A good chance the owner did not know about it. The girls often use false or another's ID.

When I was a young man I lost a liquor license for having an underage waitress serving drinks.  My competitor paid her and dressed her up and gave her a fake ID.  It worked.  He called the cops and she admitted to being underage.  Lost the Liquor license and a half a million dollars.  I didn't own the place - just in management but the company went broke.

How would you check?  How would you identify her big sisters ID card?  Serious question.  Not kidding.  You made a statement - lets see if you could identify an lady who was 17 and 364 days as opposed to one who was 18.

How did the police found out or the foundation that sent the police? If in her ID is written that she is 17 and 364 days, she is not 18. Easy. Sure, there are ways for the girls to cheat but if I would be a bar owner and I am not sure that she is 18 y.o., I would go with her to the next police station to check the ID card and the finger prints. Yes, it´s a bit complicated but for sure better than get the problems the owners have now.

The only problem the owners have is  finding the money to buy their freedon and then reopen the bar m8

Don't think there is much to worry about.

Just cruised Soi 6 many girls in the bars. Hundreds.  Lots of guys walking the street all pretty crowded for this time of day.

Get it while you can!????

Can not help but feel sorry for the owners who invested a lot of money and now lost it all overnight for doing something everyone else does , including neighbors to the left and right and opposite.

Why they are still pimps

Knowing how good Thais are at English they should have called it "Cumming bar" and it might have stayed under the radar.

Actually im sure the cops are satisfied to raid any bar under these rules:

- bar has English bame so farang is to blame right?

- police are not getting tea-money cause the farang owner told em to F-off.

and number 1:

- obviously going against the grain by letting the girls keep bigger tips and paying them more, so the girls prefer to work with farang rather than police owned bars

How can closing this one Bar on Soi 6 for 5 years be a punishment for " Damaging the image of Tourism in Pattaya and Thailand " ?

The image of Tourism in Pattaya and Thailand has been successfully damaged beyond repair by many, many Years of Corruption, and total incompetence from Government Officials..

Just face up to the facts, Thailand is the Biggest Whore House in the World as stated by a British Newspaper over 30 years ago now, and little has changed in that time, and probably never will.

will they face charges of underage sex trafficking back home?

you do if you are from the USA. In the slammer you go.

It said the owners are a consortium of Taiwanese Chinese and Thai owners

How do you know what they truly were and were not doing?

Very naive if people just believe the news story as the facts.

A very liberal thought, but why not legalize prostitution in certain soil like they do in certain European cities. The government would get some income , more safe for the “escorts”, & gets rid of the scumbags.

Because the amount of revenue the local authorities will be able to collect will be negligible in comparison to the bulky brown envelops they receive today...

Be careful what you wish for!  The current situation where paying for sex itself is not illegal, and girls/boys can be barfined from bars for whatever purpose you desire, is probably preferable to the government controlling the girls!  Prostitution in various forms is part of Thai culture (concubines anyone?) but it's "discreet".  The law refers to "promiscuous" acts of prostitution, i.e. in your face prostitution such as soliciting in public and brothels, and obviously underage or trafficked prostitutes are something to be clamped down on.  Gogos, bars and massage places that stay within the rules should be fine.

"promiscuous"

Some bugger who is getting it when I am not>>>>>>>

What do people exactly mean by underage sex ?

In France a fully grown adult can have consensual sex with a teen who is aged 15, the law allows it.

In China a 14 year old can have sex with an adult.

So the international community  needs to chill down with all the fuss with 16 year olds having consensual sex with adults and notions can vary by law depending on which country. The frustrated purists and moralists need to take a chill and perhaps put in some ice cubes in their pockets.

You are not in France though, it is complicated here

Thailand statutory rape law is violated when an individual has consensual sexual intercourse with a person under age 15. However, sex with a minor under age 18 is a compoundable offense, regardless of consent.

Yes in Thailand it is 18 years. I was referring in general to the international community and towards the global trendiness of stigmatizing sex between a large age difference gap.

Never been a bar manager eh?  That means you would have to take every employee to the police station to have ID checked.  I've never seen it done.  But you are correct if a person actually did that it might work.  Why would her prints be on file?
