical purpose for their
intended usage. Same as most street purpose built safety equipment.
They are designed to reduce initial impact damages. Yet be comfortable enough
that a user will choose to use them rather than go with nothing at all.
They were not designed with sliding across an open track at high speeds.
I tend to think most road accidents will involve very little actual sliding
due to the many obstructions one will probably hit or will hit you first before any long slide.
Seems like most street safety equipment is designed with that in mind.
Just my thinking on all this
The best protection IMHO is the one you wear rather than the one
you don't due to heat, hassle etc. when commuting or joy riding.

Max saying farewell but also some great shots
of him backing it into corners on the motard

If it were me & prices are close as you say & also mileage isAlso the prices are not much higher than the 78,500 that my local dealer wants for the KLX 150.
Maybe i should think more about a used 250. Probably more power than I want but the depreciation has already hit. Assuming it has enough quality to hold up to a few years of casual use then be sold off again.
low on the used 250's I would definitely go with the used 250
No such thing as more power than you want as the throttle twist decides.
But if the spec someone listed is correct on the 125 being the same as a wave
you may find having extra ponies on tap a + when needed for climbing if off road etc.
Good Luck
PS: I would not worry too much about others reasons for selling as there
are so many reasons here that folks sell. Buyers remorse is not always performance based
-
That business side of the swingarm looks hyper sanitary all closed up like that.
Congrats on the new ride.
Your like a kid in a candy shop
I once managed a Suzuki shop in the US for a couple of years
and was the same way

Most dealers here especially bigger bikes, as in not scooters do not
cut any deals in price at all.
Some might give you a better freebie, jacket, bike cover etc. with the bike but that is as
good as it gets IMO
On scooters sometimes you find dealers like Niyom Panich
that give 1000 baht off for cash
-
Melinda I am not 100% sure but I believe you do not need a license to reg a bike in your name
Of course to obtain better insurance than the basic mandatory parabol you may be asked by the insurer
or need to be licensed to be covered under full comprehensive
But AFAIK there is no law that states you need a license to own
