Phillipines Retirement Visa
Thanks - yes been to Manilla once and understand - plus taxi drivers who won't use a meter (maybe understandable given the traffic). Re AAA... comments I find Thai Visa has a mix of helpful, informative, pedantic, opinionated, agressive etc etc people. I thank those that help and inform and try to ignore the rest. Thanks again

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
Another thought what if I stay 178 (for the sake of arguement) days until the end of one tax year followed immediately by 178 days (for the sake of arguement) from the beginning of the next tax year. Am I a tax resident? - Total time in Thailand 356 consecutive days

Phillipines Retirement Visa
1. So this visa is only for ex military? 2. You can stay 3 years on tourist visa? 3. Reason for looking at it - 180 days out of Thailand every year. 4. Although I believe not now commonly spoken in the Phillipines I can speak Spanish (and English) so I would feel comfortable language wise. 5. At this moment just looking at all options.

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
Yes maybe the rules become effective 01 Jan BUT it is impossible to assess an 180 day residency in any year before 180 days have passed

UK visit visa 2 years (or 5 or 10 years) - how long for each visit?
My partner has a 10 year UK Visa obtained in 2015 she used it for trips to the UK/Europe for a few years then came Covid - for the last two years she has spent almost the full 180 days in the UK each year (using it also as a base to travel to Europe also). We have never had a problem at immigration although as some have said the whole area of what "time envelope" the 180 days is in is very murky. What amazes me is why UK Immigration would think an educated, financially independent, property owning Thai would want to live permenantly in the UK. My partner is Thai through and through and although she likes to travel she would not want to live anywhere but Thailand.

Toyota Altis
I have a very old but in very good condition Altis 1.6. It runs on 95 petrol - anyone have experience of running one on more modern octane ratings - is there an upgrade?

Live like you will die tomorrow - Learn like you will live forever. - Mahatma Gandhi- Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
Came across this about the UK Thai DTA https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/507424/uk-thailand-dtc180281_-_in_force.pdf Articles 1 to 4 maybe relevant.- Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
So long term partner would have to pay tax on monetary gifts- Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
Yes that was what I was asking since taking money out of an ISA is completely tax free (and doesn't have to be reported to the tax authorities) so if I then send this to Thailand what is the status of that money since it's not taxable in the UK (and is it covered in the DTA agreement - I think not as I think ISAs came after the DTA agreement)- Long time Danish resident stuck in Thai immigration detention in complicated case
I'm sure this is not the correct place to post this BUT - since last night's maintenance lock out the "go to the top icon" seems to have disappeared?- Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part I
I did ask this q before but the thread is so big I cannot find it again to see if there were any opinions on it. In the UK citizens can put up to 20K each year in an ISA (this can be a cash ISA or stock and shares) - all income, profit and withdrawals are not subject to UK tax and indeed do not have to be declared on a tax return. Equally if you are out of the UK for a time abroad the ISAs you have can be retained but you cannot add more money during your period of absence. So does anyone have an opinion as to how this will fit in with the new rules effective Jan 1 2024- Thailand needs to calm down it's rush to EV !
The world is full of people who let others do the "thinking" for them and look where that's getting us.- Thailand needs to calm down it's rush to EV !
Thanks again - as I am sure you will have realised by now I am a complete novice on the subject of EVs- Thailand Ruined
I stand corrected BUT it a tax just the same????- Thailand needs to calm down it's rush to EV !
Thanks for the info But what about where they connect to the motor? I assume they have a + and a - terminal with leads out to the electric motor???? - Why do you want to live so long?
