BANGKOK (NNT) - Singapore has confirmed its commitment to cooperating with Thailand in the exchange of information in all respects, while voicing its support for Thailand as the current ASEAN Chairman. Thailand is inviting investors from Singapore to invest in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), the Eastern Economic Corridor of Innovation (EECi) and the Eastern Economic Corridor of Aviation (EECA).

Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, welcomed the Ambassador of Singapore to Thailand, Kevin Cheok, on the occasion of the start of his Bangkok posting.

The Prime Minister expressed his confidence that the bilateral cooperation and relations between Thailand and Singapore will continue to progress. He said the Thai government is ready to support Singapore in all areas and lauded his Singaporean counterpart, Lee Hsien Loong, after he received the 2019 World Statesman Award from the Appeal of Conscience Foundation.

He said the Singaporean Prime Minister has provided leadership and vision for the advancement of Singapore. Gen. Prayut then expressed his gratitude to Singapore as an important trade partner. He invited Singapore to invest in the EEC, EECi and EECA.

Ambassador Cheok said Singapore has a long-standing relationship with Thailand. Trade and investment between the two countries have increased annually. He said Thailand has the potential to attract more foreign investors. He praised Prime Minister Prayut and Thailand, as the ASEAN Chair, in highlighting sustainable development in the region and working to finalize the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) before the end of this year.

Mr. Cheok said that climate change has caused heatwaves, droughts and floods. It has affected all sectors and every country must work together to address the problem. The ambassador said Singapore is ready to cooperate with Thailand in all respects, including the exchange of knowledge and information relating to technology and digital solutions, in which his country has expertise.

Singapore is also graciously invited to invest in the Eastern Economic Corridor General Retirement Initiative (EECGRI).

Never a waking moment passes without the mention of his beloved Eastern Economic Corridor. Now people have to put up with listening about the children of the EEC. The EECi and EECA.

Presumably all new senior diplomatic appointees have to go through the torture of this mutual brown-nosing ritual.

Hand out.  "Invited", what salesmen ship.  Kev should ask what the Airbus guys think.

Sure the conversation with like this: Invest in our dumb ideas, or we will dig a trench for shipping, bypassing your tiny island.

Prayut will be in happy company with the Singaporean ambassador: Singapore has recently introduced draconian 'anti-fake news' laws into their society.

Big Brother is spreading.

Those of us who love liberty are greatly disheartened and disturbed by what we see happening around the world today ...
