COVID-19: Ensuring people are vaccinated is the answer to Thailand’s economic woes, says leading Dr

A leading Thai voice in the fight against Covid-19 has put his full weight behind vaccination as a means of solving Thailand's economic woes.

Using his personal Facebook page, Dr Yong Poovorawan effectively said it was cheap at half the price.

Especially when compared to all the cost of dealing with people who become infected, the quarantining and the economic hardship faced by millions.

He urged everyone to seek a vaccination when it becomes available.

He expressed confidence that it would be the answer for tourism places like Phuket and Samui to recover.

A fast and effective vaccine program was the only way to inspire confidence among people like tourists.

And the faster the better.

Here is where Thailand has been foot dragging, critics say.

Though Dr Yong's upbeat message had no criticism.

Instead he pointed to the success of the vaccination program in Israel in reducing infections.

doctor's concern should be health, not economy.

tomorrow finance minister will be talking about vaccination program, different brands and dosage nuances.

now nobody knows who to listen to to have any reliable info.

the very same doctor said before so many inaccurate, false statements.

If he really wants to help he should criticise this government, and his employer, the ministry of health, of vax fiasco in thailand.

no, he won't react to corruption scandal, which is happening

Thailand isn't dragging it's feet, the planning cronies are.

When you consider the strength of the Thai baht, you'd think they'd have been throwing money at it months ago

They have been Richard, throwing money at the pharma company which will make everyone money and make Thais feel superior and important. Just like the plan to buy subs and make a moon landing
