Heated debate over rent results in Nigerian man getting arrested

A Nigerian man has been charged with assaulting an officer on duty after he accidentally landed a punch on a patrolman trying to break up a dispute between him and his landlord. 

 

Edalere Abioye was apprehended after he was subdued by a large group of people as he tried to get away. 

 

Phya Thai police chief Pol Colonel Jessada Khumsarttra said Abioye was having a heated argument with his landlord over rent, and his fist – which was targeted at the landlord – accidently landed on the patrolman, who jumped in between.

 

Though the dispute has been mediated, police will still charge Abioye with assaulting an official on active duty.

 

The incident came to light earlier on September 2 after clips of the fight and resulting melee went viral on Thai social media.

Sounds more like the guy jumped in front of his fist, not intentional. Fire the cop for being so dumb and fine the Nigerian 200 Baht.

It's that way anywhere. Schools, sporting events, etc. If you hit the official, meditator, umpire, etc while they are trying to stop a fight (which is their job) a punishment is sure to follow. The officer was doing his job.  Assaulting an officer intentionally or otherwise is wrong. This man should be charged and probably will be deported. As a side note, I work with a kind and gracious woman from Nigeria and have had many pleasent dealings with many from Nigeria. Let us not jump to conclusions about any group of people based on the few bad actions of others.

100% of the Nigerians that stand in Bangkok Sukhumvit sois 3-15 at night trying to push drugs onto passers by - like the ones that operate out of Spankey's bar on Suk Soi 13 -  are criminal drug pushers and pimps. These are the people whose bad actions give Nigerians and other Africans a bad name.

Never met an honest or pleasant Nigerian. I lived and worked in Lagos for some years. Other Africans don t like Nigerians either.

I've stayed at numerous places in Thailand and I've ALWAYS gotten my deposit back and not once have I had a single problem with any of the landlords. But then again, I never gave them any trouble either. 

 

I often wonder why some expats constantly experience problems when living abroad, while others don't? Could it be karma? Attitude? Ill-fortune?

I have. Had a privilege of studying with a few of them in UK, including their member of parliament. They were great guys. Even met one Nigerian in Thailand who was an awesome guy.

 

But of course, stepping back a little, the number of those who weren't all that great far outnumbers those who are.

Know perfectly the attitude of Nigerians, their typically manner as act like victims. And after they get what they want, they laugh at you and give you a fool. For them there are only rights and no duties, and whatever you say to criticize their behavior, they bring out the excuse of racism, very fashionable these days.

Very simple when you have a Tennant like this dont enter any altercation just get the locks changed with your local motorcycle club present if the police is not available or both
