Popular Post snoop1130
The Social Security Office has suspended vaccination services at 45 centres in Bangkok, from today (Friday) until June 27th, after four days in operation, for improvements of services. Mr. Nanthachai Panyasurarit, an inspector-general of the Social Security Office, said today that, after four days in operation, during which 174,193 people covered by the social security scheme were inoculated, representing 87.09% of the target of 200,000 people, the office has encountered two problems which need to be fixed before inoculations can resume. He said that the first problem is the hot weather and poor ventilation in most of the vaccination facilities, due to the lack of air conditioning, resulting in several people queuing for jabs failing to get them because their body temperatures were too high. Some facilities do not even have awnings to protect against rain. Popular Post Pottinger
Story above is missing a paragraph: "The second problem is the conflicting information about people applying for vaccinations and names missing from the list of those applying for inoculation, said Mr. Nanthachai." And the third, unstated, problem presumably is that they have run out of vaccines.
kynikoi
Khaosod is quoting a government official stating that lack of aircon as a contributor of high blood pressure. I'm no medical professional but someone with high blood pressure I'm doubting the veracity of that. There was also a litany of whining regarding the facilities but many of this facilities are hospitals which have closed. The trouble is that the local people just don't scrutinize this stuff closely enough and the people that are making these announcements are not thinking it through. Quite easy to see through most of this stuff.

Popular Post wensiensheng
What did they do all those months while waiting for AZ to come on line? Preparing vaccination centers obviously wasn’t one of them. but it’s all a big cover up, they just don’t have enough vaccine and have run out. 2
saakura
I got my first jab yesterday through this (Social Security) program. It was very efficiently organised in one section of a high end shopping mall. Friendly staff, helped patiently (other expats) who could not read thai, to fill up the form. About 15 minutes from entering to getting the jab, then 30 minutes under observation and out. Because of the shortage of vaccines, we were not given a definite date for the 2nd jab, but told to expect an SMS after 16 weeks.

It's CLOSED till at least 27 June and that includes hospital facilities which going by the statement were lacking basic amenities such as awnings and air-conditioning. MAYBE you'll get a second vaccination before November. Everyone I know in States has been vaccinated for weeks if not pushing two months now. Your experience was a good one, that would seem to be the exception. 2

I predict the next issue to befall Thailand’s shambles of a vaccination program will be an inability to get second jabs. All those details being taken, how long before a bunch get lost?
unblocktheplanet
Basic science teaches body temp is stable except in heat stroke. If these joints have rooves, no heat stroke. No aircon?!? What are these places, palm-thatched cabanas?!? No SSO-covered foreigners, I betcha. Edited June 12, 2021 by unblocktheplanet addition
Iron Tongue
I suspect that, rather than running out, mishandling has likely destroyed the efficacy of many unused vaccine stocks.
