2 months?  Where do you spend the other 6?

March and April are dusty. N95 masks, air purifiers, laptop, and yoga ball in my room do the trick.

The rest of the months, I can go out and exercise.

Canadians put up with the same seasonal restrictions.

So what?

Safe level of PM 2.5 is 0.

May I say 'Safest level of PM2.5' ?

Absolutely right, Mr. JimmyJ.

Seems the fire bugs have really turned up the flame going into full swing. Now the dust is starting to permeate the house, the car and truck need a daily wiping off, and it is getting no fun to go running. Hope for an odd rain to come in and do a clean up.

Yea, looks like it for Chiang Mai.   Worse in other areas.

N Chiang Mai

1470 peak

Even when it is 'only' PM10, this is far beyond Good and Evil.

We should/could compare it with the Thai Capital.

Same same, but different?

My understanding is this.......

Concentration

Take for eg 1000 ug/m3 of PM2.5 and PM10.

1000 ug/m3 of PM2.5 is worse than 1000 ug/m3 of PM10.

AQI or any other index figure (PSI, API etc)

AQI 1000 based on PM2.5 as the main offending pollutant is the same as AQI 1000 based on PM10 as the main offending pollutant.

Now, if it is AQI 1000 based on ozone, then the health effects might differ a wee bit.

Bonus :

Of coz the health advisories are based on the 24-hrs moving average, the individual needs to work that out himself.  But at such high levels, eyeballing even the 1hr figures works just fine.  ie It's definitely bad no matter which way you slice it. ????

If you look up north or down south...

image.png.0386eb1d138e10a3543ae8a4332f9ef7.png

today a bit different. Sometimes bad in the north,

sometimes bad around Bangkok or in Isaan. - In the

US there we can see a development, but in Thailand?

By the way, for me the PM2.5 info is much more meaningful than the AQI numbers.

Table this morning at 9:00, first number PM2.5 ug/m3 - second number AQI

Interesting?

That was a nice hot season season clean out.

Two days, a bit of rain, then last night a blowing rain storm sweeps through. Woke up a couple times during the night,  rain pelting against the window, wind moaning through those less than tightly sealed, thai windows, hah!. It cleared the smoke out for the short term. Dark cloud cover with mist rolling around Doi Suthep. Windows open and a delightful cool breeze sweeping through the condo.

Happy Chakri Day 2021

Long may it last ...so refreshing ...everything clean and green...wonder where my chickens are hiding...they dont like the rain...Yen Sabai...yes

Where?

What is the point of your post.  It is a beautiful day in CM at the moment clear blue sky and  not a haze in site!

You were obviously not where I was this morning, stink of burning and the mountain starting to disappear. And I guess the AGI at that time was incorrect?

Unless we get the rain that some other places are getting  we are  couple of weeks away from 200 plus!

Where are you? I am a in San Sai....today is first day the pollution is arriving.  Smelly like burning and the mountains in the distance that were clear to see yesterday are all hazy now.

Not looking forward to the coming weeks.

I have already stated where I was, am and have been for many years-CM!

As you have not stated where in the world you are I cannot possibly make any meaningful comment as the where or what mountain disappeared this morning!

Have a wild guess as to which mountain it may be based on your knowledge of having been in Chiang Mai for many years.

As for where I am? There was a clue in the thread title.
