Navy drone intercepts diesel smuggler off Phuket

PHUKET: A Royal Thai Navy drone searching for Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing vessels yesterday (July 24) identified a modified fishing boat that was later seized while delivering illegal diesel to other fishing boats east of Phuket.

 

The Navy’s Orbiter 3B UAV drone was conducting search operations off Phuket’s east coast and along the Krabi coast when one fishing boat believed to be acting suspiciously was spotted near Koh Yao Noi islands at 10am, said the report by the Royal Thai Navy Third Area Command, based on Phuket’s Cape Panwa.

 

The HMS Sriracha was dispatched to intercept the boat, which was found some five nautical miles east of Koh Yao Yai at 10:15am, said the report.

The fishing boat was initially suspected to be carrying some 1,400 litres of illegal marine diesel.

 

However subsequent precise measurements using official, approved, unquestionably accurate, super scientific Naval equipment showed that the fishing boat was, in reality, only carrying 50 litres of illegal marine diesel.

 

After paying a 500 Baht fine the boat was released…while the somewhat heavier Naval vessel reportedly returned to port.

I doubt that a Drone would do all this . A drone can Spot something that's all

 

Definition of intercept. (Entry 1 of 2) transitive verb. 1a : to stop, seize, or interrupt in progress or course or before arrival. b : to receive (a communication or signal directed elsewhere) usually secretly. 

Not very smart  people on the "Fuel boat". Should've just shot the Drone out of the Sky.
