webfact
Construction of Aor Tor Kor market’s floating platform affects vendor sales BANGKOK, 15 October 2018, (NNT) - Aor Tor Kor market vendors have reported a drop of 50-80% in sales, following the construction of a floating platform, which is part of the market’s expansion that is taking up a portion of the existing parking space. The complaints resurfaced after the affected vendors approached the NBT and informed the news station about the ongoing issue. They had previously lodged a complaint with the local Damrongtham Center and the Permanent Secretary of the Agriculture and Cooperatives Ministry. The vendors asked the administration of the market to postpone the construction, citing the lack of parking spaces. According to the conversation between the vendors and NBT reporters, the number of customers has significantly reduced since construction started on October 1st. They claimed that the lack of parking spaces has driven away their customers, who are mostly the elderly relying heavily on their own vehicles to get to the market. The claim coincides with several customers claiming that it has become more difficult to find a parking spot, making them hesitant about visiting the market. According to the NBT’s phone interview with market’s director Kamolvis Kaewfaek , the complaints have been acknowledged and a makeshift car park, which is capable of handling 30 cars at once, has been established for the elderly. He explained that customers are allowed to park their vehicles at the temporary parking lot, which is located at the rear entrance of the market. Nonetheless, the Aor Tor Kor Market Director said that he is going over some possible solutions to the issue. -- nnt 2018-10-

Who would have thought that reducing the available car parking space at a tourist trap would affect the number of people going there???
