Six Indonesian provinces have been instructed by the Health Ministry to remain vigilant for the Delta version of the coronavirus while also improving their testing and tracing capabilities.

Dr. Siti Nadia Tarmizi, the ministry's spokesperson for COVID-19 vaccination, said at an online press conference on the enforcement of public activity restrictions (PPKM) in Jakarta on Wednesday that the Delta variant, which is highly contagious and has the potential to cause severity (severe infection), remains dominant in Indonesia.

Aceh, North Sumatra, Lampung, West Java, East Nusa Tenggara, and Central Sulawesi are the six provinces with the highest occurrence of the Delta variation, she said.
