Trump knew that the corona virus was deadly and the situation was dire and he did what best for him and his family. They get the full medical testing and protection and he gets to call the corona virus a hoax to try gaslight the nation and divert their concerns and save his re-election. If the voters can't see through his self-centeredness and deceits, then they truly deserve Trump for another 4 turbulent and lawless years.

Its not really an attempt at voter suppression. Its part of Trump's armory of excuses as to why he lost the election. Part of his "blame everyone but me" philosophy. He knows he's already lost, blame it on a fake election, fake media, BLM, whatever.

The recording reveals two points of significance:

 

Trump lied to the American people (no surprises there).

 

Trump was aware of the threat he lied about.

 

This latter point then reveals that his failure to act and decision not bring the resources of the Federal Government to protect Americans from this threat were decisions made with the knowledge of the threat. 

 

You might think that ‘a nothing burger’, I suspect the families and loved ones of over 194,000 dead Americans will disagree with you.

This is nothing new. Trumps been saying all of this publicly since March. 

The trouble with your never-Trumper claim is that the rash of books out there are coming from all kinds of sources, some from his closest aids who he threw under the bus, some from insiders, some from real experts in their field. Many of these books were not from never Trumpers. They were from people who were pro-Trump individuals that Trump invited into the White House to work with him!

 

This latest book is a little different, coming as it does from a highly experienced journalist with the best pedigree in the business. But I am sure you will simply say it is fake news when he plays the tape of Trump saying one thing in private and another thing in public. Instead it is a fact.

Woodward's book also cites dozens of letters between Mr Trump and North Korea's Kim Jong-un. In the letters, filled with flowery language, according to US media, Mr Trump told Woodward of his connection with Mr Kim: "You meet a woman. In one second, you know whether or not it's going to happen. It doesn't take you 10 minutes and it doesn't take you six weeks. It's like, whoa. OK. You know? It takes somewhat less than a second."

Trump knows Bob Woodward.  Heck, Woodward released a book about Trump in 2018 called Fear.  Trump was upset that he wasn't more involved in that book, so he made sure he would be in this one.  Trump thought he could charm Woodward into writing a flattering account of him....but boy was he wrong.  If Trump is allowed to speak his own words and thoughts, the guy is guaranteed to say something self-incriminating.  Guaranteed.

It will be very humiliating for this man, to be remembered as 44, not 45. The 44th worst president in the history of the US. And I thought Bush Jr. was bad. In comparison, he appears to be a wise, elder statesman, who was articulate (LOL), compassionate, and decent. And I do not say that lightly. I despised the man. But, not nearly as much as I hold Trump in contempt. Not even close. 

 

Trump's level of hubris, and his bizarre self image, contribute to him constantly shooting himself in the foot. He simply cannot get out of his own way. Trump is Biden's greatest ally.

What's interesting to me if you listen to the tape of Trump talking with Woodward is that Trump doesn't talk to him the way he talks to members of the WH press corps, for instance, such as by blatant lying through his teeth, which would be to insult Woodward's intelligence.  Trump knows that Woodward is going to write his book.  I think he is trying to schmooze Woodward into giving him more favorable treatment by talking frankly.  It shows how Trump only considers the immediate problem that he faces and not the consequences that will arise later.  Now, since Woodward had Trump on tape, with Trump's knowledge, he can't deny it.  Nevertheless, Trump will attempt to deny it somehow.

Why do people forget that Bush was a war criminal who killed somewhere between 150,000 and one million Iraqis, every single one of whom was innocent of both WMDs and participation in 9/11.  

 

Loathsome as Trump undeniably is, he hasn't yet reached the depths of Bush's depravity.

Vision and smarts is not exactly Trumps strong suit. He not only has become significantly less convincing over the years (unquestionably, his better years are behind him, and he is fading fast), but he has absolutely no idea how to strategize, nor how to negotiate (unless he is buying small apartment buildings, that is the full extent of his ability in that area). He is a sad relic. A dinosaur. Totally out of touch with not only reality, but with the year 2020. No worries. Only a few months of this miserable soul to endure.
