  1. Some of the comments surpass the blog for sheer comedy. I agree that ingrained racism accounts for most of the recorded incidents but comedy is one aspect not to be dismissed. Tigers lurking in the park? Well, who can say for sure they are not? Ignorance can be charming, up to a point. I remember an old pedicab driver who was always parked at the bottom of my lane in Taibei when I was young ( a time just after the Jurassic period). One night there was a bright full moon in the sky. After I got in to his vehicle he turned and asked me in all seriousness, "Do you also have a moon in your honorable country?"
  2. All you tech savvy people have no compassion for those of us who are not. Uploading docs may be simple for some but a brain crusher for others, and totally unnecessary, just a way to maintain an insurance scam.
  3. If you live anywhere near BTS Phrom Phong station why not use an agent on soi 24 who charges only 380 baht? It is much cheaper and infinitely easier (for me) than taking a taxi to CW and back.
  4. All these people who had smooth sailing obviously know how to submit documents, but there is no mercy for those of us who lack computer skills and have no one to help us. When the time comes I am happy to shell out whatever it takes to a surrogate who will do the necessary.
  5. It must also be asked whether the insurance must cover the entire period of visa validity, as I have read here and one returnee has told me. That condition ruled out any foreign travel for me, as there is a 5-month gap between the expiration of my normal policy and the visa renewal date. The supplemental coverage offered by my provider was prohibitively expensive for a short trip. As for the age cut-off it is possible to find companies based in Thailand that accept people older than 65. AXA, for example, will accept applicants up to age 79.Some of their foreign based providers under their umbrella will go higher. Mine, Pacific Prime, has 74 as the cut-off age. But I am concerned to read that one person today who tried to register on Thai Pass was denied because his insurance indicated he was older than 73. Could any system be more confusing and frustrating?
