German man found dead in Walking Street hotel room

 

 

A German man was found dead inside his hotel room in Walking Street Pattaya on Monday.

 

Rescue workers and police discovered the body of Hans-Dieter Brien,57, lying face down on his bed in room 204 of La Fountaine Hotel.

 

Police said there were no signs of forced entry or a disturbance in the room and are working on the assumption Mr Brien died of natural causes.

 

Mr Brien’s body has been sent for autopsy to establish an official cause of death.

 

The German embassy has been informed.

It is sad and disturbing to see a person, still young, end up getting carried away in a cloth bag as seen on the picture....

 

To the usual Pattaya ranting lawyers it may seem normal, but one cannot ignore that these sudden unexplained casualties, seem to have a higher ratio in Sin City then elsewhere in Thailand...

Well, I'm going to make the assumption that a sixty-seven year old male renting a room in Walking street, is likely to engage in the entertainment offered by that location. Girls, ladyboys, drugs and drink  - take your choice. Nevertheless,  I hope he enjoyed his last night in Thailand. RIP.

Pattaya (because of its very high, aged, foreigner population) is the equivalent of the elephants graveyard for elderly (he was 67) western males in Thailand. It also has more than it's fair share of alcoholic/unhealthy/"troubled", etc foreigners.

 

Elephants do not die because they go there.

 

They go there because, one way or another, it's "time".

 

One thing that Pattaya isn't, is a place of "mystery".

The opinions may be valid from long expiriance in Pattaya. I first visited Thailand in April 2000  and not long after that saw a sign posted in a hotel in German and English. "To our German compatriots, please stop over imbibing beer along with Viagra and (Their post) 17 yo Thai girls." We are losing about 2  persons a week>"

When so many people come to Thailand in their later life and start living as if they were 21 again it's bound to have consequences. If you want to bow out in style, living life to the full, then good for you. Much better than being bored and miserable back home, in my opinion.

Exactly. To ascribe the cause of death to Viagra is perfectly valid on the forum even though no Viagra is found! And it really, really wasn't found in this case, 'cause if so they'd make a point of it. Wonderful click bait. Might even be the main focus, forget about the deceased: Viagra found next to dead Frenchman. Yee haw!
