Close Call: Footage Captures Car Passing Over Collapsing Road in Phayao
What foundations? From what I have seen, they clear the land, flatten it with a road roller and then lay the concrete. Road collapses happen all of the time here, the land is mostly sandy soil. -

1-year extension based on your original Non Imm O Visa WITHOUT having a Thai bank-account
That has NEVER been a requirement when using an embassy letter. You've made that up, or you've mixed it up with what those from the three countries whose embassies ceased to issue income confirmation letters have to do nowadays. In other words, your post is complete nonsense. -

You mean talking about the mere fact of someones background is now racist? Oh got it only if its a Lefty, we can talk about Trumps German background all the time instead. Do you deny she was picked because she is a "black" woman? -

The US support to Israel and Ukraine will be the political doom for Harris and mark the return of the Donald. Like it or not, like him or not. -

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
TH has currently the right to tax the gov. pension and I assume they will IF you remit to TH. Are you getting gov. pension or company pension? The German IRS will sometimes try to tax all pensions but when you write to the German IRS in Neubrandenburg that deals with all expats they will relent in the end. That was the consensus of several German expats I dealt with. Do only contact German IRS if they already tax you 😉 -

UK frozen pension returning to UK and going overseas again at a later date!
" If you are a UK national, you have automatic right of abode in the UK. If you have been living abroad, you pass the ordinarily resident test on resuming settled residence here and are imme diately entitled to free NHS non-emergency hospital care" Not lived there for some 20 years, knew I had come back(and leaving )as soon as treatment completed -

Ultralight flight carry on luggage.
I've just ordered cabin luggage from Lazada, inexpensive hard sided for just over 300 baht. All within allowable limits. Whenever I travel I try to keep within the carry on allowances because sure a rain, I'll be the one to be picked out if I was over. I haven't used check in for the last 9 years. Travel light is the way to go, no waiting at carousel fir your bag to finally turn up. It's been a long road getting my missus to do the same. When we returned from NZ she had 4 check in bags and used the conbined allowance of 64kg! I had 1 cabin bag. What a hassle getting those bags from Don Muang to Mo Chit train station and up to Korat. We're heading back to NZ next month and she has been told... 1 cabin bag 7kg total. No check in baggage. Either she pays for it or it gets left here. Easier to transfer with just cabin luggage... Less chance of getting bumped. -

Thai Baht is ruining my retirement
... and dumb, as I didn't do any real research, not even about visas. Which if not taking in the village orphan, would have been a major oops, as had a few years before 1st Thai wife divorce and turning 50 ... Of course at 45/46, knew I could just hop a plane and leave for USA or elsewhere with no problem. The ones not so lucky, maybe should have stayed in home country. To me, that would have just been common sense.- 1
