Finance Ministry to introduce “Sharing Economy”

The Fiscal Policy Office has been instructed to hold discussions with the Commerce Ministry and the private sector about the Finance Ministry’s plan to introduce the so-called “Sharing Economy” concept to help skilled workers earn more income and also to help train the unskilled so they have a means to make a living.

 

Finance Minister Apisak Tantiworawong said to further enhance the “Sharing Economy” concept, the Finance Ministry might put in place a central application to put together all the skills which are necessary and hard to find, such as electrical mechanics, plumbers and contractors so that people who need their services can make contact with them.

 

In the initial stage, the minister said that he would seek cooperation from the Siam Cement Group, a huge supplier of construction materials, to be the central figure in setting the standard of the skilled artisans, selecting and accepting them for registration because SCG is closely associated with construction materials stores which are familiar with the artisans.

I'd like to share with some of those police and military generals who appear to have hundreds of millions of baht but very limited skills to earn it.

However you spin this one , it doesn't look like sharing anything. It looks more like another level of qualification/ registration on top of those that exist already.

Looks to me like the finance minister has got stuck on "spin" mode and is spinning out of control, likely to hit warp factor nine, Jim.

 

Sharing Economy: derivation from the olde English 'job broker', 'employment agency' or 'job training'.

Arduino, Grab and Uber are better examples of the share economy.   This sounds more like apprenticeships.   An old idea with an contemporary name.

They like hip buzz words like hub.  Or perhaps they get "hub" confused with the word for "go go bar".   Or you are right.  It is all just a big misunderstanding.

2. a few speeches by unqualified old guys who know other unqualified old guys

 

3. some poster boards with "Sharing Economy with Thai Characteristics" written in a cartoonish style

 

4. maybe a commercial or two on local channels in between soaps.

I see you have experience in spin-doctoring. Have you been a government advisor for long?

Right! The old guard training the young! Has anything changed? The elder know best BS. I guess to a limited way, they do know something sometimes, but do not dare tell them. Others know how to screw others and the system. Not sure if it will help achieve Thailand 4.0 though. There are many decent people here though. Really. I know many. They are not old though. A mix of know-how and youthful Elon Musk can do is best. Sorry!

Yes quite right the old cannot last forever,  change is unstoppable, like the waves. Once the young get in and start education proper it’ll be the rolling stone that gathers no moss. Laws will be LAWS. aka Singapore will the Thais be able to adjust

Why not set standards from like other countries? Relying on a cement supplier to set various trades standards is plain stupid (except how to pour lay cement) !
