My only issue is that "they" banned a very useful medicine "pseudoephedrine" unless I go to a hospital, see an ENT then pay inflated prices.
The ban was meant to reduce drug production but from what I read from the catches the production seems to be going up.

Melatonin supplements usually sort me out within a day or two.

When I was in the U.S. I had a form of rhinitus that wouldn't go away, my doctor prescribed Bronkaid which has ephedrine in it and it cleared up within 24 hours. These days I only get seasonal rhinitus and when I do I go to an ENT at a hospital to get prescribed something with pseudoephedrine in it. Actived or Clarinase or a generic. They all do the trick and often within the hour.
Tiffy used to solve the problem but since the ban on pseudoephedrine for sale outside hospitals the replacement ingredient phenylephrine does nothing. I actually talked to my Thai doctor about this and he confirmed that from his experience phenylephrine doesn't work for sinusitus or rhinitus.

Robinsons or Central and Kad Suan Kaew often have sales. We bought our cot for nearly 50% off.

Bake and bite. The best. Bar none. End of subject.period. Take it to the bank. Run don't walk.
Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect ThailandButter is Better gives them a run for their money IMO. Blueberry pancakes with bacon and eggs. Awesome.

I haven't found anything like Thaivisa for Vietnam so you'll have to go with the less frequented subforums on alloexpat and lonelyplanet.

It's usually got to do with common interests. I train martial arts with Thais so we have conversations all the time and at length. On the other hand the foreigners playing ping pong I'm polite but we don't have the same interest so not much to talk about.

Having grown up in Australia with a single mum and a dad who tried to avoid all responsibility I don't think that the situation of "men pi**ing off on their kids after a divorce" is isolated to Thailand or anywhere else for that matter. I met a sh*tload of other kids in the same situations at mother groups etc. The only reason its changed now over in Australia is because child support is taken straight out of the wages. Over here I don't think there is any such thing. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I've looked at 2 of the usual suspects like Airport Plaza and Tesco, the latter had no MP3 players and the former only had the larger ones. I'd preferably like an Ipod Shuffle without a screen (which is all I could find at Airport Plaza) something like this: http://www.lazada.co.th/ipod-shuffle-2gb-silver-103918.html
But would also be satisfied with a Sony like this: http://www.lazada.co.th/ipod-shuffle-2gb-silver-103918.html
Both are out of stock at the online store (support doesn't know when they'll be in) and in any case I'd rather get to hold one instore and try it out before purchasing. In case anyone asks why I don't just use my phone it's because I'd like to have an MP3 player for long haul flights and travel and want to preserve battery life on my phone.
Any suggestions on where to buy here in Chiang Mai?

I think I saw them for sale at the UN Irish Pub.

Butter is Better
The blueberry pancakes are the best I've had.

I was asked by Delta Air from Tokyo a few years ago and my friend was asked by immigration at Don Muang a few weeks ago for proof of a return flight. Both on Australian passports.

I was there a few years ago and my meals were generally around $10 but I had a local mate who was showing me around so perhaps I was getting the good deals but he said this was normal. 2000 baht for a bowl of noodles? I haven't seen that. The sushi at the local train station hole in the wall was shockingly better than the 1500 baht sushi at the JW Marriott in Bangkok.
Japanese food is not my favorite cuisine by far but food in Tokyo was probably the best all round for freshness and quality that I'd had anywhere. Faultless service too.

I know a lot of people here teaching or doing volunteer work for "peanuts" and living in share houses and they do it for the work experience or life experience and definitely not the money. Some others are combining their work research with their Phd studies. People have different reasons and it's not all about the money but I'd wager that most of the people I know doing these things are having as good a time in Thailand as anyone else at the very least.

It's a good idea but whether they do it or not is up to the Gods. I suggested the same to another gym and it never happened. There are a few punching bags at CMU gym though if you want to use them and the yearly fee is only 300 baht.

I doubt manufactures are putting amphetamines in OTC diet pills, especially when ephedra is legal and has a similar effect. High doses of ephedra can cause tachycardia and other cardiac problems and supplements containing it are no longer allowed in certain countries.
Even if there is a lable listing fat-blocking or natural appetite suppresents or stimulants there's still no guaranty that it also doesn't contain Phen-fen or ephedra.
My wife tried some she bought from a store in a mall and had trouble sleeping and discontinued their use. No stimulants that I recognized were listed on the label.
I thought ephedra was illegal too.

They may be able to arrange something for you at Wat Suan Dok or give further suggestions on where to look:

I use comodo for firewall but not the antivirus and avast for my antivirus. I also run spybot search and destroy weekly and malwarebytes and malwarebytes rootkit detector monthly. Firefox with addblock plus and ghostery for my browser.

An improvement? I wouldn't go that far. My connection has been consistently stable though and that's all I ask for.

To the OP's post, mate I wish a girl would have offered me money to sleep with her. I would have taken 20 bucks.
-
While 20 baht per head may be to little for the trip, 100 baht/head would be too much. 1000 baht is just getting jibbed. Air-con taxis cost less.

Youtube has been playing funny buggers for a while now, most of the time it works properly if I refresh it a second time but it rarely buffers fully. If I can't get a video to play I use the flashgot addon for firefox to download it to my desktop.

It was months ago but I saw Melatonin at PharmaChoice on Moonmuang. (Looking into the old city from Tapae gate cross the road and turn left if walking).

My friend asked me to post about the Judo club at CMU (Chiang Mai Uni) to try and attract new people(I don't train currently because of bad knees). Hope it's cool to post here.
It's a good deal guys, teaching is free (Uni Gym Membership is 300 baht/year for entrance and that's it!)
It's taught by Nigel who is a British 6th Dan and often has different judoka of different levels coming through as well as grapplers, wrestlers, BJJers etc.
You can find more information here: http://judothai.com/judo-in-chiang-mai/

Buying a guitar
in Chiang Mai
Posted
The top floor of Kad Suan Kaew has a guitar shop.
If I was going to buy a higher priced guitar then I'd go with a brand name but for the prices you are looking at I found that the Tyma brand sounds a lot better than similarly priced Yamaha and Epiphone. Back home I have a Maton, Martin and a Cole Clark but they are $1400+. I used to have a $600 Yamaha and to be honest this Tyma I have which I bought for between 3000-4000 baht (can't remember the exact price) on sale sounds better. I'd say that it sounds about 80% as good as my Cole Clark or Maton. My Cole Clark and my Maton are solid wood guitars and has been warmed in for about 3 years. I think my $1400+ Martin still has layered laminate in it.
Have a play for yourself between the Yamaha, Epiphone and Tyma and you'll notice the difference I'm sure though perhaps different people have different auditory tastes. Personally I find the Tyma in that price range to be warmer.
I also second the opinion on getting the Elixir strings. They may cost more now but they retain their brightness longer and I noticed that they don't "splinter" after say a year of not changing your strings. Not that I recommend keeping old strings on the guitar if he's going to be a regular player but sometimes the guitar ends up standing in the corner and it's nice to be able to pick it up and not get small bits of metal in my fingers.
