Aung San Suu Kyi's counsel confirmed to the BBC's Burmese service that the ousted Myanmar leader had been properly vaccinated against Covid-19.

It comes as Myanmar is grappling with an uptick in cases, with ramifications that have reached China.

Since the February coup, medical services in the country have deteriorated, with health workers protesting.

Only 2.8 percent of Myanmar's 54 million people have received all of their vaccines, despite 3.5 million doses being given out.

It's unknown when the 76-year-old former leader got her vaccinations or which vaccine she got.

Apart from her brief court appearances after she was taken from power and detained by the military, little has been seen or heard of her.
